NEXT WEEK : DINING ROOM
**********************PLEASE READ:*************************
There has been some confusion on the schedule. I had to change this week due to a special request - so here is the schedule so you will be prepared!
Friday, May 22 - Dining Room
Friday, May 29 - Nurseries/Children's Rooms
Friday, June 5 - Office
Friday, June 12 - Bathrooms
Friday, June 19 - your choice - playroom, bonus room, laundry room
Friday, June 26 - Master Bedroom
Friday, July 3 - Garage/Yard
******************************************************************
So I realize I'm in the driver's seat of this little home tour but I have to admit - I'm a little sad about this week because my guest room is so boring. I haven't done a THING to it since we moved in almost 5 years ago but just the bare minimum. I have just wanted to work on all the other rooms first. And now I don't want to do anything in there because at some point it might become a second nursery or a play room/guest room. So I'm just waiting it out. Besides - the only guests we ever have are our parents (or my brother and SIL) and they just come to see Harper not stay in a fancy room.

(I know I said Harper would be an only child........but who knows? I really love being a mom.)
This bed was mine growing up only I had it white. I painted it black a few years ago to match the bedding I had at the time. I have a tiny little side table and some gold curtains.
This little armoire was our TV armoire when I lived with Laurie when we were single. Then I used it as a foyer table in my first house. It fits perfect in that spot here. And inside I store paper plates, napkins, cups and in the drawers are table cloths and place mats. I like to entertain and the pantry, kitchen and another chest just can't hold all the things I need. ha!
And in the corner is a little iron basket with magazines for guests .......Cooking with Paula Deen and Southern Living of course - what else would I have ???
I would say I need ideas - because I do.......but I'll just wait it out to see what happens in our future with other children or take the playroom tour in case we do that instead!
Okay - YOUR TURN
Remember the rules:
1. Please link to your post, not your blog. If you don't know how - just click on the title of your post once it's done and copy the url up in your browser and then paste it back here. If you link to your blog and not the url - I will most likely delete your link. Because people are touring days after and they will not go directly to your tour unless you link to the permanent post.
2. If you add your name but don't have a home tour - I'll delete your link. (Sorry for these rules but I'm trying to keep the tour user friendly!!!!!)
3. Over on the right is code for the button if you want it!
HAPPY TOURING AND HAPPY WEEKEND!!!
P.S. I know this is a "Friday" tour but if I don't post on Thurs night after miss priss goes to bed - I may not ever get it on here. So yeay for all you early birds!

I love your soothing blue and gold. It looks like a nice guest bedroom for friends to drop by- I want to drop by just to see that magazine article on Paula Deen. :)
You can make it so it posts the next day. You write it all out then at the bottom it says post options....changed the date and the time to whenever you want it to post on your blog.
Also that room would be beautiful if you did a cape cod style (light blue walls, white bedding) it has great natural light.
Mine are TOO filled with kids to have any EXTRY LOL! No guest room here-see ya' next week!
First time to show off a room!!! Can't wait to everyone's guest rooms!
I love the bed! Thanks for hosting this...I've had so much fun seeing all of the rooms!
Hey Kelly - this has nothing to do with the house tour - which is lots of fun BTW. I began reading Emily McKay's blog and praying for her back in March when you posted about her husband's death. Have you been keeping up with her too? If so, you know that beautiful little Aubrey Grace was born Monday. She was born with a soft palate that will require surgery but Emily hasn't posted when it will take place. Just thought some of your readers might need a prayer prompt for her. God uses you and your blog so wonderfully in that way. It's a real blessing to the body! Thank you for being His instrument.
It actually makes me feel better that your Guest Bedroom isn't as put together as the rest of your beautiful home ... I'd think you were "too perfect" otherwise:)
I am with you. I haven't done much yet with my guest room. I am waiting it out to see where the room takes me. Maybe this tour will give us inspiration:)
I think it's not bad at all. All you need to do is add a pretty bedspread and it would be fine...I like clean walls. I would post my guest room...but it is now the nursery so if you ever get to those I'll post mine for sure.
I think you have a lovely guest room. It's cozy and welcoming. Just my 2 cents.
I'll have to pass on the post this week. We don't have a guest room. We have a guest sofa. Ha!
