Today was play group day at my friend Ginger's! Harper wore a new outfit I've been saving for her until she grew into it! (of course she spit up all over me and her right before we left. Isn't that the way it always goes?)
We had a great time at Ginger's. She fixed a yummy lunch and the BEST banana pudding that I ate TOO much of. I enjoy visiting with my friends so much. Harper is starting to notice the other kids.
I didn't do a good job of taking pictures but this is a good one of Amanda and Jaime and their little girls!
Tonight I am taking dinner to my friend Caryn and her husband who just had a little baby girl Sophia. She will be another friend for Harper in the nursery. I wanted to make a fun dessert so I baked brownies in a tart pan.
And topped them with strawberries. I thought it would be a little fancier than just the normal pan of brownies! Is it wrong that now I want to keep that tray here with me and eat all of those???
My little Harper Brown in her Brown outfit
Okay - here is a question for you:
Ever since Harper was born - she has slept in the little footed pajamas from Carters. I mostly have bought them at Wal-Mart. I love the way they look and I want to keep her warm. I have a two part question:
1. I've noticed that after 6-9 months - it's hard to find footed pajamas. What do you do? Do you put socks on their feet? Because I know good and well Harper will have those socks off in 10 seconds flat. But I don't want her feet to get cold. She has also recently every time she wakes up and I go in her room - she has her pajama legs completely off of her. She kicks until they are snapped off??? I don't know if she gets hot or just kicks so hard they come off. I'm almost wanting to go to the two piece pajamas just to keep them on her.
2. When can you cover them with a blanket? Is it not until they are in a toddler bed? I want to err on the cautious side so I'm sure I won't until she's much older but I just don't know when that is? At one year? At two years? How do you keep their feet from getting cold? I worry about her every night.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 379 of 379 Newer› Newest»I also used a sleep sack with my little one who is now 3. They come in multiple sizes and materials. Think Target carries them as well as Babies R Us.
My sister sleeps her son in a baby sleeping bag. It keeps his legs nice and warm like a blanket would, without the fear of suffocation. It goes over their whole body, and zips from the top down so the zipper doesn't bother their chin or neck. They also come in a variety of thickness and materials. She has thick warm ones for the winter and lighter cotton ones for the summer. Then she just puts him in a onesie under it in the summer and regular sleepers when it's colder.
Kelly,
I use a Halo Sleep Sack from Babies R Us. They have four sizes and the largest is really big, so you can have Harper in them for a long time. They come in cotton and fleece, so when you need a warmer blanket, you can switch up. It is perfect for us and I don't worry about a blanket in the bed, but I know Aaron's warm.
Iam not a mom so cant tell you on the baby stuff but Harper is so cute
Childrens Place has the Best Pajamas but the worst online site so I hope you have one near you. They always have footed PJ and they have the zipper. Thats why I love them. Alex wore them and still does. They have a ton to choose from and they have fleece and non fleece. You can usually find good sales for them as well!
Let me know if you decided to buy some from there!
Costco has some that zip right now that are great and go up to 24 months, I believe. Baby Gap PJ's are my favorite and they run big. I know they have a 6-12 size that should fit Harper. Lena Kate is still wearing the 3-6 mo size and her other clothes are 6-9 and a few 12 mos. They are so soft and light weight but will still keep her warm....check'em out. They are a little more than Target/Walmart at 14.50 each, but so worth it.
I also find more footed jammies at Kohl's (or a Carter's outlet) than at Walmart. And they are harder to find after 12 months. We switched to the flannel and fleece ones that snapped (I know, MUCH more work than a zipper)for the winter and then put on some socks that were fitted, and Lauren never kicked them off. We didn't start using a blanket with her until about 9 months...we've had no problems with it.
Children's place also sells the footed ones in bigger sizes.
Harper is adorable!!
We have had a huge ordeal trying to find footie pajamas that Avery could not get her feet out of the foot hole of!
Our answer: The Children's Place carries footie pajamas year-round, and they have elastic in the ankle AND they zip up, so she can't get her feet out! They're the best!
I really like the Gymboree gymmies and the childrens place footed pjs! I also use the 2 piece Carters ones of my 1 year old little boy and I just now started covering him up with a thin blanket and he does great with it!
I love Harper's brown outfit!!!!!
I really like Children's place for pjs! They stay soft wash, after wash, after wash, etc! Socks are ok too! I'm a bad mommy my son has pretty much always slept with a blanket. He started sleeping with a pillow when he was 2.
I remember finging them at Sears up to 4T sizes. But that's been years ago! (My oldest was in 4T at just over 12 mos of age.)
If you have a Carters store by you they make footed pj's up to 5T. I will say that once my daughter started trying to walk, footed pj's became my nightmare! She would slip and fall right after getting out of bed and I had to change her immediately into pants. I started putting her in the two piece pj's this summer and that's what I've been buying for the fall. She's had her "blankie" (a small thermal blanket) since she was 6 months old and I stopped swaddling her.
As always good luck! I love watching Harper grow up!
I've had four kids and they all had blankets from the day they were born. The youngest is now six, and back then there were no rules about blankets. What we did was make their cots only half way up. It's hard to explain, but we'd put on the fitted sheet, then the top sheet so it only came up half-way up the cot, then the blanket or cot quilt over that. That way the blanketed part of the bed was never longer than the baby and they could never be totally covered by it.
With each new baby we found there were new 'rules' about how to take care of them. For example, we had cot bumpers with the first two babies but by the time the third one came along we were told they are a strangulation risk.
It sure is hard being a first-time Mum.
Kate
We loved fleece footed pjs from Children's Place. They were fantastic - very warm, comfortably roomy, and they wear better than any fleece pyjamas we've tried from anywhere else.
Let me echo what everyone else is saying. You can find footed PJs at Children's place. We use them but get her a sleep sack. We use one and it is so handy. My baby just started to walk and he can even walk in his.
I bought mine from Sams they were Carters brand. Well obviously not "mine"... but my daughters. They have the cutest little footed cotton pj's that my little one wore all year around. Harpers adorable as always!
children's place has footed pj's 3/%25, sometimes a sale, sometimes 15%
Sleep sack is the way to go. Also, my son is 2, and we can still find footie jammies.
Oh, my gosh, that bow is just TOO CUTE. What an adorable little model she is. :-)
Hi, my 3 year old who wears size 4T still wears the footed pjs in the winter time. Target is a great place to find them. The Carter store here carries them for at least 3T, but I think even larger. My little Tilly, who just turned one, has a blanket in her bed and has for several months. It is one of the Little Giraffe blankets, so it is not huge, and mostly she does not keep it on her. Maybe this is helpful?? Love your pictures of Harper in her brown - so sweet!
