So - a bunch of random stuff today before the weekend hits!!!
Harper and I met with a pediatric surgeon today about removing her little extra toe. She also has little skin tags on her hands that would have been extra fingers. In about three weeks - she will have surgery to have all three removed. I am nervous because she will have to be put under but I know she will be fine. And it's just a little toe. I think of all the other mothers who have babies who have to have major heart surgery or undergo chemotherapy. So I was hoping that on Sept 17th - the day of her surgery - we could make that a special day of prayer for all children undergoing any kind of medical procedures. I just want to let that day remind me to pray for all the parents who are losing sleep over their children's health. Let's pray for peace, comfort and healing. Will you do that with me???
Waiting in the doctor's office can get long and boring when you have a squirmy baby. I took our picture with my phone to send to Scott. ha!

- Shaun Groves wrote a post today talking about a couple of us going on the compassion trip in November. I was pretty tickled that one of the reasons he was intrigued with my blog was because of all of you!! So I thought I would share. I'm so glad that my blog is not like one of those boring College classes where the professor lectures and the students take notes. I'm glad it's more of a "discussion" class with lots of "participation"! That's what makes it so fun! So keep participating!!!! i love hearing from all of you!!!
- If you live in NWA and haven't heard - I thought I would let you know (or remind you) that the HUGE consignment event, Rhea Lana, is coming up Sept 2-5. I think there is still time to enter your own items and then you will HAVE to go back and shop. I've heard you can find awesome stuff. I have missed it the last two times but if you have a baby or are expecting a baby or know anyone with a baby - GREAT way to get a lot of stuff for great prices!!!! And it's a great way to make extra money if you have some good children's clothes or toys or equipment that you would like to sell! Check out the website for more information!

Rhea Lana comes to North Little Rock too, I always find some great stuff!
Harper's Bow is just precious, I don't think my little guy would appreciate one though. :)
I will definitely say a prayer for Harper and all children on 9/17.
I know that Harper will be just fine, but I understand why you'd be nervous. I am loving her dress today!
Kelly what an amazing write up about you and your blog. You know we love you too pieces and Harper is looking so cute in her bow today. Looking forward to catching up next week. Now we must decide what to do. Have a great weekend!
I will be praying that Harper's surgery goes smoothly!
I will be praying for Harper next month when she goes into surgery and all of the other children!
Rhea Lana was just here in WLR a couple of weeks ago...I found some great pieces for little miss A, arriving in November! :)
I'll most definitely join you in praying on the 17th!
Standing in prayer with you!
Of course I'll pray on that day...and of course I'll be at Rhea Lana's. It used to be within walking distance of my house but now it's bigger I guess!!
Harper it TOO cute!! This post is just another example of how unselfish you are. I know you are worried beyound belief about her having surgery, but you put emphasis on not only Harper but the other children who go through surgeries. Thank you for being so inspiring!
Kelly,
I will be sure to pray for Harper on the 17th. Her surgery could not have fallen on a more perfect day. The 17th is my birthday and I will be sure to life her up!
Bless you Kelly
September 17th is my birthday! I will def. pray for Harper!
I think that its a great idea to make that our prayer date! And as always, you two ladies look lovely! :)
Praying for sweet babies is my pleasure! Harper is a doll in her BIG hairbow and smocked dress.
Kelly, I will be praying for Harper and her mama and daddy and grandparents. I know it makes you nervous,...but our God is in control sweetie.
I have several little ones with health issues that I pray for during devotion times with my hubby. Yes, they all need our prayers.
I was so tickled to get your Birthday Greeting on Aug. 19th,..and also your mama's. Thank you again!
I did a post today about what a nice day I had.
Linda @ Truthful Tidbits
Since I've been reading your blog, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say you are completely comfortable knowing God is in control. Everything will go according to his plan... perfect in every way. :)
Of couse it's OK to be nervous no matter how small the surgery is! My little boy (who just turned 2) was born with a cleft lip and palate and has had three surgeries so far. I always felt bad for making such a big deal out of them b/c I, like you, thought about all the kids undergoing surgery for life-threatening illnesses, but it's still OUR baby so I guess we worry no matter what! I'll be praying :o) Have a great weekend!!
Kelly I will definitely be standing with you in commitment to prayer that day!
And I'm just still so thrilled for you that you are able to get the experience of taking this trip to El Salvador. Your life is never going to be the same!
