Breaking Free!!!

Today has been so great!
The weather is beautiful and this may be our only good day for awhile so Harper and I got out for her first official shopping trip.
This is her this morning in her runner up Easter dress. I got this precious little dress for $12 off ebay. It has matching bloomers. But I think it looks springy so she can wear it to church another Sunday. I think she looks cute in blue!
We have a nice outdoor mall here in town so we got out and walked around. We only went in a couple of stores........we mainly just walked. Harper did pretty good - only a little bit of screaming. Going shopping with a baby is a WHOLE new experience. It's hard to look for long and you never know when a screaming fit will happen. And you have to scout out places to change diapers or feed. But it was SO nice to be OUT! We almost went to T J Maxx but as soon as we walked in the door she had a meltdown so we'll save that for another day. We came home and rested and our friends Kacy and Wells called and wanted to know if we would like to walk!
This is a horrible picture but Harper and Wells had their first meeting and date today. Harper screamed through half of it and slept through the other half. I'm not sure if there will be a second date if she keeps that up. ha! Actually I don't even think they knew the other one was around but it was nice for Kacy and I to get out and enjoy the sunshine and go home with two sleeping babies!

Because I've had such a nice day and the weather is so pretty - I just have to share today that Jesus is my JOY!!!! No matter the circumstances in my life - I have an inner happiness and peace that comes from the joy that being a Christian gives me.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
(I HEART that verse!)

I had already decided that this was going to be my song for the day. I'm a BIG fan of hymns and I love this version of "Jesus Paid it All" done at Passion in 2006. And then I was reading Mandi's blog and she mentioned the same thing. So neat!

ALSO - go here to see about an awesome give away of a little jumper or jon jon from Cotton Candy tutus!!!

I'm also wondering:
Where is the strangest place you have ever had to change your child's diaper or nurse?????

About a month ago we were traveling back from Texas from seeing family, I was with my step dad and mom and Stetson made a major stinky. So we pulled into a gas station with outside bathrooms the kind of nasty bathroom you have to get the key from the clerk inside. Well the clerk told us that he didn't have a key?? He said for us to go to the McDonalds way across the street. There was no way I was going to change him in the car and have that smell to travel with. So when we walked out the door back door of the gas station there was this metal window ledge that I laid his chaging pad on and changed him right there is the open on the gas staions windows ledge. It was a bad one it was on his clothes and just right out NASTY!! So that is the oddest place that I can think of at this point. Wish my mom would have took a picture of the ledge is was small for a 21 month old to be having his diaper changed. Serves that clerk right!!

Oh my...3 little ones..I have nursed or changed diapers about everywhere. . I can stand up in a stall and hold the baby and nurse. I have also had to lean over and nurse in the backseat while my husband was driving to stop the screaming so we could travel. Not recommended ;) My best was when I had baby #2 and she was a newborn screaming waiting for the prescription to be filled so I took out a blanket to cover and sat down in the waiting area to nurse and the pharmacist comes out to explain things to me and my 3 year old grabs my blanket and runs. About died!

I've nursed in plenty of dressing rooms, in the car, even on our friend's boat. Poopie diapers, now that is a little more tricky because they stink.

I had to change my son in the back of a airplane at 30,000 feet between Atlanta and Oklahoma City. Christopher had a huge blow out and the flight attendents were such a help.

I have nursed on an airplane before. I had the window seat and my husband on the other side so it was no big deal. My fave place when in public though is a dressing room! Diapers get changed anywhere...stroller, carseat, lap, you name it! The worst experience was driving home from visiting family and my son had a full-out BLOW-OUT! We were still about an hour from home and had nowhere to pull over, but the side of the road. We use cloth diapers and I have never wanted to throw a diaper away so badly in my life! Thank the good Lord for plastic baggies, at least they helped a little.

I had to change my son at a Rudy's BBQ and there was no changing table/mounted wall thing in the bathroom. So I just did it quickly on the space next to the sink. Well, in my hurriedness (is that a word) the diaper got kicked off the counter top onto the floor Poop side down!!! So after I changed his diaper, I had to clean the floor! Nice!