Children's Place is the place for footed pjs. They have the cutest patterns and they are zipper sleepers so you don't even have to mess with snaps. I'm slightly obsessed with them and have to purchase at least 3 everytime they come out with a new pattern (they are 3 for $25). They also have blanket (fleece) sleepers for winter months that are pretty stinkin' cute as well.
We do one of those sleepers and a halo sleep sack every night. Works like a dream!
Harper is adorable by the way.
Hi Kelly!
From the time my son was born and didn't want to be swaddled anymore, I have used a "sleep sack." I found it at Babies R Us. It goes on like a shirt and zippes up...it looks like a potato sack. He is 17 months old and is still wearing it! You can put socks on underneath it and they can't get them off...I was afraid to use a blanket also and this has worked wonderfully!
I also love/use footed pj's from The Children's Place. I love them because they have zippers which are so easy to use when changing diapers which becomes more challenging the older and more squirmy they get.
Children's Place has great pj's. Target usually has larger sizes in footed pj's. Especially at Christmas time - even adult sizes.
First time commenting here!! I find footed pajamas at The Children's Place - in fleece and in cotton, and they go up to at least 3T/4T (not sure about higher than that). Also, Carters footed PJs go to size 4 or 5, also - I've found them at a Carter's Outlet. If you have one of those nearby, you might want to check it out!
Children's Place always has footed pj's in larger sizes.
My daughter just turned 1 and I had to start buying her pj's at Old Navy or Gap bc Target doesn't go above a size 9 month! But Old Navy and Gap both have pj's on sale now. I just bought my girl some from Gap the other day and they are darling! Check their websites too, they always have so much more online! We started giving her a blanket a couple months ago and she has always been fine with it.
I won't reiterate what everyone else said, but I will make a couple of suggestions! When buying footed pj's for a few months from now, make sure that they have grippers on the bottom of the feet. Some of the "baby" ones don't. Once she starts pulling up she will definitely need them on her feet! Also, I wouldn't recommend the sleep sacks. She won't be able to crawl in them or pull up. She will be doing both of those things VERY soon.
Just a couple of tips! I bought several sleep sacks last winter and then couldn't use them.
i have never found footed PJ's higher hen 9 months. you can try Macy's. as for a blanket when they can roll over on their own. my youngest is 5 months and we put on on him now. he is rolling so i put a receiving blanket on him. something small but covers.
I haven't had any trouble finding footed pj's until at least 18-24 months. Try Carter's and Kohl's.
We use the Sleep Sack instead of a blanket. You can find it at any Babies R Us.
I know what you mean about it being hard to find bigger footed pjs. I have had the hardest time, since my Jonah is a little big. He seems to get hot, so honestly I have put him in two piece stuff and probably will because it seems to be lighter weight. I did recently find a lightweight footed pj at Target that was Circo brand. But I think they just went up to 9 months! As for the the blanket, I've been putting a blanket on Jonah for a month now. He's is able to move all over that bed and I just never have really worried about it. He can pull it off and usually has when I check on him.
I agree with all of the Carter's PJs posts. They make them all the way up to 5T I believe and they are all really cute and comfy. I am also a fan of the Gerber sleepers too, but I will say you have to wash them twice to make them soft. I like the Gerber ones because they come in a two pack (at Target and WalMart) and they zip, which is great. I let EMily start sleeping with a blankey when she was about 8 or 9 months old. The sleep sack is also a goos suggestion if you are worried about her getting cold and needing a blanket. Happy shopping :)
Go ahead and cover her up, I think she'll be fine. Just don't use a big thick comforter type cover. I use a crocheted afghan (sp?) to cover up my 23 month old and have from day one. (oops, she's the 3rd so we are probably a little more relaxed than we should be!) I started buying her the adorable little gowns (Carters, from Wal-Mart) and they are so precious and comfy. She looks like a doll! As for her feet, my kids are hot natured and never worn socks to bed. But, we do live in Alabama! Good luck, Harper is a cutie and you are doing great!
Children's Place and Carter's have great zip footed pajamas. Harper is such a cutie!
I had the same problem last year. My son would not keep shoes on for anything when we went places so I actually needed footed PJ's to wear outside when it was cold so he would have something on his feet that he couldn't pull off. I finally found footed PJ's at Macy's and L.L.Bean. Try those places.
I love the pictures of her in brown!!!

How cute is she! in brown!
The cupcakes look delicious too! :)
Children's place has the best footed PJ's!!!
I recommend trying a Halo sleep sack. I think that's what they are called anyway. Its the blanket that they wear...and it zips up in the front. We love ours!
Footed p.j.'s from Children's Place are the best!! They zip too!
Wow, you've got a ton of comments!!
Other people have covered footie jammies, so I'll throw out this tidbit. My daughter would always pull her socks off right away, even if it was freezing cold. I solved that problem by getting the Ministar soft-soled baby shoes from Target. They're adorable, made of leather, and she COULD NOT get them off! She wore them until she was about 2 1/2, and never did figure out how to get them off!
Even though they're leather, they're very lightweight - I never felt like her feet got too warm with thin socks & those shoes on. She wore them to bed a lot, because our old house gets COLD in the winter.
Best of luck!
Love footed pj's. I could always find them at Sears or JCPenny. Always used blankets with my babies (4 very grown children now). Sometimes they were knitted by family members or even quilts. If I was cold chances were, they were cold!

We have used sleep sacks for my twins after they outgrew their swaddle blankets. Just enough to keep them warm and they have fleecy and cotton ones, depending on the season.
Carters still makes footed pjs up to 18 months I believe and maybe even 24 months. Also Childrens place has some good footed sleepers for 12 mths and 18 mths. Allie had the 12 mths last winter so I know they had them then. She is 15 months now and uses a blanket at night. All of mine have used them before switching to a toddler bed.
We got my oldest daughter's footed PJs at Children's Place on up until she was 24 months. They are just the cutest things in them. I wish they made them for adults.
Crissy
I have to echo that the Halo Sleep Sack is the best hing. No blanket needed and no need to worry since it can't get caught up on their little face. Also, the Carter's stores have footed pjs. My two year old rarely sleeps in anything put them. The biggest issue is that they just aren't as cute as the ones that they make for the little ones. I don't think ya'll have Costco out there, but they sell Carter's footed jammies for half the price of even the Carter's stores. You might try Costco.com.
We use Halo sleep sacks - fleece for cooler months and cotton for summer. We just put our little one in the sleep sack with just a pajama top on underneath when it is warm. We love them & they are often on sale at Babies R Us when you buy 2 or more. The Halo website often has sales, too. Harper is such a doll!
Wow that's a lot of comments...good luck reading them and I'm probably repeating a few. As mom of 6 we buy our footed PJ's @ The Children's Place, GAP, and Gymboree...but I have used a blanket since they could crawl and move around in the crib. However, most nights my little monkey (now 15 mos.) is uncovered and doesn't seem to mind. Right now he wears tshirt and short pajamas and seems to be fine w/ the blanket just laying next to him. Good luck...and Harper so makes me want another little girl!
