First of all - I was SO happy today because Harper had a great day in the nursery!! You have no idea how hard I have prayed today and it was so nice to go check on her twice and neither time was she crying or screaming. I'm so thankful for her sweet nursery workers who love on her! My parents were here today and got to go to church with us and see her in the nursery! And we went to lunch and she was so happy and did so good. OH it was just a great day!

My dad got home from India last night and we were so glad to have him home safe and sound. Tomorrow is his birthday and today is Grandparents day so we were glad to spend time with them! Harper is so blessed to have four wonderful grandparents in her life!
We were playing with her in her room and she started pulling up on me!!! She is just changing and growing so quickly these days!

I told ya'll yesterday about my "faith" dress and then I found out something SO amazing about it and I just have to share because I want to show you how God is at work even when you don't know it and feel like your prayers are not being answered.
But first I feel like I should share that YES - I love having a girl but I used to DREAM of having three boys. I would have been over the moon if we had had a boy. I don't want anyone to think I would have been unhappy with a boy. I dreamed of a boy playing football and I still secretly wish for a boy if we have another child. There is nothing sweeter than a little boy. It's just that I just always had this feeling I would have a daughter. I can't explain it but I just knew.
Anyway..........I think this is unbelievable. When I shared the story of the dress yesterday - the lady who I bought it from off of etsy left me a comment and then she e-mailed me to share something with me and it just gave me chills and made me cry. She has been reading my blog since Harper was born but had no idea she had one time made a dress for her until she saw it yesterday. And she remembered it because when she made it - she felt like God asked her to pray over the dress and to pray for the little girl who would be wearing it. She had no idea that at the the time there WAS no little girl yet or that the little girl would really need prayers at one point. See how God goes ahead and works in such amazing ways???

HE LOVES US - OH HOW HE LOVES US!

And finally - look who is starting to crawl!!!! When did she get so big???

So this is my 1000th post!!! WOW - that is a whole lot of rambling from me. So in honor of my 1000th post - I was wondering if you read my blog - I would love to hear from ALL of you - even the lurkers who have never commented - and I would love to hear one thing you are thankful for today! It would be great to start off this week with a LONG list of uplifting praises and I would love to hear from EVERYONE who is reading!!! Ya'll hear from me every day - now I'd like to hear from you!!!!

Hey Kelly! I LOVE the video of Harper crawling! Mister Owen never crawled, only butt-scooted, which I hadn't even seen until he started it. If you haven't seen aa baby do this... check him out...

http://simmonsfamilyupdate.blogspot.com/2009/06/butt-scoot-caught-on-video.html

I crack up because he does it ALL over the house. For this I am GRATEFUL today. We were told almost one year ago that he would need a heart transplant because his 1/2 a heart is just failing. Ya know what?? Almost ONE year later and he is still in heart failure, but holding his own. We couldn't be Happier.

Thanks for reminding me about Grandparent's Day... we'll have to plan a special post. :)

Hi Kelly!
I LOVE your blog :) Congrats on your 1,000 post!

I am thankful to be a Mom. We have one daughter who is 11 and we adore her. A few years after having her, I ended up having four miscarriages (one nearly killed me). I felt when we had our daughter that she was a miracle, and I now totally believe that with all of my heart.
I feel like the luckiest most blessed Mom in the world.
Love,

Thank you some much for your sweet blog! It helps bring my spirits up on day when I take life for granted. It makes me realize that some people have it so much harder than I do. And when I think I wish I had just 2 seconds of alone time your blog make we appreciate the wild "all boy" 2 year old running around!

I am thankful for my husband and our healthy baby boy!

Kelly that is an amazing story!!!! Mario and I are sitting here in utter amazement. The neat thing is at church this a.m. our pastor taught on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. We talked about how the spirit intercedes on our behalf...and how it is always in accordance with God's will. No doubt the Holy Spirit lead this dear lady to pray for Harper!!!

I am so thankful today for salvation through Christ Jesus and the power of His Word! I am thankful for His Holy Spirit that dwells in me and I am so grateful for the opportunity to raise two precious children! God is so good!

I have been reading since the beginning of the year! Actually, I can't get enough--I just read back through the old posts from before you were pregnant, and have been consumed with reading it this weekend. What an amazing story. :-) I am thankful that my husband and I are getting on the path to Financial Peace and are following through with some of our goals. Thanks for the great posts!

I LOVE your blog Kelly.... everything about it makes me smile! As far as thankfulness goes, I am thankful for an amazing husband who is working in Italy for the next 6 weeks without the loving arms of his family around him. I keep myself busy with my 3 children (Brady, Drew and Ella Kate) and I get as many hugs and kisses as I please, but he is alone in a different (albeit beautiful) country without any of the little joys that I get to experience daily. Yet, he does all of these things to better our family. What a blessing my husband is to our life!

