Well, we have begun kindergarten and it's going really well. I didn't even cry on the first day!
Harper was SOOOOO excited about her first day!
Little sister has not been thrilled. She has been missing her best friend during the day and now I'm her only entertainment. I love my extra one on one time with her though.
Harper has a WONDERFUL teacher and she LOVES her. She is learning so much already and just absolutely loves school.
This is my favorite picture. My sweet girl. She has made a lot of friends and tells me "all the boys want to marry me." ha ha ha! I don't know if that's true or just what she thinks but I'm glad she had a lot of self confidence.
Daddy and his girls
One reason the first day went well for me is I planned a brunch for several moms I know from school right after drop off. It was a great distraction for me and a lot of fun to visit with other moms.
I figured people would stay maybe an hour but everyone stayed 2 or 3 hours and it was so much fun. I'm hoping to make this an annual tradition and it will probably grow as I meet more moms. No one in the group knew everyone so it was a fun way to meet some faces.
I pretty much used everything I already had to decorate except I borrowed a globe from my friend Mary because I thought it would be cute.
I served fruit, a breakfast casserole, sausage balls, cinnamon balls and mini muffins. I kept it simple.
My mom shared this picture with me of me on my first day of kindergarten. This was AFTER I got home. The teacher pinned notes to my shirt. ha! I guess they didn't have email back then. And I was laughing at my satchel. Do you think Harper looks like me?
I can't believe how much she has grown since her first year in preschool. I know this year is going to be amazing. It's already going so well and it's exciting and fun. I'm navigating getting everyone up early and packing lunches and figuring out the car line. I feel like I'm a freshman in college and a little lost but everyone has been so friendly and nice.