I will be in prayer for Harper and all of our other little ones that day. You will be fine because you know where to turn. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Harper is so cute, I can't get over all of her beautiful bows. I am going to have to start shopping for bows for my little girl here soon! I will pray for her on the 17th, God will be with her and the day will go very smooth for all of you! Have a great weekend!
Karen
I just wanted to tell you what my friend did with her daughter, who was also born with an extra toe on both her feet. Shortly before her daughter's surgery to remove the extra toes, she had molds made of her feet. They are so sweet, and even shoe all the wrinkles and folds in her little toes. A nice little keepsake to show how her feel looked when she was born. Just for you info!
Oh sweet Harper! I'll definitely keep her in my prayers along with all of the other babies! you are so brave! I come near tears every time I think about having to take my dog to get spayed next month! I'm so going to be a helicopter mom!
Oh Kelly..I LOVE Harpers big bow's! She is just the sweetest thing :) I will pray that her surgery goes good, i'm sure it will!
Have a great weekend!!!
Jenna
I won!! I won!! I won!! I'm soooo excited! I can't believe I saw my blog's url on your post! I won!
Ok...now that I got that out of my system, LOL
Yes, I will join you and all the others in praying on September 17th. That will help take my mind off of the fact that I will be turning 36 (Yep. It's my birthday!).
Harper is such a sweeetie. I can't wait to see what cute little outfit you have on her each day.
Funny you posted about Harper's skin tags, Colson has about 8 under his chin and are becoming more noticeable. You can see them just by looking straight on at his face. We are contemplating on having them removed, but didn't know what all that would entail. How are they going to remove Harper's and what will her recovery time be for just her hands?
Everything will go just fine to remove that little piggy, but we will for sure be saying a little prayer that day, for everyone!
I just looked and their is a Rhea Lana coming to our area in a few months. I have been to the Just Between Friends sales before, but I just might have to check this one out!
You definitely MUST shop at Rhea Lana's! They started one in Joplin in March and I shopped a bit, it was much bigger in August and I shopped and sold. It was a great way to get rid of nice outgrown clothing and get the next size. I also found lots of great books and puzzles that I will use at home and at work.
My baby is about 3 weeks older than Harper and is also having surgery in Sept...I am so on board for a national pray for the babies day!!
He's right, Kelly, we read your blog because we LIKE you.
I just read about you on Shaun Groves' blog! How exciting for you. :)
Melissa @ www.fordsbigbluehouse.blogspot.com
Praying for that sweet girl!
Will definitely be praying on the 17th. I thought of Little Miss Harper at Sam's Club in Fayetteville today; they had Carter's 1 piece lightweight fleece outfits for around $8...in brown with pink hearts! Too cute!
Both of my children had surgery at young ages. My daughter @ 10 weeks for a cleft lip repair. She had 4 surgeries in 3 years, 2 for her lip and 2 for ear issues. My son had a skin tag that had to be removed at 12 weeks. Maybe because our older child had MAJOR surgery at 10 weeks, the skin tag removal seemed like no big deal. There was nothing to his recovery, a little neosporin a few times a day for 2 weeks. Now you can not see any scars, he's almost 3.
Good luck to you! It's way tougher on Mommy than baby. I am sure Harper will do just fine.
Rhea Lana comes to Conway too! I am so excited we went last year and it was great! There's also a Duck Duck Goose sale coming up soon, and it's pretty similar to Rhea Lana, smaller but still good deals.
Kelly- I will be praying for Harper and all others on 9/17. I hope her surgery goes well and I will pray for her and you!
Hi Guys! I have been a long-time lurker with you and Harper. For some reason I didn't realize Harper has special hands and feet too! My son, Mikey {will be 6 in December} was born without his fingers-he does have a complete right thumb, but that is about it!
Like Harper is to you, Mikey is to me the most inspirational being/meaning in my life {along with my older son of course!}. I really will wish the best for Harper as she goes through hand/foot surgery. Mikey had bilateral {7 altogether} nubbin removal --accessory digit removal a cuople of years back & Nov 15 will forever be our "Happy Hand Day".
Big hugs all the way from Alberta Canada,
Diane & Mikey J
We will definitely be praying for Harper on the 17th. My little girl, who is six weeks older than Harper, has to be put under anesthesia on September 9th. My older daughter (2.5) just had the same surgery in January. We are looking at the possibility of both of our girls having to have a major operation in the near future. We are praying for God's divine intervention in their situations, so we can lift little Harper up as well.