Carters makes "kick proof" socks believe it or not...my little girl wouldn't keep socks on either & my MIL stumbled upon the greatest find ever: kick proof socks! ha!
My son is 14 months old. He still wears the footed pjs and will til he is about 4...My daughter Emma wore them until she started to potty train.
I get his from the Children's place and gymboree.
He still does not sleep with a blanket. that scares me. Not sure when they can.
I have found that LLBean has some great kids footed sleepwear. They are nice and toasty. They also zipper so maybe Harper couldn't undress herself!
Umm can I please say YUM for the brownies! Looks so good, I may have to make some soon! Thanks for posting such a delicious picture I could eat it! :)
I didn't get a chance to read all the comments, but Carter's is fab about having the larger footed pjs, WalMart will start to get them out fairly soon, and Babies R Us will have some version most of the year!
I'd look into a sleep sack... as much b/c of the suffocation possibilities as the fact that most babies/toddlers move around a LOT when they sleep! My 2 y/o will usually nap w/ her sheet on most of the time, but at night, forget it... So not only do you run the risk of them burrowing down in it and not being able to breathe, but it's kind of silly to have on them when they're just going to kick it off! :)
My boys all stayed in those footed pjs until they were almost three! You can find them at Children's Place for sizes up to 3T and they are really good prices...usually 3 for $25 and they're really cute patterns and soft.
Granted I am not a mommy yet but have been a nanny for many years. Most of the familes I have nannied for started using a blanket in the bed when the child could roll over and move around. Also, have you tried a sleep sack. Not sure where to get them but have worked for many familes that have used them and enjoyed them.
Harper is a doll in that cutsy brown outfit. My 2 year old daugther still wears footed pj's in the winter. We buy her the Carter's fleece footed jammies at Sam's every year. They seem to be the cheapest there. Also, she started sleeping with a blanket when she was about 18 months old b/c we were entering the winter months and after napping with blankets during the day I felt confident that she could handle not getting herself tangled up in it. She probably could've had one sooner but she slept good and didn't seem to mind. Now, at just 28 months she's sleeping in a big full size bed with a big blanket and she pulls the blanket over her head every night as she goes to sleep. Scared me to death when she first started that, but now I realize that's just how she likes to sleep.
The brownies look delicious! Love the brown outfit, too.
As for the pj's, you can get them at Carters. I've seen them up to size 8! If not there, Costco has them also in the T sizes and beyond...really cheap too! I just bought a bunch of 3T ones for my daughter at Carters and Costco. As for the blanket, I gave both my kids a blanket after they turned a year old, and my Ped says it was okay.
Oh, and wanted to add, sleep sacks are great! My 2 1/2 year old wore them until just a few months ago. No need for a blanket, then!
Have you tried a sleep sack? (The brand I have is by Halo and I've seen them at ToysRUs.) You can dress Harper in PJs without feet & just zip her into the sack. By the way, they zip down toward the feet, so unless she's houdini, she'll stay in it.
IN addition to the other comments, the disney store has footed pj's as well. Also, you may want to try a sleep sac for the fall/winter anyway.
Harper's outfit is so cute! How fun it looks to have a little girl!
Colten has always slept with a blanket. He slept right bedside me in a sidecar type crib for the longest time, then I moved him into his room and by then he could roll both ways and his blanket was a crocheted one that he could easily breathe through if he did cover his face. Now, he's pulling up in the crib, so I don't worry about it as much since he can pretty much get out of anything now!
The footed pajamas haven't worked for us since it got warm. Our a.c. in the house we rent is too small for the house, so it's not as efficient. It's not as cold in here as I would like and Colten has alwasy been a warm baby, so I stopped putting him in footed pjs. Which makes me sad because his older brother always had such cute footed pjs and now they are just sitting in a drawer!
Kohls has all their Carters pj's on sale right now and they go up to 4T I think! And I ALWAYS use the zip up pjs as they are so much easier to get on and off...so maybe that will help with her kicking and them becoming unbuttoned. Children's Place also has great footed pjs in cotton and fleece for the winter! LOVE Harper's outfit!!! She's just getting so big and cuter than ever! Oh, and I have never really given my kids blankets or loveys or anything because they never seemed interested and they would just kick them off anyway. The only thing they ever needed was their thumb (all 3 of them)! Ha! On the really cold nights, I would just layer them up with a long sleeve onsie under their fleece pjs.
So I may be the "bad mommy" but at 5 months my baby girl sleeps with a blanket...she does like to pull it over her face right before she falls asleep but I go in right after and tuck it around her little body pretty tight and after she's asleep she doesn't pull it up anymore.
I buy a lot of her jammies (or Gymmies as they call them there) at Gymboree...Marley is petite and they are tighter fitting in the body. She's also got lots from Kohls, Carter's (the outlet) and The Children's Place. We've also been spending a lot of time at Toys R Us lately and they have quite a few bigger ones with footies (with the rubber on the feet) in the baby clothes section.
Hope that helps...if you want to meet Marley visit us at www.littlebitmazurek.blogspot.com
Enjoy!
Hi-Kelly! I just found your blog and I enjoy reading it so much! Harper is such a cutie! I have an 11 month old son and I am also a stay at home mom.
We have used the Halo Sleepsacks since our baby was little. We have loved them! They zip right up and keep him warm all night. They are safe also! I think you should try them with Harper!
You should be able to find bigger size footed pj's.
Another idea for when you put her in two piece pj's and she won't keep socks on is you can shut the vent a little in her room while the a/c is on at night. That way her little feet won't get cold without a blanket.
I so do not blame you for wanting to keep those brownies :P
Don't worry about a blanket yet. Use a sleepsack instead of a blanket. :-)
I love Harper in her brown outfit!!!
You have had a ton of comments so who knows if you will even get to this one, but
1. My daughter still wears footed pajamas and she is almost 3 and wears a 4T. We get them mostly from the Carter's store...or Children's Place.
2. With my first I started giving her a blanket when she could move it away from her face...probably 9 months or so. With my 2nd, she has had a blanket for a few months. I swaddled her up until about 2 weeks ago but she sleeps with a "lovey" and has for awhile. She likes to chew on it and put it over her face to sleep...scary, I know but I keep an eye out for her and then move it away from her face after she falls asleep. I cover her with a blanket every night from her waist down....she is 5 months old. Second babies are so different...moms are so much more relaxed. I don't worry about her with a blanket at all. Have fun reading all the advice...
Several other people have posted this, but Children's Place footed PJs are THE BEST!!! If you don't have one near you, they're online and offer flat rate shipping of $5. The regular price is okay, and they have great sales from time to time. These PJs are the only ones I like to put my girls in. They have grippies on the feet for when they're walking, and a little elastic around the ankles to keep their feet in.
