Today was Harper's 4th birthday.
I love birthdays and I want to make them special. It's not about big parties or lots of presents to me. Those things are fine - but to me the fun thing about birthdays is just making the person feel special. I wanted to give Harper a special day. And I think it was pretty pretty great!
It worked out that the girls had "school" today so we took Hollis and Harper and I got to spend the morning just having fun.
Harper is so much like her daddy - but there are ways we are similar.
Like we both love donuts! So that's the way we started our day!
Harper's great Aunt Linda sent her a gift card to Barnes and Noble. Linda always gave us wonderful books for gifts and I love that she is continuing this with my girls. I don't know why I've never taken the girls to B&N. We had the BEST time. They have such a fun kids area and we had fun picking out some books. We got some great classic kid books and I let Harper have one princess book. ha!
When I asked Harper what she wanted to do on her birthday - she told me she wanted to go to the Jump place. So we went to the open play time and she had so much fun! She loves going down all the slides.
We left there and met daddy for lunch at Mimi's. The only place we ever eat it seems is Chick-fil-a so it was fun to go to an actual restaurant.
I love that Harper is finally at such a great place to go out to eat and do things with. I can't wait for a couple of years from now when Hollis gets to this place and we can do so many fun things together. (And two years ago I never thought we'd be here with Harper so now I know it will happen!)
Harper is always OBSESSED with my Lily and Laura bracelets. She always wants to wear one. So I told her several times that on her birthday - we would go get one just for her. I knew it would be pink and it was. She was so excited!
Something I didn't plan for today and a little sad part of our day - we had to take Dawson to the vet. We picked up Hollis from school and we all headed there. Poor Dawson has arthritis and it's really taken a turn for the worse. The vet said he was in bad shape. We are trying out some new things and I'm hoping it helps him.
The girls and I went to Wal-Mart and Harper picked out a birthday cake. She has been asking for a cake and she wanted chocolate. So we found a perfect one with pink and white icing. She was SO excited.
I love having this special day with my special girl.