I'm new to your blog, joined in on the Friday blog carnival today and working on getting caught up with all of your posts and just wanted to say hi and thanks for sharing your life with us fellow blogging moms.
Shayna
Hi Kelly! I've been reading your blog for a while now and I love it! My husband and I are from sw MO and welcomed our baby girl in April after a 3 year battle with infertility. I'm a stay at home mother and he is a preacher. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. Harper is my inspiration for Chloe Jo's bows!!!
I'll keep Harper in my thoughts while she undergoes surgery.
Thanks for blogging and inviting us into your life!!!
Love the idea of a prayer day just for children undergoing medical procedures! What a great idea...and how awesome of you to realize that even though Harper's surgery will be scary it can always be worse.
Will you update the link to Rhea Lana please? I don't think it is working, and I've never heard of it.
Please know I will be praying on the 17th for Harper and all of the children who need to be lifted up to Him.
Precious Harper and her paci, it's a beautiful thing:)
Blessings today and always,
Kaye
Matthew 21:22
What a great idea for a day of prayer!! There is nothing more worrisome than your kiddos and health issues!! Harper is precious as always!! :)
I just love Harper's smocked dress.
I will join you in prayer on the seventeenth.
Kelly she will be just fine!
Many prayers will be said for all children that day.
Your little girl is absolutely precious. Y'all will definitely be in my prayers as surgery approaches.
I will definitely be praying with you!!!!:) For sweet Harper and all others in need of big prayers.
I love the picture of the two of you.
No matter how minor the surgery, it's still scary. We'll be praying!! I think it's a great idea to pray for ALL the little ones that day!
Another one of our heart friends earned his angel wings today. Ethan was six months old and had HLHS, just like our Mr Owen. He fought so hard and his little body just couldn't keep up. His blog is http://crazyskids.blogspot.com
Keep their family in your prayers, I can't imagine the sorrow that I would feel if Owen was called home. I know it will happen, but I pray for just another day, another moment.
Harper's smile melts my heart!!
Andrea
Kelly,
I would be a little anxious too if my girls had to undergo a procedure but I am just so glad that we can go to the Lord with all of our worries and fears! I know I would be so lost without Him!
I will be sure to pray on Sept 17th. It will be an easy day to remember because that is my Hubby's birthday!
Kelly, I will mark it on the calendar to remember Harper in prayer. She looks so adorable in her little blue dress!
That's a great picture of you!! Yall look so cute together! :) Loved the Shaun Groves post. He had some wonderful words about you and I agree with them ALL!
Will be praying for Harper and her upcoming surgery!
Also, I was in gymboree today and they are having their friends and family sale - 30% off. IN TX it's tax free, not sure about Arkansas. They had the little footed sleepers that you like up to a 2T!! Just thought I would share!
Def will say a prayer for Harper. I know you are busy, but wondering if you could answer a quick question for me. My son (who is now 3) also was born with extra "digits" as they call it. It was like he had an extra pinky, but it wasn't really anything but extra skin, they tied it off and removed the day after he was born. The question is, has the doctor told you anything about this? Why it happens? Is it hereditary? I am adopted and have no medical history of my birth parents, so I wouldn't know if it ran in the family. Just wondering what to expect in the future. Thanks for any info girl!!
We will pray that day for all people having surgery.
I will most definitely pray for Harper and for all other babies who need medical attention! I'm right there with you :)
Prayers coming your way, sister!!
Will do
I will definitly be praying for you and sweet little Harper!!! You both look beautiful! I love her little smocked dress and bow :) precious.
Can I just say again how much I love your blog? You never fail to touch my heart, make me laugh, cry (for good reasons though!) or just bring a smile to my face with sweet Harper's pictures and stories. And from a Mommy pregnant for the second time and ALWAYS hungry....I literally DROOLED at the baby shower pictures!!! What talent and creativity you all have with food! I will be praying for Harper's surgery and recovery.
Kelly,
I will definitely remember to pray on 9/17.
My youngest son has had 4 heart caths, one heart surgery, and two other surgeries-all before the age of 3!
Take care~
Oh my gosh look at that bow! heehee! It is huge! She looks so adorable and can def. pull it off ;-) I am up in MA and rarely see bows that big, but seeing Harper in them def. brings a smile to me. Prayers sent for sure too...