I also agree with the sleep sacs -- very comfy, but once they're crawling and walking it's rough for the little while before bedtime that they're in PJs.
I started letting my first sleep with a blanket when she was about 20 months (could've started earlier but it was summer!). At that point I was sure she would move it if it got over her face. Blankets before that make me nervous, too. My daughter who's Harper's age will be in fleece footie PJs (from Children's Place!) this winter. Whoa...sorry for the rambling comment. Harper sure is precious -- thanks for all the posting you do!
kohl's always has tons of footed jammies (usually carter's brand). brax is 2 and i just bought him several 3T footed jammies! they look ridiculous, they are so big, but he won't stay put in his sleep so a blanket does no good. i'm like you, i don't want to worry all nite that they are cold!
Hi Kelly, this is my first comment (although I've been reading your Blog since before Harper's birth. My sweet Hannah was born shortly after on 1-22-09!)
Anywho, Children's Place has tons of footed jammies, and most of theirs are zipper not snaps. Also, they often run awesome sales like 3 for $20. As far as the blanket (I have a 23 mo old and 7 mo old) I would watch Harper when she's playing on the floor; cover her with a blanket, even place it over her head and face- if she can easily free herself from it which I'm sure she can, you're probably in the clear to use one now. Best of luck!!
Footie jammies are great until they are potty trained. My poor boy had a huge accident at 2 because he couldn't get his jammies unzipped. Both of my kids tend to run warm, ok hot, so I don't mind uncovered feet. Both my boys have had crochet blankets almost from day one. They were swaddled in them and now they cuddle them. But I'm so not the overly cautious parent. In fact I need to wrap this up, I just heard Jonathan tell his brother to get off the table!
My 12 week old sleeps in long sleeve Baby Gap pajamas without feet. I lay a blanket on him from the waste down so that it is mostly all down around his feet. He kicks his feet up a lot and the blanket is actually tucket beneath his feet by morning, which is nice because they are completly covered. He has always slept with a blanket, not near or around his head of course. I would try the blanket. My little boy grows out of the footed pj's too fast, so the long sleeve without feet is good for me and he can wear them longer.
Carters makes footed jammies all the way up to 5T, maybe even bigger. If you have a Carters store near you you can find them there or look online. The zipper ones would be harder for her to get off. My 2 y/o wore the footed jammies until she potty trained, now she wears the 2-piece. My 6 y/o still has a pair of 5T footed jammies that she'll try to squeeze herself into sometimes.
I love sleep sacks and the sizes go until a year and are quite generous. Babies R Us also has footed pjs up to 12 months.
Sleep sacks! They are the best- like a blanket, but you zip the baby up in them. They stay covered and you rest easy knowing your baby is ok with no actual blanket to worry about. :)
when you use just a blanket sleeper in the cold months, for some reason their feet can get cold in them. put a little pair of socks, a snuggly kind on underneath. that keeps them warmer. also, if it is cold and their feet won't stay in the foot of the pj's put a little sock on underneath and they grip the pj's
I would switch her to teh 2 piece pj's that snap at the bottom of the shirts to the pants. I always thought that was safer. I also liked using the Halo sleeper sacks with a long sleeve onsie underneath. OR I was able to find the footed pj's up to 24 months at places like Khols and JC Penny's. So funny your talking about this today b/c i was googling about when to start a pillow and blanket for my 22 month old. I gave him a small pillow but no blanket yet. Don't worry to much though, they stay warmer then we do when they sleep. i'm sure she's fine. also we kept socks on my son ALL of the time and he ended up getting little cracked toes in the creases underneath and the dr. said we needed to air them out a little more. sorry this is so long :)
My 11 month old sleeps in a onesie and a sleep sack. It's perfect because she doesn't get too hot (overheating is a risk factor for SIDS, as I'm sure you know) but the sleep sack keeps her warm and she can't pull it over her head. On cold nights, I put socks on her feet and she can't pull them off because they're safe in the sleep sack :o) She kicks her legs out of her footed pj's too!
Hi, Kelly! I've never commented, but have been reading since Harper was born.
My little girl is 16 months old and is still sleeping in footed pj's. I've found that the ones that zip from bottom to top stay on her the best. I've found them at Kohl's and Babies R Us.
I didn't give her a blanket until after her first birthday. Now she's attached and won't sleep without it!
Children's Place always has footed pajamas. Carter's also sells two piece footed pajamas that snap around the middle up to size 24 mos. I find them at Kohl's.
I don't know if y'all have costco, but they have some really great footed pjs right now that go up to 4T.
My son is turning 3 in October and he STILL wears footed PJ's. We've always been on a tight budget and you can find sizes up to 4T at KMart and Target for pretty cheap. We put our son Tate to bed with a light, small blanket at about 1 year and by 2 he was in his "big boy" full sized bed with a comforter and a fleece blanket.
Harper is sooo cute. You make me want a girl so bad so I can put those cute bows on her.
I found the same problem with the foot pajamas at WM. Luckily we have a Children's Place in our area. If you have one in yours definitely go there to get them. My son is 2 1/2 and still wears them. I think they have them all the way up to 4T there.
I am not sure what the correct protocol on the blanket issue is. I can't remember. But I didn't let our son start sleeping with one until he was about 1 1/2.
Good luck!
I was in the same predicament as you were looking for footed pajamas. On my daughter's first birthday someone gave her a Halo sleepsack. Living in Louisiana, I never considered one - especially during the summer. We tried it and let me tell you....she sleeps longer and we've rarely had a wet diaper leak (which was becoming a problem.) We keep the air conditioner pretty cool at night, so I'm happy I don't have to worry about re-covering my munchkin. Blessings to you and so happy to see other mom's who celebrate their babies so enthusiastically. :)
I always struggled to find socks my little's couldn't kick off, but found that the socks from Baby Gap are un-kickable! If you start putting Harper in 2 piece jammies give them a try.
I have a "sleep sack" that is a blanket that you sip up on yhour baby. i love mine and got it from Target. hope this helps.
This is one of the best Harper outfits I have seen yet! :)
You can get footie pajamas up to 3T at The Children's Place. I got a whole bunch of 12 month ones at a consignment sale and they are sweet. I worry about those cold tootsies too. Libbie still can't get the socks with the ribbing up top (bubble socks?) off because they cling pretty tightly, and she is 10 months.
BROWN is SO cute on Harper!!! That outfit is adorable... too bad about the spit up.
I seriously think all moms go through the "dilemmas" you bring up. It's part of what makes us all be able to bond as mommas. I don't see how they don't have footed pajamas... I wore them up until I got married!! They were my favorites in High School. Ha!