Kelly, this is SO much fun. Your guest room is fine and the main thing is that your guests feel welcome and that's what's important. I hope I did the link thing correctly. I'm new to this and am just learning. Thanks for hosting Show Us Where You Live Friday!
I think your guest room looks nice! I love the bed.
I don't know if you are on the Gymboree mailing list but it is Circle of Friends time - you get 30% off your total purchase, plus you earn $25 in Gymbucks for every $50 you spend. The online code is GYMCIRCLE. Just an FYI since you mentioned Gymboree recently. I love their clothes but never buy unless its on sale!
I can't wait to see everyone's rooms! I love seeing how other's decorate!
Hi Kelly!
I LOVE your blog :)
I also want to say THANK YOU for doing the "Show Us Where You Live". It's so much fun and I look forward to it each week.
You and your family are amazing. Harper is a little doll!!
Thanks again for sharing your blog with us... you sure do bring a lot of joy to many!
Sincerely,
Jen S.
Oh, I'm jealous of all the guest rooms! LOL We 'should' have one, but the kiddos took over and it's a guest/play room. :)
I look forward to this every Friday! Thank you so much for starting thise! It helps get that room clean for the weekend! Ha! I love the colors of your guest room and completely understand you not wanting to do too much to it right now. Have a great weekend! Thanks again for sharing!
Stefanie
I have so enjoyed participating in Show Us Where You Live Friday. We don't have a guest room...yet. Currently my mother-in-law is living with us. So, I linked to some photos of her room. Someday, it will become our guest room. Thanks again for hosting!
You've been talking an awful lot lately about more children! I thought you said something about one child being enough! ;-)
Of course,I'm just kidding. I know you'd be so grateful if you're blessed with more!
Thanks for showing us where you live. And thanks for doing the home tour links. It's so fun.
I can never get mine to post just the link of the room. I will try again next week. sorry.
This is so much fun! Thanks for being the Host!!
Many Blessings,
Amanda
I am enjoying these home tours.
For my guest room I guess I could unfold the sleeper sofa lol. With five kids in four bedrooms there is no room for guests.
I like the black furniture. It looks good on the tan wall.
Thanks for hosting SUWYL
Kelly! I really appreciate you taking the time.
It's a really fun meme.
Your guest room is huge!
Love the soothing colors and the bedding.
The basket holding your magazines is lovely.
Have a wonderful weekend.
~Melissa :)
You won't get ANY decorating tips from my post, but I HAD to post this week since my guest room is the only room at my house that is even close to being worthy to participate in this :o)
Have fun!
Hey Kelly...I'm #51 and didn't post my correct URL. I reposted as #52 with correct info, but it was deleted...so I re-reposted, and that links been deleted too. Ha. Not sure if it's Mr. Linky or you. :) Here's the correct URL:http://thestainfam.blogspot.com/2009/05/kellys-tour-of-homes-guest-bedroom.html
Sorry for any confusion!!
Thanks for hosting us again!
sweet room, love the pillows. Most importantly, you open it to those you love, it doesn't need wall treatments when it is a sign of hospitality! When someone comes, they sleep on our couch in Benaiah's room!
Our guest room looks alot like yours, but ours has even less decor. I think someday I will get around to making it a bit nicer for guests, but honestly i have found myself get to the point of not wanting to spend any more time, energy, and resources on my home. I just feel content with my geust room because it is a king bed, with nice sheets and cover. I think in God's time, he will provide a head board and some other decor, but I want to wait for him to provide in his time. We are thankful though, to even have a guest room now. It has been a huge blessing to those we love so dearly when they come to stay. The home touring is such a creative idea Kelly. Very neat!
Hopefully one day our navy guest room will be filled with children. Check it out on my blog.

Oh, I love the room and the tours! I can't wait till I have a proper house that is worth posting about!

