After watching a "Fixer Upper" Marathon and after taking down Christmas, I decided to see if I could change up my living room. Our house has basically been exactly the same for the last ten years except for our bedrooms. I've been saving up to get new dining room chairs and to change up the kids' bedrooms but I thought I could do a little makeover on my living room for a small amount of money and I'm so glad I did. It completely brightened up our house.
I had used greens and reds originally which I loved ten years ago but it has just gotten dated. So I wanted to try and go very neutral. Here is what it looked like before:
And Here is the after:
I went to Home goods and found curtains for basically nothing (they are a little short but I think I can figure something out later with that). I got some new pillows and a new lamp.
After that I mostly took things I already had and just moved them around. I traded out red things for neutrals.
I painted the big red frame with some extra Annie Sloan paint I had.
And then I happened to find a 75% off rug sale on Rugs USA so I got a new rug for practically free. We have needed a new one and I wanted just a very neutral rug.
I would love if our big TV cabinet was a cream color but I'm just going to have to let that ride for a while.
I'm a very pitiful decorator but I do love having a lighter fresher house for the new year. Hopefully soon my dining room will be updated to match!