I'm sure someone's already said it, because I'm way behind, but the Halo sleep sacks are awesome. Donut sleeps in a t-shirt and fuzzy sleep sack and she's almost 11 months old. I like the Halo ones the best because they zip from the top down so there's no annoying zipper pull up in their face! Oh and I get them at Babies R Us
I put my kids in a lighter pair of pjs underneath a blanket sleeper (during the winter). During the summer I always use the footed, lighter pjs until a little over a year. Gymboree, Children's Place and Carter's will have bigger sized footed pj's that are light enough for summertime.
I've always given my kids blankets because I think they're cold. But they actually never stayed covered, hence the two pairs of pjs.
You could also try a sleep sack...
I had the same problem with pjs for my daughter. She only likes the light cotton ones and I know she'd rip the socks off if I did that. I have a cousin in Canada that buys me a brand called Joe Style. They are only in Canada of course, but they are the best! Besides those, I find hers at Kohls. (she's 19 months) As for the blanket, we started when she was about 10 months old. Just lay a light one on her and if she doesn't want it, she'll crawl out. Good luck!
Wow! I guess I didn't realize how hot natured my daughter was until I read all the other comments. She is 6 months old and sleeps in a onesie (we turn on her ceiling fan AND a small fan in her room). She has a lightweight blanket she sleeps with, but it usually gets kicked off. I have never really worried about it b/c I have always heard you sleep better a little cooler, than to warm. We live in Georgia, so it is pretty hot anyway, but I guess she takes after me. I would choose being cold anyday, rather than being hot!
Love the brownies and Harper's adorable outfit!
Children's Place PJ's are the best!! They are like 3 for $24. The sizes go up to at least 2 years I think. I love them, they wash really well and are super cute. Hope that helps.
Love that big brown bow. :)
Hi Kelly!
Here's my advice....sleepsack! I first learned about these when I was a nanny and quickly became a big believer in them! I put one on Ava every night and even when she naps in her crib during the day. I think it helps her associate sleeping with wearing it :) I put her in a onesie and nothing else but the sleepsack. They have sleeveless ones you can buy and also ones with sleeves. Right now because it's summer, I put her in a short sleeve onesie with a sleeveless sleepsack. She is toasty warm in that and we have no issues with socks or footies. She can't get it off her and I don't worry about her getting cold. As fall comes, I will either put her in a long-sleeved onesie with the sleeveless sleep sack or a short-sleeved onesie with a long-sleeved sleep sack.
Obviously you can take this advice with a grain of salt, but I will say Ava is a great sleeper! I do think their sleep gets interrupted when they get cold or tangled up in their jammies :) Good luck!! Sounds like you have lots of advice to sift through!
The "footy" pj's from Children's place are THE BEST, because they have a snap at the top of the zipper to make it a little more challenging for them to undress themselves!! Also, they come in sizes all the way up to 3T (or maybe even 4T... can't remember...)
Hmmm.... just went back and read a few comments and now realize that I am the 289th person to tell you about Children's Place! ha ha! Oh, well, at least great Mommy minds think alike!!!
Kelly, we totally and completely love sleep sacks in our house. In the summer I put Meredith in a onsie and then the sleep sack over. In the winter I put her in a long-sleeve onsie or footed jammies and then the sleep sack over. Its a blanket that zips and you don't have to worry about it getting over her head. Also, Children's Place (Iknow Fay, AR has them:) has footed jammies year round and they are GREAT.
Children's Place sells footies in bigger sizes. And if you think she'll have socks off fast, a blanket comes off even quicker. You could go the sleep sack route, but those make it difficult for them to move around and frustrated my little guy to no end.
Go to Children's Place!! They have footed pj's until like 2T or 3T. My son just stopped wearing them, and only b/c he is potty trained and has to be able to easily get his pants down. They will have sales where it's like 3 pj's for $15 or something like that!!
from a medical point of view...the risk of SIDS decreases around 1 year of age (the highest being from about 2-4 months) so you should be fine using a blanket. especially now that she is moving around more. and if she sleeps with a pacifier, this has been proven to also decrease the risk.
when dressing her, just remember to dress her in the same amount of clothes you would wear yourself. i'm wondering if she's getting to warm at night since her feet are covered. i don't know if you have a costco (or sam's) near you, but they tend to have a wider range of sizes in kids clothes and always have a ton of pajamas.
be blessed!
Kelly, to answer your questions, I agree w/ everyone else who mentioned a Sleep Sack for #1. Babies 'R Us has them, and sometimes TJ Maxx does too. For #2, I'm a cautious momma like you and from what I've read, you may want to wait a bit longer to use a blanket, especially if she's an active sleeper. I have 2 friends whose toddlers got blankets wrapped around their heads (nothing happened, but it freaked the parents out). If Harper gets tangled up in a blanket, that might wake her up in the middle of the night...and we don't want that! :-) Don't worry too much, just try different things and see what works. She'll let you know if she doesn't like something! Harper looks so happy in her pictures; I can tell she thinks you're doing a great job as a mom!
See if you can get yourself some 'sleeping bags' for Harper. They have arms like the normal onsies but the bottom part is like a sleeping bag. I have used them here in Australia for all three of my children. They are great. You can also get some that have a hole for the seat belt to go through so if you need to put them in the car you don't have to take their sleeping bag off and they stay nice and warm.... Here is an idea for you. http://www.daintybaby.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AASLPBG
You can get long sleeved ones also. You just put their jammies on underneath and this becomes their blanket. Hope that makes sense and is of some help. Also, Harper looked totally adorable in the little brown outfit. I love brown for my little girl also.
You should put her in one the sleep saks. They are sleevless and zip up around there pjs. There is no kicking the off. They are the safest thing for them to sleep in because they can't pull them over there head. You can get them at babiesrus or maybe target. They make them for newborns and for sure up to a year and come in thin or thick fabrics. They are great!
We personallhy like the sleep sacks and footies (Target), but since Harper has been kicking her feet out sometimes at night, I would suggest trying a two piece pajama outfit and see what happens. I am just wondering if she is a kid that will like sleeping barefoot. People just prefer different things and she may just be getting warm with her feet covered in the sleepers. Sleepling without a blanket must be a newer thing. My husband is a Pediatrician and we always put a small, soft blanket on our kids, from early on, after they fell asleep. We also let them sleep on their stomachs though, since one insisted on being tummy sleeper.
Sleep Sacks are great... I used them until my kids were too big.
BUT...
You can buy CArter's footed PJ's at Babies R Us and they go all the way up to 2T sizes!