Hii...wow, your blog is so cool! Lolz, you have a LOT of followers -- I have 12 followers :P

Hi. I came accross your blog on a freinds and have been stopping in occasionally. You little one is so cute and I LOVE her name. I make custom baby items such as bibs, diaper pouchs, etc. I did another bib for a Harper last fall and fell in love with that name. Anyway, I'd love to make your Harper a bib for free as a "welcome to the planet" gift and I do this too as a way to expand my market in hopes you'll pass the word about my items along. So check it out at www.collectionsbytaranicole.blogspot.com. Pick out any item and I'll embroider it and ship it to you for FREE! Oh, and just so you know I'm not some weirdo wanting to stalk you and send free stuff here is our family blog www.familyrowell.blogspot.com. I actully do this for lots of bloggers. I just made some for Cooper and Hadley over at "Our Journey". You can email me at tararowell2004@yahoo.com with your order. Happy Shopping!
Happy SUWYLF! :0)
Thank you so much for hosting this! It is SO much fun!!
I wish I had a guest room...maybe if one of the 4 kids moves out I will! Have a great weekend ~ Susan
I love it Kelly :) A guestroom just for me to come and visit, PERFECT!!!!! That is what you were saying, right??? It just screams, come over Lauren, haha :)
I think the room is great! I do not have a guest room (2 kids, office, and a playroom so there is no more rooms) See you next week on the tour.
Guest room? Ha! My 2nd baby is currently sleeping in the living room because we don't have enough space!!!
I'm loving the tour! Your home is beautiful. Love the armoire. :)
And I'm happy that you are thinking about a sibling for Harper someday - if God wills. One is grand, but two is even more wonderful. ;)
Zoe
of course you have paula deen and southern living!! duh!
i love the room. it's simple and just a few framed pieces on the wall would pull everything together. since everyone comes to see harper, why not shoot some cool black and whites (to tie in the black of the bed and the armoire) of the little munchkin? who could resist precious shots of harper??
and i vote for a 2nd nursery. having two is way better than having one (in my humble opinion) and you'll be amazed at how much they take care of each other and learn from each other. i used to wonder how my heart would be big enough to love another child. . . my heart got bigger. i didn't have to make room.
enjoy motherhood. it is the absolute BEST "job" in the world!! (where else can you work in your bunny slippers if you wanted to?)
have a spectacular weekend. and no pix from my guest room b/c we don't have one, but as soon as we remodel my office, we will. so i'll keep you posted!
Ok, I've goofed. I didn't see my post on #28 so I tried to repost, which is my living room post from last week at #113. SO SORRY!
Kelly you have a beautiful home and a gorgeous daughter. Cute blog too. I'm a new follower. :)
I do have a guest room, but it has been mostly dismantled, because we thought our move to TN was imminent! NOT. So it now has just a king size memory foam pad and dresser/side tables and wall furnishings and a heap of bedding on the floor. The good news is that I gave the bed to my daughter to use for her guests now, but I get to sleep on it when I go see her, SIL and grand-baby Gracie! But I will love looking at everyone elses beautiful rooms and get new ideas for my next one...when we do finally move to TN. :-)
Hey Kelly -
I posted the link wrong last night, and just realized it. My original post was #53 - you are welcome to delete that one! So sorry...this is what I get for trying to operate off of an iphone :)
Leslie
Ha, I don't even have a guest room anymore. It turned into our nursery when I got pregnant!
I love the magazines in the guest bedroom! Your house is so warm and inviting, thanks for starting up this series. I am loving getting to peak inside so many different homes.
Lauren
P.S. thanks for adding me to the prayer blog list. :)
So This is my first time doing the tour and I linked twice the first one is wrong and the second one is right! :) (#127 and #128) #128 is correct! :) sorry about that! I love the tour of homes it has been so much fun to look at where people live! I enjoy your blog so much! :) Have a great weekend.
Stephanie Portman
Kelly,
I thought this week was supposed to be nurseries. Are you still planning to do that? I hope so. I'd love to get some ideas.
I love this feature of your blog. I thought this week was going to be nurseries, and I was hoping to find some cute ideas. Are you still thinking of doing that in the future for a post? :)
It's a beautiful room! You are a great decorator!!! :) Reading your blog on fridays, has motivated me to keep up with my house more. lol I am OCD extreme, but it's hard to clean with a 6 month old, part time job and a very messy hubby. :) But I have kept up with it!
here's a fun idea... since it is family that staying in your guest room and they just want to be with Harper anyway, get some really cool think inexpensive frames from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or Wal-Mart, and fill them with candid black and white photos for these "guest" and Harper....
