What matters most

I don't blog about controversial things.

For one thing, I've found out the hard way that things I didn't even know were controversial can stir up trouble.  From sleep training to circumcision to the size of bows - I can get flack for anything.  And I don't have a thick skin.  I also don't like to argue.

So I decided early on in blogging that I would never write about controversial things.  I know a lot of bloggers thrive off of it.  You can get a lot more shares, comments, and views when you write things that stir up opinions.  And I'm happy for them.  But that's not what I'm about.

My passion in life and in blogging beyond my family is sharing Jesus.  That's what I feel I was put here for.  NOT to share my views on politics or the latest current issues.  It's not that as a Christian I don't want to stand up for the truth of the Bible - because I will do that.  But because if I turn people off left and right with my thoughts on things that really aren't eternal, then they won't be around when I share about what Jesus has done in my life and what Jesus can be to them.  I will always be bold to share about my faith without worry about what people think.  Because to me that's what I'm here for.

I just feel like we are expecting a very lost world to act like they know Jesus.  Why on earth would they uphold what the Bible says if they don't even know Jesus.  My values follow what the Bible says but I can't expect people to follow the same when they don't believe what I do.
As badly as I want to share my opinions on Facebook and here,  I just don't think arguing or ranting does any good or points anyone to Jesus.

Yes, I'm sad at the direction this world is going.  This election is beyond discouraging.  I don't like either candidate.  I'm torn between the fact that I can't vote for either one and yet my grandpas and so many fought and died so we could have the right to vote.  But I'm also not throwing my hands up in despair like I see so many doing.  Things are happening in our world that I hate.  But I'm not losing sleep over it.  If anything, I feel even more encouraged to stand strong in my faith and share the love of Christ.  It doesn't make me popular but I see more than ever an opportunity to find hope in Christ.

God is not surprised by 2016.  God is not worried.  He is in control.  He has overcome.  I am resting in Him.  My confidence is in Him and not in this world.  I am keeping my eyes on the only one I can put my trust in.

So you won't see me posting and trying to convince you to vote for this candidate or sign this petition.  But you will hear me say that if there is anything you can hope in or trust in - there is a God who loved you before you were conceived and a God who has plans for you far greater than you could conceive and has promised an eternal life beyond your wildest dreams if you just simply trust in Him.  And I want nothing more than for you to know Him.

And if that's controversial - well then here's my post.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 8:38-39