I have always gotten the larger sized footed pjs at either Costco or Sams Club... They are Carters brand blanket sleepers and are like $7.99 each and go from size 6 months to 4t. My nephew is 5 now and I am sad that this year he wont fit into them.
everyone is going to have differant opinions but i always say do what you think is best. Rhylan has had a blanket and a pillow with him since he was born and nothing has ever happened.
now the pajamas she will be fine without socks if you get her some warm ones :D we get a lot of them at kohls and walmart too. Really her feet should be fine :D
Hi Kelly, I am an "older Mon" and I agree with your commenter Melanie Keffer, we always wrapped our babies in blankets. Didn't know we weren't suppose to. And we felt them to see if they were hot or cold. They usually are a little cooler than us because they don't have much body mass to keep them warm. But you have your "hot" babies and your "cool" ones. So you have to let Harper tell you what is comfortable to her. Fussy? Maybe she's too hot. You will figure it out. And we always had hand made blankets, crochet or knitted, that were lacy,so they had holes in the pattern. This will let in air if the blanket gets around the baby's face. The holes in the lacy pattern also provide a thermal effect to keep you warm. Oh, and the brownie dessert with the strawberries..yumm-o!Almost as yummy as Miss Harper in her new brown outfit.
Keeping you in my heart in Ga.
Donna
Children's Place, Children's Place, Children's Place! Love 'em and they make them up to 3T. They also have specials like buy 3 for $25. My daughter wears them all the time. So soft and cute!
I work at Carter's, but I'm up in Minnesota...I do know that we have footed pajamas all the way up to
5T, they're located in the back of the store for me..if you have an actual Carter's near you go check em out! Right now all sleepwear should be 50% off, haha.
I started letting my daughter sleep with her blanket at a year. During the summer she just sleeps in her dipe and when it gets cooler I put pjs on her.
my twins are just about 10 months old and wear the footed pjs. I buy them at carters, walmart, and target. My son is already in 12 months. Once they are out of size 9 months most of them have the grips on the foot for walking. Word of advice try not to buy white or really like colors ones once Harper is crawling.
Kelly,
LOVE the new outfit! Brown looks great on Harper.
As far as pajamas for us....Both of my little ones started out in footed ones but by the time they reached about Harper's age they absolutely wanted nothing to do with them. They would pull at their feet trying to get them off and cry. They are both very hot natured. I went to two piece with socks and put the socks on first to try to keep them better. And actually, my daughter didn't want to wear ANY pj's by the time she was 3 and just wanted to sleep in undies. Talk about a battle:)
Blankets--I used them from day one. Swaddled, then gave them a crocheted blanket someone had made them. They loved to snuggle it. When my son was born in 1995, no one ever talked about using a blanket or not so when my daughter was born in 2003, I was like what?...don't cover them up?
As always, go with your mommy instincts. You are a fabulous mom:)
Have you tried sleep sacks?
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9919839
As far as footy pjs, Costco?
The childrens place has footed pjs up to 24 mo at least..I forget now how large they go.
Mine never liked footed pajamas. (Maybe because of those big feet...) I love Hanna Anderson pjs. They are sooo soft and 2 piece but really snug at the ankles. I used a little "sheet/blanket" that mom had given me for all of them, pretty early on. It is really light and I would just tuck it around their feet/legs. She's getting so big!
I have the same problem!! I think you have some great answers!
Stacy

have you tried a sleep sack?
Children's Place has the BEST footed PJs EVER! You can buy them in the stores 3 for $25.00. They have a website, too. I live outside of Nashville and we have several of those stores around this area. You have enough friends here so if you need some, let us know and I'm sure someone will get them right to you! Plus, they have zippers.....not snaps!
If you go to a Carter's store or even WalMart, look for the bigger sizes of footies (12m and up) in the section with the toddler clothes. I recently discovered that! Harper is gorgeous!
Carter's makes footed PJ's up to 4T. One place I find them is Costco. Usually for $6-7 a pair. If you don't have an actual Carter's store near you sometimes you can buy them online or there is also a place called Boscov's. It's a department store but they sell tons of Carter's stuff online. Good luck!
Children's place. I love their footed pjs. And they have zippers instead of snaps so they can't take them off and easier for changing diapers in the middle of the night.
Hey Kelly,
I have a 22 month old little boy he still sleeps with no blanket and still sleeps in footed P.J.'s I get mine at the Children's Place I love, love, love their P.J.'s and they zip instead of snap so they are much easier for night time changes. My little one has been in them since he was born and they go all the way up to 3T so go get baby Harper some. You will love them. Have a great weekend.
Target has blanket sleepers up to a 5t! My daughter is 7 and still loves blanket sleepers.
My kids are 7-14, so I bet I am the oldest:)
children's place has AWESOME footed pj's, usually up to like size 3 or mayb 4T! and they zip so i doubt she could get them off, yet :) they are usually 3 for $25. my oldest son is 2 and we have blankets in his bed but really he doesn't stay covered up. so i def suggest the footed pj's in order for her to stay warm. my baby boy is almost 7 months,, and i love the footed pj's still. he has a few pair of the 2 piece pj's but they are harder to get off/on and also, they make him look so big :)
harper is a doll!
I just found Carters 12-24 month footed fleece pajamas at Wal-Mart (some wal-mart's have them and others don't). Also, CostCo has the fleece footed pajamas up to 18 months. They are really hard to find so I was way excited!
BTW- Harper is a DOLL!
Kelly, can you please post a recipe for those brownies? They look incredible!
Children's Place!!!
children's place has footed pj's in bigger sizes. the plus is that they also have skid proof soles on them for when they start pulling up. mine wear them until they're potty trained. love them!
I love the footed pj's. Kohl's has always had a great selection...even up to 4T! You might give them a try. They also have the one's that zip up so you won't have to worry about Harper kicking the legs off. We also have a Carter's store in our area that has a great selection.
Harper's Brown Outfit is so adorable! I just love it and those brownies look so good...what a great way to dress them up a bit!
about the jammies- The Children's Place carries my favorite footed pj's of all time! They have them year round and call them "stretchies" and are almost always on "special" for 3 for $20. I have six pair in every size up to 24 months :) They make them all the way to like 4T I think, my son just got to where he didn't want to wear them anymore! They are wonderful. Carter's 2 piece are what my daughter is currently sleeping in and they are precious, too! They are pants and a short sleeved shirt which is good for our weather :) My girl doesn't like having her feet covered.
Maybe Harper doesn't love having her feet covered either and that's why she's kicking out! Or she might be hot :)
I let my kids sleep with a blanket at 1 year.
I am amazed though that my daughter can sleep often even in a onesie and not get cold!
I love her little brown outfit!!
I have done footed pj's for both of my kids and switched over to Old Navy two piece somewhere between 6 months and a year. I put socks on our kids feet. My 2 year old sone keeps them on, 1 year old daughter pulls them off but doesn't seem to be cold. I put blankets on my kids at a year. I err on the cautious side as well.
I have four children. They all used a blanket and slept on their tummies pretty much as soon as we got home from the hospital. And they're all perfectly healthy but peace of mind for mom is a must, so do what you think is right.