Love her big white bow! What a doll!
Will be praying for Harper and all the babies who need surgery ,infact prayers for all children are including in my daily prayers,
ha I LOVE her bows!
My co-teacher's baby is having some testing for her heart defect next week. I'll be joining you in prayer for all children with medical needs. Have a great weekend. ~Natalie
I will be praying for Harper and all the children having procedures done that day. And, I am so excited that I won the CD! Thanks.
kelly, you are so pretty! i don't think you have ever posted a bad picture of yourself. what are your secrets??
Kelly, What a wonderful idea to have a prayer day for the kids. I hope when Harper is in surgery and you can take a deep breath, you will feel all of us lifting you up. Won't that be amazing!
What a great write up from Shaun. One of the best about you. Glad he "got it". All of us did right away. You are the friend everybody wants, or wants to be like. God Bless You!
Keeping you in my heart in Ga.

September 17th is my birthday! I will absolutely say a little prayer for Harper and all the other children on that day!
I know what you mean about surgery. My son had hernia surgery when he was 18 months. We cried when they took him back. He was done before we could even blink.. then at home I was all ready for a terrible recovery and pain..Heck No.. he just rolled around and giggled like a little ole' drunk man. I think when they are little and don't understand what "surgery" is they move on as just another day.. I mean look what they went through being born.. tramatic.. She will be fine and like you said.,, it's a little toe..she will be fine...
September 17 will be our 4th wedding anniversary...so it will be an easy day for me to remember to pray for Harper and all the other children having surgeries, procedures, or dealing with a life-threatening illness.
Thank you for always remembering others and praying for others...you are such a blessing Kelly.
Harper's bow is especially cute today...I love, love, love big bows! I will definately be praying for Harper when she has her surgery!
Have a great weekend!
So sweet, I love that outfit... we are bunny people at my house... at least me and my baby girl are. We decorated her nursery in bunnies... and she was named after my Nan who collected them (not real ones!)
Praying for so many babies...
She will be just fine! I will pray for her and fast healing so she is not in any pain!
Hugs- Tiffany
PS - And, if you could say a little prayer for Blair that would be great. I don't know if you've had a chance to visit my blog, but Blair (my 16 month old) had major surgery Thursday on her belly. In brief, she was born with her intestines on the outside of her and they were finally able to fix it. We will be in St. Louis with her for a few weeks before we can come home!
Hugs- Tiffany
I will be praying for you Scott and Harper and all of the other parents and children going through surgery or illness. Harper will do great!!!!
I just wanted to let you know that even though Harper's surgery isn't life-threatening, it is still a big deal to you! My son Benjamin has had three surgeries in his short 16 months, one of them being open-heart surgery, and sometimes people feel bad asking for prayers for ear infections and other "simple" things, but let me tell you that when it is YOUR baby and YOUR struggle, it is still a big deal to you and to God. You can take all your worries and cares to Him, and to us!
:)
jealous of your big consignment event...we just got approved for our adoption and that would be the perfect way to get some of the things we need without spending too much!
Harper is toooooo cute in her big bow and her paci in her mouth!
What a lovely idea!
I will be sure to pray on Sept 17th.
Love that picture of you and Harper!
Cxx
Do you think you might have had German measles while you were pregnant and didn't show symptoms? I had a friend that was born with an extra thumb because her mom had German measles druing her pregnancy. Just wondering if the doctors mentioned that as a possible cause. Anyway, praying she does fine with her surgery. Harper is perfectly adorable even if you did have extra digits to count. =)
I see Harper is lovin' her passy!! have you ever checked out www.mypacifier.com They have some with the nipple shaped like what I think Harper's are shaped like. You can have their name put on them, which I know you love having Harper's name on things. Just thought you might like to know.
Oh, PS, I'll be praying for y'all on the 17th!! People will say "Ah, it's no big deal", but it's always a big deal when it's your kid!!!! My prayers are with you!!!
No doubt that it would be nerve racking to have your baby go under for surgery! Covering you and your family in prayers. Thank you for your ministry through this blog; God is using you in a mighty way! Blessings to you!