Hi from Georgia. I will comment b/c you asked me too, lol. I've been a VERY FAITHFUL follower ever since Harper was born. (my daughter had been a follower and told me about Harper right after she was born and the rest is history) I too prayed so very hard for Harper and her mama and daddy, my heart went out to you and Scott having to endure this agony.
God is soooo good and you are a very blessed family. I love reading about your daily lives, your parents, your friends and last but most important the praises you send up to our wonderful Savior. You bless me daily thru your life although you never know you do. Thanks so much Kelly. God continue to bless you all. Debby (age 62 yr)

Hi, one of your fellow southern bloggers here. I love reading your blog. Your little girl is so cute. My little boy is almost 14 months so I know exactly what you mean about them growing up so fast. I keep wondering what happened. I could swear I just gave birth yesterday. So, what am I thankful for? I am thankful for my husband, my son, my church, my family who lives in the same town as us, my family's health, the upcoming fall season, watching my son experience new things that I take for granted, wonderful food, and a soft bed (there are so many in this world that have neither). Have a great week Kelly!!

Kelly, Reading your post makes my heart swell and doesn't surprise me in least. God is so good. I have come across moments like that myself in my life and during the years after my sons were born. Its incredible.

I am thankful for my miracle babies. I am so thankful I celebrated my sons fifth birthday this weekend and the anniversary of becoming a mom. I prayed for so many years and will never forget what it felt like to hold him for the first time. It was unbelievable and felt almost has unbelievable as the thought of him being five years old one day. Harper is growing so fast...I know you cherish ever second of it. Continue to because you blink and she will be starting school. Its so bittersweet.

I was having a 'bad day' but reminded myself all the things I am thankful for. I am Australian, I am educated, I speak English, I have a job/car/house, I have enough money in the bank till my next pay check (not much but enough!) and most importantly that I had the strength to leave an abusive relationship in June this year. So many women don't. I did. That makes the bad days good.
Love you Kelly, love your blog, love Harper, check in everyday and you have bought God back into my heart. I am thankful for you too!

I have so much to be thankful for. We have five beautiful children that were born healthy and have stayed that way for the most part. My oldest is 27 and the youngest is 14. My oldest had my grandson Nathan, whom I am so proud of, he is so precious. He is on your prayer blog. He will have his second open heart surgery on Thursday the 17th, which is also is daddy's birthday. I had always dreamed of the day that my oldest daughter would have me a grandchild. They did not get pregnant right away either, it took about 9 months or so, but we knew they were trying. During this time I had a dream that there was a problem with the baby, but I didn't dream exactly what was wrong. I believe the Lord was preparing me for Nathan. I see that now, I did not see it then. My daughter has always been a planner and had it all mapped out for her life. Everything went smoothe until now. The Lord is teaching us something through Nathan, I believe that. Nathan is 7 months old, he has brought so much joy into our lives and I pray for that to continue for a long time. Thank you for all the prayers, and I am so thankful for him. Debbie

I also enjoy your blog, Kelly. I found it through Boomama and clicked on it when it said you were having your baby after a long wait and lots of prayers. It is a story VERY similar to mine and I was due with my first a few weeks later. Then when you had your scare with Harper I kept reading (and praying) and wanted to find out the outcome. Again, we had a very similar thing happen. Our sweet baby boy was born in February and he also gave us a scare with complications due to low blood sugar...anyway, long story short- he is doing wonderful now, too and we enjoy keeping up with Harper knowing that our little guy is right behind her with the different milestones, etc. Thanks for sharing your story and blessing so many lives.
Blessings,
Dyan (Cayce's mom)

I wind down every night with a trip to Kelly's Korner. I haven't figured out why I feel just a little bit better after reading about a strangers day, but nonetheless, I look forward to reading your posts.
Your little girl is only three weeks older than my little girl. I think that's part of why I enjoy your blog so much - because you're right at the exact stage I am, each with 7 month old baby girls, each our first child.
As for what I'm currently grateful for - of course the health and safety of loved ones, but today I'm feeling so much gratitude and excitment for the new home our family has been in now for three days!!!! What an exciting adventure being home owners and decorating your very own house! It was quite the treck getting to this point, but I'm certain the Lord had a plan in mind for us and I pray we learned the lessons He needed us to learn (so hopefully we won't have to go through these trials again. Of course I would take the trials we just overcame over the trials that are occupying your prayer blog any day!)
Thanks for letting this stranger into a glimpse of your life.

I love your blog and I think I've left a comment before, but if not, I hope you know what an awesome, refreshing voice of faith that you are in the blog world!

I am thankful for my 2 year old, Bennett, who had a scary start to life due to an infection at birth (similar to Harper's), spent 16 days on ECMO, and is alive today after numerous miracles along the way. We are Christians, SEC fans (UT), I love Sonic, and my name is Kelly, so we have a lot in common :). Continued blessings to your precious family~ God is good!

Hi Kelly, I have commented a few times, but mostly lurk! Today, not only am I thankful that you share your life with us but I am THAT mom with the 3 boys and OH HOW I AM THANKFUL!!! I always pictured myself with 3 girls. Each time I prayed so hard for a little girl, but God had other plans in store for me! I too, had infertility problems. It took us 3 very long years to have our 2nd one. I would cry each and every month praying and asking God for another baby. He sure does know timing and it all just worked out so perfectly.

