I think most of us moms (and non-moms) are all so busy these days. We are great multitaskers. Sometimes I can't believe how many things I seem to juggle in a day or week. The last few months, I have juggled more than ever.
Besides being mom 24/7, I cook our meals, do the laundry, clean the house, grocery shop, drive us to Speech therapy a few times a week, work part-time, blog, am active on several committees at church, teach preschool choir and AWANA and help with women's ministry. I love doing all of these things, but it can be hard to keep track of all our activities plus work in appointments and friends and play dates and birthday parties. Every week there is some kind of hair appointment or dentist appointment or party or things I have to keep up with.
And I just described probably 90% of you reading today.
So how do you do it? How do you keep it all together?
For me, it's imperative to be organized and keep a good calendar and to-do list. I make sure I write everything in my calendar, and I check it several times a day and try to constantly look ahead to my week and plan accordingly.
I keep our grocery list on my phone, and Scott and I constantly add to it. I also keep lists both on paper and on my phone of things that need to be done or reminders of tasks.
I also have to really try to plan our days to work everything in. I want to save time every day to play and have fun, but I also have to work in time to work and time to blog and time to exercise. I go over the next day each night in my mind and try to plan when I will work out and what our meals will be and what our schedule looks like. Sometimes I even write out a loose schedule each night.
I also assign myself tasks each day such as mopping on one day and cleaning bathrooms another day or running errands. Breaking up things I need to do makes it so much less overwhelming than doing it all at once.
I feel like this makes me sound really rigid and I really go with the flow a lot, but I just find it helps me to feel more organized and on top of things the more I plan.
