Being a Planner and being a Mother don't always seem to go hand in hand. No matter how many lists I make or daily schedules I write out - nothing seems to go the way I think it should. And that's okay.
Take today for instance:
Today was a free day so we left this morning to go walking on a new trail. It was such a pretty morning so I packed my camera and put Harper in a cute outfit so when we finished walking I could take her first outdoor pictures. The walk was great - I got in some good exercise but towards the end - Harper had HAD it. And every time I tried to stop and get her to let me take her picture she would scream her head off. So no go on the outdoor pictures. Note to self: Next time take pictures BEFORE the walk.
Then I thought we would come home, eat lunch, let Harper take an early nap and then go visit our friend Melissa before another friend was stopping by to visit and then cook dinner. Well - yesterday Harper took two naps totaling 5 hours. Today she wouldn't nap to save her life. Not one minute.
So we just learn to go with the flow. Sometimes things fall in place like yesterday when she slept a lot and I got so much done and today we just spent more time playing with dolls in the floor. And I loved every second of it.
And this is one of the reasons why I cherish every moment:
Harper eating today - in the last few days she has started doing this "fake laugh" constantly and it cracks me up. You should have seen her when I showed her this video of herself - she was REALLY fake laughing at herself. ha!

Adorable!! Absolutely adorable!! =)
She is soooo cute! I love all the videos. They help me see her true adorable personality.
I know what you mean about trying to plan something and it turning out totally different than you thought. That's just the life of a mommy I guess! :)
My little Charlie Mac loved the video too, he started the fake laughing as well. 0)

Kate does that too, but her's sounds more like a fake cough - haha! Too cute!!!
That is sooo cute, my 13 month old daughter gets a kick out of herself as well. Is your camera the type that you can flip the LCD screen over so she can see herself while you are recording? My daughter LOVES that, it is so funny!
Some days just don't go as planned!! But that's ok - many more photo ops ahead! Loved the video - too cute!!!

Where did you get her bib? I think it would be perfect for my little guy.
I don't know if you meant to or not, but the title of your post is spelled wrong :)
Our little girl did this at the exact same age then she started talking. These are those memories you will never forget even when they are grown. I so enjoy reading this blog. Thank you :o)
God Bless,
Kelly

Well, she's young, but she can sure work the cameras, can't she? That was precious. What a great personality! Her sweet hair is growing a lot. Must be all the carrots.
She is a precious little girl and the love you show for her is so uplifting. Thanks for sharing.
Kelly:
I so enjoy reading you updates on beautiful Harper. Your honesty about being a mom and the joys and challenges that come with it are something that I think every mom identifies with. It is the greatest "job" and privilege in the world... but also such a daunting responsibility but one that I would not trade. The lives that your blog has touched is nothing short of amazing. I cannot imagine what a joy and privilege it is to share your faith in such a public way and I cannot imagine the heartbreak that comes from reading all of these heartbreaking prayer requests, it must be overwhelming. I just wanted to say "Thank You." You are a wonderful mom, inspiring Christian, faithful friend and loving wife... this is all evident from your blog. All of that to say "Thank You"... thank you for reminding me that faith and family should always remain a priority!
So, I just watched that video five times. Why? Because my 11 month old little girl London was sitting in my lap eating when I hit play the first time and didn't stop laughing the whole time and then when it was over I played it one more time for her. Again, she giggled the whole way through. When I didn't hit play again, London starting pointing at Harper's picture on the screen and grunting, so we watched it again (repeat this same thing two more times!). Finally I told London that Harper had to go night night and closed the screen until she was done eating and in bed. hahaha! It was the funniest thing. So, London says "Hi!" to Harper!
Just precious! :)
What a sweetie! She should hear our little girl's fake cry--it is quite pitiful :). She will fake cry and then start laughing! Little babies are precious, aren't they?!
I always read your blog and never comment, but that video of Harper giving raspberries and laughing cracks me up. It really put a smile on my face and I needed that. Thank You!
What a cute video and laugh! :)
That is too CUTE!!
I am laughing right now becuase this sounds just like us!!! We know all about things not going according to MY plans! But, I cherish everyday...long naps OR no naps!

Poor mama!