Hi Kelly! I have followed your blog for a while now. This is my first time to comment, but I just wanted to let you know what I do. I have 2 little boys (age 3 1/2 yrs. and almost 9 months). I go to children's consignment sales (I also work them so I can get more of the things I am looking for). :) Right now is the perfect time to be looing as the fall sales are getting ready to open. I am sure you have several in your area. About the blanket, my little boy has used one since he was about 4 months. He also has a lovey that he sleeps with every night. He will not go to sleep without it. I know I am pretty far down the list of responses, but I thought I would throw it out for you anyways. Hope this helps some!

Hey Kelly,
I didn't read all the comments (WAY TOO MANY, ha!) so this may have already been suggested but there is something called a "sleep sack" made by Halo. I found mine on Babies 'R Us' website. It's like a swaddler but only for night time. And it keeps your precious one all wrapped up and warm.
The hospital I delivered my son at actually suggested buying a Halo, saying it was a good way to keep blankets from covering babies' faces. :)
Good luck! Love reading your blog!!
Costco has greated footed jammies in all sizes. Don't know if you have a Costco? I've heard Children's place also has great cotton footed jammies. Good luck!
We use Halo sleep sacks that come in all sizes (from babies r us) fleece or cotton. Solves the problem of cold feet and blanket!
My son was the same way. This is probably going to sound like I'm a horrible mom but when my son was eight months old it was january and he would kick his footie pjs off and wouldn't keep socks on so I used a blanket. I know that's young but I only put it covering his waist down and for the first couple of weeks I would go check on him and he would be in the same spot with the blanket the same way. Now he is 15 months old and he will not keep anything on a blanket, footies, socks, and he's all over the place in his crib. His feet have to be free and he will be fine as long as the blanket is not covering them, it can cover his tushie and his legs but not his feet. I would try maybe the zipper ones like everyone else is saying. I didn't like those on my son because they seemed uncomfortable for him but everyone is different. Maybe try putting a blanket on her during a nap to see how she reacts with it and if she knows to push it away if it gets near her face because that's what mine did since he doesn't like anything to touch him. Good Luck...I know the footies are the cutest but sometimes the little cuties in them rebel against them ha!!!:):)
i'm not a mommy (yet!) so i can't offer advice on the p.j.'s, but that is the CUTEST brown outfit ever!!!! where are you getting her clothes these days?!
Childrens place has great footed PJ's. They won't keep a blanket on them until like 2 or 2.5. They just kick it off. So it's not really a SIDS things, it's more like when will they actually use them.
You just need to wait until she's scooting or crawling really well. And then only use a lightweight blanket. Of course, she won't stay under it all night. When I don't have mine in footed pjs, I have felt their feet before in the middle of the night, and they are as warm as the rest of them. God's design, you know?
This time of year is hard to find footed pjs but I think some stores have been stocking up already. Go to your local Carters store they should have some by now cause I started buying winter clothes for Jayson already... about socks it happens they kick them off his just not wanting things in his feet and about covering them well leave it close by she will soon be getting it herself shes around that age and you will be surprised to see her covered the next morning. I wish to have a girl one day. I just love the way you pamper Harper she looks beautiful everyday!! I love her smile everything shes a perfect gerber looking baby!!:)
Same issue here with the PJ's. I started having the issue around 12m, I ended up switching to the Gerber Fleecy ones, not as thrilled with them, but they do the trick, and Carter's makes the fleecy ones too...we have a lot of those too.
We have a nice little consignment shop nearby-- and since PJ's are such thin pieces of fabric and I hate to pay $19.99 per pj set and then get holes in the toes-- so I usually hop on over there to see what they have.
At this point, 2 piece pj's are MUCH easier to find! Old Navy seems to have them reasonably priced (a lot of times on sale!).
I SOOO love Carter's pj's, but you're right, they are so hard to find in bigger sizes!
My son's blanket is his security, so he has been sleeping with it ever since he could easily move his body if he felt he needed more air (around the time he could crawl really well). We started with thin receiving blankets to make ourselves feel more at ease.
Good luck!!!
We use a sleepsack -- her feet stay warm, and there's no safety risk like there is with a blanket. My daughter just turned one and won't have a blanket until she's in a big girl bed:)
I did not read the other comments, so I am sure someone has already mentioned these but I love the footed pajamas at Children's Place. I have two boys and both of mine have worn them until I couldn't get them in their size anymore. They zip up which makes getting them on easier and quicker than the snap kind. Hope that helps!
The Children's Place has footie pjs all the way up to 4T in varying weights, so they are good in summer and winter.
You can definitely cover her with a blanket. I just stuff it down on one end so it doesn't come out and always use a light, breathable one, just in case.
THis one of my first times commenting. They do sell footed pajamas for 12 months and up, but I mostly see them in the 2 piece sets where the tops snap to the bottoms. Also to keep my little ones warm without having to use the blankets we use sleep sacks. Hope that helps.
I love reading your blog.
If your girl is "long" then Children's Place zip-up sleepers will last the longest.
Try the Children's Place PJs. They have the footie pjs and they zip instead of snap. Makes those late night diaper changes much easier! GAP also carries them.
Kelly,
Head up to Branson to the Tanger outlet...Children's Place and Carter's have great PJ's with feet!
My 17 month old son has used a blanket at night for a long time. As soon as he could pull it off of himself, I was fine with it, but to be a little cautious, I didn't put it over him until after he was asleep. Now, it's no big deal he plays his blankets!
Harper is adorable in the brown outfit!
Michelle
The lightweight sleepsack is the way to go! That way you don't have to worry about them kicking their blanket off or getting it on their face. Our son wore his until he was two and a half.
The Children's Place has zip-up footed jammies up to at least 24month. They have light cotton and the heavier fleece. They are a little pricier at $25 for 3.
Halo sleep sacs rule:)
I have not read all the comments and I don't know how you plan to read so many, but in case if I repeated something someone else said, I'm sorry! :)
Our son slept in a Halo sleepsack from birth until this past spring (so until he was almost 2 1/2). It worked well for us. Not having to worry about him suffocating under a blanket or waking up cold because he couldn't figure out how to pull it up was wonderful. It zips up like a little sleeping bag and has holes for the arms and the head. He went to bed with pj's on, sometimes socks depending on the weather, and then the sleepsack was his blanket. In the fall, winter, early spring we had fleece. He changed his sizes in tune with the seasons so we had fleece for x-small and small, cotton for the medium, and fleece again for the large and x-large. This summer he was too big for the sleepsack and it was perfect after a camping trip to transition him to a blanket. He is old enough to move his blanket on and off if needed. The best part, he never learned to crawl out of his crib because he couldn't get his legs apart, yet he was able to walk in the sleepsack like he was walking in a little sleeping bag (so cute).
Anyway, way too long of a post but I would give a huge shout out to the sleepsack as our choice for nighttime and naptimes.
children's place carries them!! that's all i used for all three of my kiddos!!