This is not as weird as some peoples, but I nursed my daughter standing up in the bathroom of Carraba's one time and she pooped on me during the process!! it was a bad experience!!

Many times in the car, at home while I had to pee:), fitting rooms, ah memories:)

Diapers, I can't recall any odd places, the blowout in preschool at her sisters graduation stands out. I had to change her in the van and had no complete change of clothes!

Hi Kelly. It's my first time to comment. You are such a blessing! I've been following your blog since Harper was born. Love the blue dress! She is a doll:)

I breastfed my 2 month old while evacuating hurricane Rita. It was supposed to be a cat. 4 or worse and headed right to us. Everyone was leaving town at the same time. It was utter chaos. Traffic was at a stand still or barely rolling at 1 mi/h. My husband had the pick-up and I drove the Expedition, both filled with all we could cram in. My 10 year old daughter was riding with me and helped me with Joel. She gave him a couple of bottles and changed him, but he finally wanted mommy and I fed him in the driver seat. Mind you, we were not moving most of the time and it was almost impossible to pull over b/c people had made a third lane out of the shoulder. Besides, I "needed" to feed him or pump by then. It was so scary to be stuck with a hurricane coming! The strangest place I changed him: one was when he was smaller, while in the bathroom sitting on the toilet, the other was after he could stand up. I had to change a poopy diaper while he stood up in a restaurant bathroom. Also, once I had to go to the bathroom when I was out somewhere alone with him and there was no where to put him to do that. I had to hold him while I went to the bathroom! It was hard to pull up my pants and button, zip and wash my hands all with one hand!

okay so strangest place so far wasn't all that strange I've popped the trunk of the car many a times and changed her right there on her mat because lets face it those public restroom changing tables can be pretty gross. But wait till she's potty training. I remember taking Riley at 3 years old some place and she was screaming she had to pee and I pulled over and ran her behind an apple tree where she managed to miss both our shoes thank goodness. Ahahahaa.

Some of these are too funny!

The strangest place I've changed Isabella's diaper is behind the desk of the Vice President of Mississippi College! We had to use his office for a meeting. It was supposed to be a short meeting and it was nap time for Isabella so I thought it would be no big deal to bring her in her stroller. Well, she thought differently and decided to make an "explosion" in her diaper. The two guys I was having the meeting with could not stop laughing and could believe I actually changed her behind the VP's desk. At least it wasn't on top of his desk. To this day I haven't told the VP about it and feel like a little girl in trouble every time I see him!

I've nursed Isabella in many a dressing room but the oddest one for me was at the OBGYN. I went for my postpardem check up and she started getting really fussy. I gave her a bottle but she was not satisfied! I had to nurse her in my gown before the doctor did the exam!

I don't know about odd places, but the best place at the mall I ever found to nurse Maegan was Motherhood Maternity. They're super understanding...ours had a handicapped changing room with a padded seat, so I often holed myself up in there! I know what you mean about the pending screaming fits...and thought I'd pass it on! Continuously checking in, praying, and LOVING you and little Miss Harper!! Blessings...

Dear Kelly, please be aware that the link to Cotton Candy tutus has a virus. It is malware and my anti virus warned me as soon as I clicked the link. I'm sure its nothing they did, but someone has put a virus on their site that basically collects people's personal information. I just wanted to let you know!!

I am loving reading all the comments about the different places diapers had to be changed and nursings took place! When the baby wants something she must have it!
I have nursed my younger daughter in an airplane flying north to Indiana to visit family. And for the diaper changing I think the strangest place was a couple of months ago when I changed my older daughter in the stroller on the side of the street in Epcot!
Babies make going out an adventure!

Kelly,
This is the Kelli you were so sweet to encourage this week. Just had to tell you that this is the same verse God gave me for the week and that He has been loving on me :)
Miss Harper is a cutie!

Shopping and running errands is SO hard with a baby! I feel the pain! Luckily, Cilla love the car ride and to be out of the house. I swear...the girl hates being at home!