Keep on blogging, you put a smile on my face each and every day! :)

Today, for the very first time in the four years that I have been volunteering as a sorority chapter advisor, an undergrad told me I was doing a good job and thanked me. I about cried. It was exactly what I needed to hear today and God knew it. I have had one of the worst weeks ever - one of those weeks that feels like it was really several months, not just a few days. I have never been so down about my role in this organization. But today, those kind words, renewed my spirit and reminded me why I am there. I am so grateful today to know someone cares and to remember all of the wonderful things that have kept me involved for so many years.

I am thankful for my daughter. I am so lucky to have her even more so with all of the challenges we have been through in her short life.
She was 7 weeks early, 6 weeks in the nicu in 2 seperate hospitals, one being about 300 miles form home. We have had feed issues that have req a ng feed tube, and have ftt (failure to thrive) At 10 months (8 adj) just 12 lbs she also has a ASD (arial septal defect) whch we hope will close on its own (hole in the atria part of the heart), if not she will have to have some surgery.

She is though the highlight of my life and my pride and joy. She is such a happy baby ans is so easy going with all that she has endured in her short life , I too am an older mom and your post mean so much and I could have written them myself but I am the quite shy one and never get it down.

I also love your prayer blog, it is truly amazing the power of prayer!!

Thank you for your blog, you are a wonderful writer!! keep up the blogging

I have been reading your blog for quite some time now. A friend had requested that Harper be prayed for when she was sick. It was so much fun to read about Harper while I was awaiting the birth of my son. On the days when I felt awful I was reminded of all the joy I would feel when I met my baby boy. Now I am beyond grateful and thank God everyday for my beautiful little boy!

I am thankful for my beautiful three month old daughter Allyson! God does work is mysterious ways indeed. I was married before and were unable to conceive, we did two IUI's with clomid, no success after 3 years. I ended up divorcing this man two years ago because he became abusive and was cheating on me. I then met an AMAZING man a year later who I would marry and have a baby with immediately, we were not even trying. God was protecting me in so many ways even through all the heartbreak of infertility. He was telling me.."I know what is best for you." I have an amazing husband and daughter to prove that. I've commented before but not often. I came across your blog when Harper was in the NICU and everyone was praying for her, and I've been reading ever since.

I'm thankful for God answering my prayers. When I was 22 and my husband was 20, we decided we were ready to have a baby. A very difficult year later, we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. It was hard to understand why we couldn't conceive at the prime of our lives, but God taught us so much through it. We began fertility treatments and I got pregnant the very first cycle. I now type this one-handed while I hold and feed my precious 3 week old baby boy in my arms.

Your vacation looked wonderful!

One thing I'm thankful for today: my neighbor who let me use his oven when I was baking cookies and realized that mine was not working. What was I going to do with sheets of cookie dough and a gas company that wasn't coming to fix it until Friday? It was great bonding time... and he benefitted as I left him 6 chocolate dipped pecan shortbreads to enjoy :-)

Have a wonderful week. Glad your dad is home safe!

I have posted a few times. I sent Harper's hot pink tutu a few months ago.

Tonight I am so thankful for my 2 beautiful daughters. It took us 10 years to have our first. We endured 3 losses before her. We had all but given up. After a stressful pregnancy and life-threatening complication topped off by an emergency c-section at 35 weeks, by beautiful miracle daughter was born. She's 3 1/2 now and the size of a 1st grader! Her sweet baby sister joined us in November of 08. 5 years ago if anyone had told me I would have 2 beautiful, healthy daughter someday, I might have laughed then cried. But here they are. Definitive proof one should never give up.

And to top it off, I have a wonderful husband of 13 years. He is amazing and I am blessed to be his wife.

Kelly! I have never left a comment, but I have been reading you blog since January when Harper was first born and sick. I am an NICU nurse, so her story was close to home. I prayed for her, and I was so thankful when she got well and didn't need ECMO (We have ECMO in our unit, and I know it's hard for parents and has lots of ups and downs. I was also super jealous of the pink and blue cribs! We don't have that.) Anyway, I kept reading after she got well and was home with you and your husband. I have enjoyed reading ever since then (I even went back and read most of your old posts from before Harper!). Your blog has been such a blessing to me. I read several blogs a day, but I always make sure yours is the last one I read because I know it's going to be positive and uplifting. So, I am thankful for your blog and babies who get well and go home from the NICU :)

I've been reading your blog since the day that Big Mama had your pregnancy announcement listed as one of her "favorite things". I've laughed, cried and prayed with you! Congratulations!

Hi Kelly! I'm a lurker of sorts. I usually don't comment, but I enjoy it. God bless you, and I pray He gives you that baby boy!

Hey Kelly! I have been reading since before you were pregnant with Ms. H and cried with you when you made the announcement. I am a military wife from Texas, but I currently live in Germany. I look forward to watching as Harper grows up, and I am very excited about your trip with Compassion!

Well, I'm thankful for my amazing daughter. She's almost 2 and I can see her changing and learning new things everyday. I love it! She starts dance class tonight and I cannot wait. She's a rough and tumble kind of girl so it will be nice to channel all the energy!