Hey,,,,I read your blog everyday without fail. I just love you and could not agree more with the write-up about you and how you are so easy to relate to. Thank you for sharing yourself and your life with us. I know little Harper makes it easy to share because she is just too darn cute. I need a favor. My oldest son, Maxwell, is in a contest and needs your vote. Could you go to www.shanacawley.blogspot.com and scroll down to see his photograph. Maxwell is picture G and then you can vote for him at the top left-hand corner. The vote ends tomorrow night so we need to get the word out. Let me know if you can help me out. Thanks a bunch and keep up the great posts. I love the Show and Tell you do but have not participated.

I can honestly tell you, I know EXACTLY the feeling of sitting in the surgeon's office. Been there, about 15 times... (well maybe triple that if you count follow ups, and extra visits from complications). The night before the surgery was the worst for me. For Kyleigh, we had a tradition, of the "surgery" dress. We bought a new dress for each surgery. She went into the OR in the dress and if the our surgeon came out of the OR carrying the dress I knew everything was ok because that meant she was in recovery. My heart goes out to every single family that is faced with ANY surgery for their child and my prayers are with your family and every other one too :)
Amber
I will definitely be praying for Harper's surgery.
Lovin' the big bows! Too cute!
The picture in the doctor's office cracks me up! I thought I was the only one that did things like that. :) I would have never done it before I was a momma because it would have brought attention to me and I would have been too worried about what others were thinking, but all those cares have gone out the window. Gotta love pictures! Do you ever just look at people and just say, 'I'm a blogger'?
Praying for Harper's surgery.
My daughter was born with a birth mark on her face and we are still trying to figure out what we should do about it.
I just discovered your blog and want you to know that although you are a well pretty much a stranger, you have an amazing heart that is apparent through your posts, and especially today's. It's so refreshing and equally encouraging to come across a woman who speaks from the heart, a heart filled with the love of Christ, what an encouragement! I will def. pray for little Harper and all other children going through medical surgeries that day.
I have marked Harper's surgery date on my calender to be in prayer up to and on that day. I know what it feels like to have a child go through surgery both major and not so major.
I am also praying over you, Dana and the rest of the blogging team and your up coming trip with Compassion International. I have to admit that I am a tad bit jealous. I would so love the chance to make this trip and see the difference that Compassion is making. I do not sponsor a child. I have instead felt lead to become part of a Child Survival Program.
I can not wait to see and hear the things that God gives you to bring back to us.
Sallye
Love the idea of a day of prayer for the little ones with medical difficulties, and I will be joining you in praying! I am a pediatrics resident physician in North Carolina, and I'm actually working in the NICU here, taking care of 60 little ones who all need lots of prayer! I know, too, that Harper will do just beautifully with her surgery; I pray you will be comforted and free of worry for her!
Sept. 17th I'm there! I'll be praying for that...3 things for then:
1.) That's the day my sister in law's baby (Asher's first cousin) is due
2.) Asher has Hydrocele testis in his testicles and will possibly need surgery on them. I'm SOOOOO nervous about that!!!
3.) He will probably also have to have surgery on his belly button: it wasn't totally "fused" together when he was born and has caused him to possibly be at risk for hernia.
Off the subject, but I had emailed you to let you know that Amazon had that special running for Southern Living Magazine, but now they even have a better deal that I found - $5 for one year, darn I already ordered mine at the other price. Here is the link view-source:http://www.amazon.com/Deals-Magazines-Subscriptions/b/ref=sv_mag_3?ie=UTF8&node=604932
YES, I'll be happy to pray with you.
My co-worker's grandson was born with an extra finger nubbin (what we called them!) on each hand and had them removed just a couple months ago during 2 separate surgeries. He was just under 2 years when they did that. It was nerve-wracking for them because of his having to be put under, but he did well with each surgery and the healing thereafter. Just a warning, though. Go easy with the feedings for 24 hours after she comes to. He experienced quite a bit of nausea and some vomiting afterwards, and his reward of a Happy Meal didn't end up being so "happy" after all. lol
So glad to read of your prayer day on Sept 17. My daughter is having her third cranial reconstruction on the 18th--she was born with fused skull bones, among other things. This is her 13th (I think? I've lost count!) surgery, and I'm especially nervous to have her brain just hanging out while they work on her skull again. Some surgeries I don't get nervous for, but I think I have post traumatic stress disorder from the PICU because any time I know she'll go to PICU, I get more nervous.
Sigh. I'll be counting down and thinking about you. :)
Praying for that sweet girl!!!! love her little smocked dress and bow ...