I find footie pjs that I love at Old Navy and Gap. They also have really adorable two piece pjs at Gap. I feel like her feet are still warm in the two piece because the rest of her is still covered.
Hey Kelly - I rarely comment on here, but I read your blog all the time. But I just had to share my absolute FAVORITE jammies for little ones (not sure if this has been covered, I didn't read any of the other comments), but Children's Place has super soft footy jammies that zip all the way up - those would be perfect for your little kicking escape artist! But buy them one size bigger because they shrink like crazy on the first wash.
I just went to short and shirt sets and put socks on her. I swear by Halo sleepsacks. They are awesome and until recently Ava didn't know to unzip it and take it off. Now every morning she's got the sleepsack off and the socks are off and on the floor behind the crib. Who knows why ?? Technically they say around a year you can use a blanket. Your child needs to be strong enough to roll and get un wrapped from the blanket or it's a suffocation hazard. The sleepsacks are cool and they are sleeveless so they aren't a risk. Fabulous invention and I don't have to worry about if she's covered of not. Good luck!!
Love Ms. Harper Brown, brown outfit...very cute! :)
I live in Dallas and the WalMart's here have footed pj's up to size 5T, so does Target, Carters, Gymboree, etc. Maybe there will be more in the stores by you soon-as it gets closer to fall time.
But-have you thought that maybe Harper's feet aren't cold? If she is kicking around enough to get those snaps undone and her legs out, and she's doing this consistently, it's probably not an accident. Maybe she's hot? Just a thought. :) Also, I've always heard that the problem with blankets is that they can suffocate if it falls over their face and they can't move it. If Harper can get her feet out, she can probably move the blanket off her face. I asked my sister, who is a pediatrician before I answered this just to be sure! :)
I have a little "sleep sack" from Hanna Anderson that I put my 12 month old son in every night. I put him in PJs under it. Long sleeves footed in the winter and now shorts and a t-shirt for the summer. It's basically a blanket weight, but since it zips up the front and has arm holes, he can't cover his face with it. I feel like it's the safest option.
Where did you come up with Brown as her middle name? Is that your maiden name?
Children's Place has THE BEST sleepers. They're called "stretchies" and they are all my 3rd child Sophie wears for bed. They go way up in sizes, they are soft cotton, and they ZIP instead of snapping. Much easier, and harder for the babies to wiggle out of. And they're so cute. I wish I had discovered them sooner- I would've had all 3 of mine sleep in them 'til it was time to potty train!
Gap is my favorite. They carry them in larger sizes. Watch for their sales. You can get them for really good deals! I LOVE feetie jammies!
Brown is a great color for Harper...just like her mommy!
Children's Place has the best footed PJ's and they go up to large sizes. There is a great outlet in Dallas across from Northpark Mall. I think I remember you having a relative in Dallas. They are about 1/2 price at the outlet. They zip instead of snap which is a requirement for me.
This is probably horrible, but I have always covered both of my girls from birth...swaddled up until 3-4 months then a blanket tucked under their arm pits. I go in and check on them often. My 5 month old can't go to sleep unless she is chewing on a blanket...
I think it's at your own discretion. Try a light blanket at nap time and see how she does with it...You can always try getting one of those video monitors if you're worried...:-)
Well I live in Germany and know what ppl over here do and I know my mom did the same with me as a baby! We have "sleeping bags" for kids. For the winter they have long arms and in the summer they dont. You dont need a blanket or anything since the baby is inside a "bag" The feet never get cold this way no matter if they have socks on or not. It also prevents them from taking off their clothes!
Just so you know what they look: http:http://www.babyinabag.com/
Hope that helps!
When we got older my mom cut two holes in the bottom that we could stick out feet through in order to climb out the bed and walk to them!
I get mine at The Children's Place. They have them all the way up to size 4 or 5T. That's all I would put my girls in and Baylee wore them until she was 3. After that, it was normal princess jamies.
Hugs - Tiff
we find footed PJs for my nieces who are 4 and 6!! (and at WAL MART!) if she kicks so hard that her legs come out, try getting the PJs with the zipper instead of the buttons :) *megan*
I am sure that by now, you have received more than enough answers about footed sleepers, but my boys have always worn the footed sleepers from The Children's Place. They go all the way up to size 3T, and they ZIP, so they can't kick out of them. They are especially great once they start crawling and walking b/c they stay put!
Yum, What a great way to make brownies!
I have always kept my two little ones in footed pjs...we live in TX and my husband likes to keep the house cooler at night.
I have found the BEST footed pjs at Childrens Place for sure!! Harper is super cute...she will be in our prayers surgery day.
I saw a bunch of footed pj's in sizes all the way up to the little girls at Target recently.
Check out Hanna Andersson's slipper socks. My kids love them, and last winter my then 18 month old could not take them off.
I have to echo the praise of the sleep sack! I put my little one in a very light one for warmer temperatures, and in a thicker one for cold weather. That way I didn't worry about a blanket. It also kept her from moving all over the crib like crazy. Now she's 1 and has slept with a blanket just fine for a couple of months. I don't worry about it because at this age, she will move anything that is in her way.
My first son loved footed pajamas and wore them for a long time. The first time I put them on my second son, he had a fit. He hated them! He still hates to be confined in a sleeping bag, socks, etc... Weird, huh? Maybe Harper doesn't like the footed pjs.
Carter's makes footie pj's that are 2 piece but can be snapped at the waist. I think you can get them at Penny's and the carter's outlet store. Old Navy makes footie pj's in big sizes too. Happy Shopping!!
I didn't read through all the comments so I apologize if someone else said this - but... I use sleep sacks with my girls. I love the Grobags (best price is on Amazon or https://www.shopatron.com/index/514.1.32262.32263.0.0.0). I have used the Halo bags too but the Grobags are bigger and better in my opinion. Here's my review too with pics. http://www.askmissmommy.com/search/label/Grobag%20baby%20sleeping%20baby
the children's place has the best footed zipper pjs and they go up pretty big in size!
I believe that Children's Place sells the footed pj's that ZIP instead of the snaps. That way she won't be able to kick them open. Carters also sells their warmer blanket sleepers and those zip as well. I've bought the blanket sleepers up to size 5T from Carters. If you don't have a Carter's store near you, Kohl's, JCPenney and Babies R Us usually have a great selection of Carter's brand. If you have a Costco near you they usually also sell them starting early fall.
My oldest didn't like blankets so I just used the blanket sleepers. My youngest had to have a blanket over his legs. I started letting him have one in his bed after he was able to go from laying down to sitting up on his own...so maybe around 7 or 7.5 months. I didn't use a big heavy blanket though, just a soft light one.
Footie pajamas with zippers - The Children's Place!! They go up to 24 months.
