Today is all about Show us your Pets! Most of you know that this is my dog Dawson. Scott gave him to me for Christmas in 2002. A year before we got married. We had gone to Barnes and Noble one day in November or December and someone was outside selling little Bichon puppies. I had never seen a Bichon before but I held one and loved it so much. And then right before Christmas one cold night - Scott rang my doorbell and when I opened it - he pulled this little white ball of fur out of his coat. And it was love at first sight.
I put him in my bathroom right off my bedroom that night with a baby gate. He bounced and cried all night. I tried it again the next night. Same thing. So the third night I gave in and put him in bed with me. Seven years later and he still sleeps with me. Only now it's right between me and Scott.
Bichons are great dogs because they have sweet personalities and they don't shed! They are great for people with allergies.
But in these two pictures - you can see how life has changed this year. Dawson used to be the grand dog. He used to be #1 around here.
And someone has stolen his place. (Don't worry - my dad wasn't driving the 4 wheeler in either of these pictures. They just sat on it for pictures).
But Dawson will always be my first baby and I dread the day he ever goes to doggie heaven. He is my little shadow. He follows me constantly. He loves Scott but he is a momma's baby.
Tell us about your pets!?!?!
P.S. I'd also love it if you would go read Shaun's post and Patricia's post. They are worth a few minutes of your time!

Dawson is SO cute in that jersey! I'm totally in that "pet mom" stage of life before kids come into the picture.
Dawson is such a cutie - pets are just wonderful! I love your blog and loved your post about giving...so great! Have a nice weekend...
Oh, I wish I had a blog and I'd post all sorts of pictures of our 2babies, both bichons. We love them more than anything and they are also our shadows. Just constantly following us around and wanting to please us. We're expecting a baby in Feb so life will be changing for our dogs but just like Dawson, they will always be my first babies and have a special place in my heart (and bed).
I just read Shaun's post and I cried. wow how amazing is that
My doggie went to doggie heaven this morning. He went to take a nap and we could never wake him back up. He has been battling a rare form of cancer for several years and this past week has just been very hard on him. Your post made me smile and think back on all of the fun times we had with him. Dawson is just so cute! :)
p.s. i have been reading your blog since Harper was born. I just have never left a comment. Your blog is so fun and uplifting to read! :)
I don't have a blog, but I had the best pet...EVER. Of course, I might be a tad bias :) I found her at a truck stop in Mississippi and she was my constant companion for 10 1/2 years, until I had to have her put to sleep on Sept. 11 of last year. She was my best friend, and not a day goes by that I don't think of her and still tear up. Cherish all your days with your two kids :)
I had a Bichon! I loved her so much, they are such sweet dogs. Got her for my 13th birthday as a surprise and she was SO my dog. Loved everyone else in the family too but would get mad when I was away too long (summer camp) and then when I left for college. She would stalk around the house and not "talk" to me. Or when we all got home she would run around and say hi to everyone and then just sniff at me like "you LEFT me". My husband loved her too and she was supposed to come live with us when we got married, but cancer got her first. I still miss her sleeping next to me and it's been about 5 years since we lost her!
Dawson is super cute!
Two very precious babies you have!
Dawson is so cute and what a wonderful gift! Love the picture of him with your Dad and Harper with your Dad, wonderful times, wonderful memories!
Thanks for continuing to share the posts on Compassion thoughts, unbelievably moving.
Blessings today and always,

Dawson is a cutie! I have to say though Harper is too!
Summer :0)
I grew up with Bichons... We(well, my parents) have a champion and over the years she had 3 litters... It was always fun to have those lovely little cotton balls running around the house... they currently still have the momma who is 16 and 2 of her puppies who are 7.5.
My husband and I couldn't decide what kind of dog we wanted - he wanted a big dog, and I wanted a small dog... so we settled and got a Sheltie. He was supposed to be between 16 and 25 lbs, and was the runt of his litter. He is currently 5.5 yrs old and 42 lbs! So much for being small... but we love him like nothing else :-)
Cute.....
Such beautiful children you have!
It made me chuckle to see Grandaddy rooting for A&M, and then Arkansas in the next picture. :)
I grew up with 2 Bichon's and they both went to doggie heaven this year! They really are the best dogs!
Dawson is super cute in his jersey! LOVE it!
Dawson is just the cutest thing ever!!!!! How did you come up with the name Dawson by-the-way?? You were a Dawson's Creek lover, weren't you??? haha!!!
Dawson has such personality! Very cute and I can't wait to show off my pets!
This is really weird, but as I am reading this post I am holding my 3 month old daughter whose name is Harper. She is wearing the exact same outfit that your Harper is wearing in the picture with Grandpa! Even the brown pants that didn't come as an outfit with the little dress/shirt (from Wal-Mart, right?) Too weird not to share...
I love the cute t-shirt that your dog is wearing.
Love the photos.
My mom got a bischon and she has a big personality!
Awww so cute! I just added my link!
I totally understand your love for Dawson. My dog Penny went from sleeping in her crate in the kitchen to sleeping in her crate in the bedroom, to just sleeping in bed with me til the hubby went to bed to sleeping the whole night right between us. . .and the hubby thought she was an outside dog! ; ) I hope you have many, many more happy years with your sweet puppy!
