We are on day three of being snowed in. Where we live, if it snows at all - everything basically shuts down. Schools are closed and everything gets cancelled. It started sleeting/snowing on Thursday morning and we ended up with about 10 inches of snow on top of ice. They don't really clear roads much so everyone basically just stays home.
Which is fun.
For a while.
And then cabin fever starts to hit.
And it has been SO bitter cold (like 1 degree this morning) that we haven't even played outside but about 10 minutes total. Tomorrow I think I will bring the snow inside for us to play with. It is so pretty to look at though.
I was noticing in all of the pictures of people here that most people and their kids have cute snow suits to wear. I have never even thought of buying snow suits because it rarely snows. In fact - I don't think it snowed at all the last two years. But I have a feeling this is going to be that rare year with a lot of snow so I may break down and buy some. Look at our pitiful outfits - especially mine. ha ha ha ha! Who cares, right?
I went shopping before the snow but I honestly didn't think we would be snowed in for more than a day or two. Church is cancelled tomorrow and I doubt they have school Monday so it could be a few days before we get back out. I was starting to scrape our pantry dry and plus we just needed an outing so Scott took us to Wal-Mart and Sonic this morning. What else could a girl need? It was just the lift we all needed.
The girls had fought so much on Friday but today we had such a pleasant day! We really had a fun time at home and I'm looking forward to another day tomorrow. I'm sad we had Christmas parties cancelled and Church programs re-scheduled but on the plus side - my house is clean and laundry is caught up and Christmas cards are addressed and being mailed out!
It's nice to hit the pause button sometimes.
The only drawback is there is something about being snowed in that makes you want to EAT ALL THE FOOD. I've really been trying to eat healthy and exercise and lose weight and this week has killed me. And I know I'm not alone on this. I think all my snowed in friends only want to discuss what they are eating!!! :-)
Hope you are staying warm and having a wonderful weekend!
