It's December, can you believe it?
It's starting to feel like Christmas. I wasn't sure I had the energy to decorate for Christmas but about two weeks ago we had a day at home and I got a burst of energy and I got it all put up. I didn't put up our big tree because I just decided I couldn't this year so we just have a small tree but our home looks like Christmas.
I can't stop thinking that next year we will have SIX stockings on our mantle (because of course Dawson has one too). We need to hurry and decide on a name so I can order a stocking while they are on sale!
A hint at our Tree.
MARK YOU CALENDARS FOR FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12TH. I will host the annual Christmas Tour of Homes!!! Link up your holiday decorations on that day! I always LOOOVE looking at how everyone decorates and getting ideas!
We are trying to really keep the focus on Jesus this season so I'm thankful for my friend Ann Voskamp and her new Advent book to do with the family. The girls LOVE it and can't wait each night for us to read the next reading. I have ornaments for a Jesse tree that go with it but I haven't decided what kind of little tree to use so we will have to go back and add those in.
I took this picture of Hollis in her little reindeer dress yesterday and I couldn't believe how big she looked. She's almost 4 and if I wasn't having another baby I think I would curl up in a ball and have a good cry. She's starting to be so grown up.
Tonight Harper's school had a family reading night and milk and cookies with Santa. The girls were so excited and Hollis was so proud of herself for not crying. Harper told Santa she wanted a real mermaid for Christmas.
Someone is going to be a little disappointed on Christmas morning.
I somehow lost our Elf from last year and I had just about decided to forget the whole thing. It was fun last year but it takes a lot of energy to move that thing each night. But Scott texted me today and convinced me........
Scott and I are available to speak to church groups or other groups on parenting. Clearly we have got it down. ha! ha!
So guess who made the trip to Target tonight for a new Elf. I found cute little gowns for the Elf to give the girls. Our Elf is named Madeline. I had to make sure and find a girl elf with earrings because Harper thinks they are hearing aids! I have to admit that it is kind of fun and they are only little once. I try to keep the holidays simple but I think it's the simple stuff that is the most fun with kids.
And Scott is right - the girls do act better with that Elf around. Whatever it takes. :-)
And just a few other notes:
I did a fun little interview on Every Day Cheer today!
And I'm speaking at First Baptist Church Clarksville, AR if you happen to be in the area this Saturday at noon! It's a fun women's event and I'm speaking on being intentional in our relationships with other women. This is a topic I love so I hope I can do it justice!