Love your home- even your rooms with little decor look beautiful!! Hopefully you will have another baby to put in there one day!!!
My first time participating in the room tours. So excited to view all the guest rooms! Love your guest room, Kelly!
How have I NOT come across your blog!? You are too totally cute!
I'm now a follower (um... like clearly thousands of others) -- Look forward to reading!!
p.s. -- Your baby is PRECIOUS!
I love your room - it's much roomier than what we have - this have been my first time taking part :)
Wow! Look at all the guest rooms! I would participate except for the fact that I would be requried to actually clean my house! :) I gave you an award on my blog! www.littlellamas.blogspot.com
Kelly,
I just love your blog....I've been checking in on Harper (and you and Scott) on a weekly basis since I found your link on a blog from NC. I love your home tour Fridays...it beats the cable shows hands down. Please put in your next blog entry where you got that adorable iron basket...I have got to have one of those-ha!
Jeanne
PS: MY SIL lives in Harrison, AR. Next time I am in AR and up her way (the rest of the ILs live in Perryville) we may have to stop by.
Very nice room. Love the bed. Do you need any guests to fill it up? Just kiddin'
Such cute ideas
Oh, I like it! Either way, it looks better than my guest room..which is my living room! ha!
Kelly, I literally do not have one thing on my walls in my guest room...talk about BARE!!! :) I love your black chest-o-drawers...looks great!!! Hope you are fabulous today!!
I'd stay in your guest room ANYTIME!
No seriously, I want to.
:-)
You have a very pretty guest room!
thanks for doing this home tour! its so much fun to check out other people's ideas! i haven't posted anything from my house yet but only b/c my iphoto and computer have been down. sad. but i hope to catch up once they are fixed! love your blog!
I'm taking the week off this week since we don't have a guest room, but I'm thoroughly enjoying looking at all the guest rooms! Thanks again for hosting this, it's been so much fun!
Our guest room got turned into the girls' room since Drew (being the big brother) already got his own.
And let me just say, having more than one kid is a HUGE time-saver, because they have playmates and you don't have to constantly entertain just the one. I'm just sayin'. :)
I totally want to participate in these tours... I am a bit late, but very excited to participate next week! :)
This has been so much fun! Thanks to everyone for inviting us into your homes.
Gina
Love the schedule! Thanks! I'm a planner to a fault. LOL
Know that I'm here praying hard!
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

thanks a bunch - I will be ready for kids rooms! haha
I left my friday room on saturday. Okay so I'm a little late, sorry
Patti
I love the bed. I wish I hadn't given away my antique metal bed now.
I'm so excited to finally join in! Thanks for the fun tour... I love seeing everyone's guest rooms and thinking of all the happy hospitality going on. :)
i know exactly what you mean about the guestroom being last priority!
ours has been treated the same way, but i love participating in all aspects of the house tour and having this record of our home for years to come.
thanks again for hosting and sharing all these great ideas with your readers. i love your magazine basket!
Thanks for doing this. I'm having a blast seeing all these rooms, getting so many ideas, but most of all, meeting so many great people!
Kelly,
This was such a great idea. I have gotten so many unique decorating ideas from all of those participating. I actually did all three rooms at once to get caught up with everyone. Will try to be on schedule this week. Thank you again for sharing. It is always such a joy to visit your blog page.
Love the tour so far! Thanks for the idea!
Found you through Chic Runner. I am excited to join in.
haha...glad you gave us a schedule! :) And thanks for including the yard!
My apologies if this is not the correct place to post, so feel free to move it if you need to.
My wife asked me yeterday to to post on this site. Adrianne wanted me to let you that she has been a firm reader since Harper's birth. She also wante to let you know that she is originally from Rockport, TX, now living in Columbus, OH.
Adrianne is in the hospital with complication from severe appendicitis (sp?) and has asked for all your prayers.
Unfortunately, her situation has become more dire since yesterday. She had surgery today, in which they removed a majority of her intestine. If her remaining intestine remains healthy, she should have few, if any, long term effects, but that is a big 'if' at this point.
So your prayers are much appreciated by both her and me.
Thank you,
Neil Johnston