Showing that sense of humor already - I love it!
I can't stop laughing! I was laying in bed reading and couldn't pull up the video and at almost midnight had to run in here and watch.. now I am laughing so hard that I don't know if I can sleep! ;) HA!
SO CUTE, beautiful sweet girl, I just eat her up!
HUGS!
Too cute! Just what I needed to see after a looooooooooong day. Thanks for sharing!
That fake laugh is adorable!!!
I had to laugh at the bags under her eyes in the one photo. My daughter gets like that when she skips her nap. You can tell they are so tired, but they just refuse to give in!
Kelly,
In the one picture that she has the red bags under her eyes, had she just been crying? Because if not, this is allergies, big time. Perhaps she was reacting to something today and that's why she wouldn't nap. Remember her non-sleeping months prior to her allergy test?
Good luck!
She's such a poppet!
Cxx
She is a mess...but she's the cutest mess I've ever seen :)
Kelly, she is so beautiful! thank you for this little video. :) It's delightful to see Harper growing up. My little William (15 months) just loves watching videos of himself laughing - he gets quite hysterical!!
Just when we think she cannot get any cuter. Love the video of her giving raspberries! What a joy it is to see her grow and blossom!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim
Thanks for the oh so cute video of baby Harper! I love her fake laugh! My almost 3 year old has the fake laugh mastered now and it is oh so funny :0) ! Welcome to mommyhood, no matter how much ya plan things out... your little one seems to have the master plan... If ya look at my blog I posted yesterday... you will see exactly what I mean... Thanks for sharing
Summer
Funny girl. My daughter just called to tell me she tried your salsa recipe (I made it and told her about it.) She has 3 year old triplet boys and she said they LOVED it! She said they literally were attempting to drink it out of the bowl. She does feed them a lot of veggies and they love spicy foods!
Get prepared for when Harper gets her first taste!
Harper is such a doll! I love her little routine she does afte each bite! So Cute!
Harper is so beautiful and I love her fake laugh :)
I am listed on your Waiting for a Child prayer list and just wanted to let you know that we brought our son home from the hospital Friday August 21. Gabriel Matthew was born 8/18 and his birth parents gave us the privildge to be his parents on 8/21. We were afraid to share before he came home because of failed adoptiongs... but now we're shouting it from the rooftops!
Thank you for the prayer list and I will keep praying until all requests are accompanied by a praise.
God is Good, Meredith
Oh my gosh, I just love that stage!! She is so sweet:-)
Do you just watch videos of her and have a hard time even believing all you went through at the beginning of her precious life? I know you just praise God for her every day- so glad you are blessed with that little sweetie.
Oh my word, soooo funny and soooo cute! And what a messy eater you have on your hands, haha!!!! :)
So cute! I guess you just have to learn to go with it when you have a little one.
That video is too funny! She may be messy, but she's definitely cute :)
cutest. thing. EVER!
Love the fake laugh! Isn't is so funny how they pick up on these things at such a young age? My little sweetheart is only 2 1/2 months and will fake cry with the best of 'em!
Thanks for sharing!
Oh my goodness SO CUTE!!!! :)

Oh Kel, what fun! I love to start my day by seeing what you two are upto. Love the video. I wish you could come see us. I bet Annie can get rid of those fake laughs and get her to belly laugh!
aww she's too cute for words! ugh i hate i didn't introduce myself and shelby to y'all saturday! i can just kick myself now! i love her fake laugh! :) Shelby started lifting her upper body up last night while she's on her tummy and just stays propped up on her elbows forever! Josh was floored when he saw her do it! :) Hee hee
Oh, shelby has that same horsey that Harper was playing with! I call it her "Mule" b/c it's the closest toy I could find that looked like a mule. Gotta represent SAU ya know! :) haha...

