I love all the music in the movie. How can you possibly not think about the Little Mermaid and not start singing "Under the Sea"?
The girls and I got a copy of the movie and we watched it again. I love that Disney movies have messages in them for girls. Yes - a lot of it is about finding Prince Charming and people find that antiquated, but there are also some things I DO want my girls to learn (although I do hope they grow up to find their Prince Charming and pray for the guys they will marry daily). I love that in The Little Mermaid she has a dream to live out of the water and be a human and she follows that dream. She doesn't give up even when it looks like the odds are stacked against her. She finds her voice and that is exactly what I hope for my girls.
I pray they will set their sights on Big Dreams and pursue those dreams with confidence. I pray 1 Timothy 4:12 - "Let no one look down upon you because of your youth". I try to encourage my girls that they are smart and capable and can do anything. I try to build them up - not so they will ever be cocky but so they will have confidence to try anything they want to.