She is so adorable Kelly - I've been reading your blog ever since Harper was born. Sorry I haven't commented until now. My daughter is pregnant and due November 7th. She'll be living with me and I just know I will be spoiling that little boy when he gets here!
Thanks for sharing your life and Harper with us...I love reading all the stories and seeing the pictures of Harper!
Hugz,
Michele
Aaron does the same thing when he eats! But I call it a fake cry because it appears to be his way of begging for another bite!
I love the video! I sure most those days--she is such a beauty!
Gotta love the "fake Laugh"!!!
Harper is such a beautiful little girl.
I love babies laughing! My 9-month-old niece just cracked up at a video of herself with their dog yesterday! So stinkin' cute!!!
Kelly, I couldn't agree more about the being "flexible" thing...I always have the best of intentions when the day begins. LOVE the laugh!!
I LOVE the fake laugh! My 16 month old does the fake cry - it's pretty funny.
She's beautiful :)
Kelly, The mother and nana in me has compelled me to tell you to be sure to take photos of Harper's foot and little toe before the surgery because time will erase the memory of how she looks with it. Love to you and Harper.
What a mess! I loved the rasberry blowing..so sweet!
~Elyse
so im sitting her watching the lil video and Kennedy is just cracking up at her! so cute how babies LOVE other babies. kennedy always blew raspberries when I fed her, which was cute until she was eating GREEN beans and I was wearing a WHITE shirt and she got a little out of control. heavens...
That cracks me up! I love it. My little girl does the same thing when she eats. I love just watching ALL babies do all these cute and silly things!
Harper is so precious and beautiful!
It's hard to get anything done when they are that cute...you just want to sit and play w/ them all day!
That fake laugh is too cute.
That is the cutest thing! So precious!
That made me laugh...for real!
Hilarious!!!
That is the cutest thing ever!!!
Love the "laugh" but especially love the pic of her in her stroller with her feet up and her toes hanging on.
Oh my gosh!! TOO cute!! I miss little babies around the house, sigh...maybe we'll adopt again and have 5 little cuties running around!!
My daughter is about a month older than Harper. It is a lot of fun to read about your little girl. You have inspired me to start my own blog to document life as a mom. Maybe someday I'll have some readers, Ha!
Well, thank you for sharing your life with the world.
So true...planning only gets you so far. Love that fake laugh and don't you LOVE those bibs with troth. They make messes so much easier. Plus when both of our boys were finished eating what was on their tray they would look in their bibs and go after what had fallen in. We called it dupster diving!
that video just made my morning! adorable!
I guess she hears you laughing and tries to imitate you. She sounds like she could be a mess if she wanted to be. :)
So cute! I even made my husband stop what he was doing to come over and he agreed, too cute.
Halarious! She is the cutest thing EVER!
hehe that video was too cute!!!
Saw you at Wal-Mart today. I was the no makeup, hadn't showered, still in my work-out clothes mom of two in the next check-out lane over. Wanted to say hi, but by the time I had finished paying, they were escorting you to another register. And I thought those kind of things only happened to me at Wal-Mart. :) Just happy to see/hear Harper in a good mood and you at least had your iPhone to keep you busy while you waited. Nothing more awkward than standing there staring at the cashier while waiting for someone to fix the issue.
I also wanted to offer to help you get those outdoor pictures of Harper. I dabble in a little photography and I know when dealing with kids, it is always nice to have an extra pair of hands around to get their attention while you try to capture that perfect picture! You can check out my blog and contact me if you want. Have a great day!
Aaawww... look at those poor tired eyes!
That video is just the funniest, cutest thing ever! Her little spit and laugh routine cracked me up!!
I have recently began reading your blog and feel compelled to tell you that you inspire me. I have really been struggling with my Faith and reading your blog and your prayer requests have been helping me. I have not seen the tragedy that many of your prayer requests have but I am in awe of how you are able to look to God and still praise Him even in the most difficult of times. I only hope that if I ever do have to endure such tragedy I am able to be as strong as you and many of your friends.
Oh and Harper is ADORABLE!!! I have a 14 month old little girl, Olivia. They are so much fun God is good to give us such wonderful children.
Oh my gosh that video is WAY TOO CUTE!! I love babies!!! I know what you mean about planning. I think that is one of the hardest things about me becoming a mom because I was such a planner before.
I'm CRACKING UP at that side-of-the-mouth blubbering! I'm not sure how much she actually got in her belly, but it sure was fun to watch!
Priceless! I love it!
She is a ham, and def. a lover of the camera! :)
to cute
sorry to add another comment to the hundreds you get, but just wanted to say i enjoy your blog. I ran across it one day through a friends blog :) My husband and I are trying now and it keeps me going seeing other stories of people who were not successful at first but it happened for them eventually. Love the videos! Have a great day :)
I love the little raspberry noise she makes too. So darling!
Oh my goodness how cute!! My girls made me watch that with them...over and over and over again (I didn't mind! :)
Oh that video is hilarious!! I am a MAJOR planner and my days never go as planned. I always say it's God's way of teaching me to go with the flow more. You don't see me complaining when Owen just plain wants to stay indoors and play with mom. Nope, I love every second of it. The errands can wait til' tomorrow.
I needed a good laugh today. Thanks Harper!! What a doll she is Kelly!!
haha, so cute!! love the little laugh!
OH my she is so cute. And that laugh just cracks me up, oh yeah and the spitting too. Her little personality is so cute.
Have a Blessed evening,
Dawn
So funny. She checks to see if you're gonna respond too...she's got good comedic timing :)
That's so great...and even better that you caught it on video. I can remember D fake laughing, too. :)Isn't that bib the BEST?!? We really like the one we have just like it.
Hi, Kelly! I got to your blog from Angie's, and I had to post after reading about your time in Magnolia, Arkansas. I just spent last weekend there for my nephew's first birthday...my brother-in-law went to college there and played football. Great little town!!
So i'm not sure if anyone else will understand or think this, but hearing your voice in the video (i assume that's you talking to her) was really strange because you didn't sound like i expected! (Not in a bad way!) I guess when i read your blog you have a 'voice' that i had always imagined, and listening to your real voice was really weird! i know that's strange, but i thought i would share because i thought it was so funny how i had assumed you would sound one way and you SO did not! I can't really explain why it wasn't the same, but it was. Lots of love and prayers to your whole family!
Too stinkin' cute!
does "video 40" mean you've taken 40 videos of Harper?!? :) I'm sure we took that many of my little one in the first year too! :) loved her laugh and spitting...they don't grow out of that!
I could put that baby between 2 slices of bread and eat her up!!
Really Cute Kelly!
Oh, she is just so cute! The fake laugh is just too funny! That video reminds me of when my brother was that little and babies are so much fun at that age!
What a cute little faker!!
Such a cute video!
Blessings & Aloha!
