Spring Break

It's a rainy, gloomy Monday here. Boo! Yesterday was warm and sunny but a little windy so we went on a family walk! Is Harper styling in her little hat or what?
We have discovered what all parents have found out before us. The greatest invention in all the world is .......Baby Enstien Videos. When Harper is screaming her head off - she will instantly calm down and coo if we turn one on. Of course I'm more partial to the Praise Baby videos so we have those also. They play Christian music instead of the classics. Here is Harper watching one yesterday. She's not into a pacifier - but she kind of likes having a little "softie" to hold and suck on. I'm okay with that.

Last night was a big night for us - we moved Harper's sleeping arrangements. She has been sleeping in her bouncy seat at night because that is the only place she would sleep. She refused to lay flat. But I decided last night she HAD to move to her pack and play because she is practically hanging off the bouncy seat (already). I was very afraid. But she did GREAT! I didn't sleep at all because I kept checking her (the pack & play is right next to my side of the bed). She was all stretched out - I think she probably felt great. She slept really good! Yeay - progress!
When my parents came this weekend, they brought a gift from a lady in my hometown. She made me this diaper bag and this precious pink and brown razorback quilt! How cute is that for a sweet girly hog fan???? Thanks Mrs. Sharon!!!!
Do ya'll know about Matilda Jane? I've been a big fan - the clothes are cute and funky and different and girly! I nearly fell over when I got a package from the sweet lady behind the company who wrote me the sweetest note and sent both Harper and I some clothes from her line. You MUST go check them out! It makes me want to be a little girl again!

So it's spring break here which means absolutely nothing to my life but it always is a symbol that summer is around the corner. I know we are all having crazy weather. Some of you have snow - we are having thunderstorms (yuck). I also know that people who read this blog are from all over so I'm wondering today .........WHERE ARE YOU FROM and WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WHERE YOU LIVE???? Aren't you curious about life in different states/countries? I am.
(Just reading the first 100 comments and you make your homes sound so great - can I come visit all of you????? Especially if you are in Seattle, England, and AUSTRALIA!!!!)(any readers in hawaii??? hee!)

Keep praying for Stellan and all the others on my links to the left. Love you!

Kelly,
I am from Charlotte, NC. My favorite thing about where I live is that it usually doesn't get too cold and the summers are incredible! Very warm/hot, but not so humid like Charleston, SC where I grew up. Also, it's only a 3 hour drive to my parents in Charleston, a free place to stay when going to the beach!

Those prayers you prayed for that girl to have big beautiful eyes sure did pay off! She is a doll!

I'm from NE Louisiana. Our weather has been wonderful lately. Warm and sunny and breezy!
My favorite thing, though, is when fall comes around and all the leaves turn colors. I LOVE IT!

Hi Kelly! We live in Southwest Florida, where I am afraid it is already HOT!! Yesterday we went to the beach, which is 5 minutes from our driveway, yet we only seem to go sporadically!! My boys love it! They are finally old enough to play alone along the shore, which meant mommy could catch up on her (severe)magazine obsession!

Here in Mississippi we are having beautiful weather...about to go outside and play now!!

Lucy loves Praise Baby...she did NOT like t.v. as a baby, but did love those DVDs. Such sweet music!!

BTW...just left Old Navy...spotted some dresses that I may have to have...I am a dress girl too...thought of you :)
Take care!

Could I really be 1st? Well, I am from Utah and I love it! The mountains are so beautiful! Although I get sick of snow, I love that we get 4 real seasons. Spring and Fall are my favs because it is so beautiful here. The people are great and friendly (for the most part:) There is so much do to outdoors and so much to see. I have lived in a few states (Nevada, Texas, Arizona and Utah) I have become very attached to my valley that I live in!

Where are you from is always a complicated question for me... I was born and raised in Austria and Southern Germany (where my family is from), I have lived in California and Colorado. But my HOME, and where I live now is Little Rock, AR. What I love most about it is the people - I don't ever want to live anywhere but the South again!!

Hi Kelly! I'm from Pullman, WA and I love the summer months in this little college town because all of the students are gone and the rest of us "locals" are able to enjoy the peace and quiet. We are expecting our first baby in August and some of your baby preparation posts have been extremely helpful especially when it comes to registering. Thanks!

I live where you live =)...BOOOO on the yucky weather today!

I love Matilda Jane - I just spent an embarrassing amount at a party a couple weeks ago on my Claire! There are a couple girls around here that host trunk shows...I can fill you in next time one of my good frieds are having one =)!

Love Harper's hat! I find out what I am having tomorrow and if it is a girl I will totally be going through your archives finding all your hook ups =)!!!

Hi Kelley! I am from La Quinta, CA (Palm Springs area). The weather is always fabulous! Except the summers are VERY hot - but I don't seem to mind it too much. You never have to worry about the weather being bad and Elle and I get to play outside all year long.

Harper is getting cuter by the day :-)

Hi, Kelly! Little Ms. Harper sure is the most stylin' baby girl I've ever seen! I am from a small town in Georgia near Chattanooga, TN. What I love most about this area is how pretty the scenery is with the mountain skylines. Also, the shopping is good and there are lots of tourist places to visit such as the Aquarium. You should visit Chattanooga! :)

WOW! Top Ten! I'm super excited! I live in Lubbock, Texas and what I love about living here is the people. I've lived in big cities (Las Vegas, Chicago & Dallas) and this is by far the friendliest part of the country. Even if you didn't grow up here, or go to school at the local university, you become and instant TEXAS TECH RED RAIDER fan! Go Raiders!!!!

I am from the great state of Texas, currently living in San Antonio. What I like best about where we live now is....(not in order of importance) No Snow to shovel (like we had in Virginia), Blue Bonnets, area is rich in Tx history and back in TX near all our family. I have a fond spot for Arkansas since my Dad was born and raised there!

San Antonio, Texas! I like the weather....a few cold days, and alot of warm days. Most people in SA are laid back, hard working, and family-oriented. There aren't enough nice parks here though. We have found one in the works that is exciting. Right now there is a 3 mile greenway along the creek. It is great for a jogging stoller and getting back in shape after a baby. Keep the pics and suggestions coming, baby girls are so fun to shop for...but being a SAHM doesn't allow too much $$ for that...well worth it.

Kelly,
Just wanted to say, I love your web site. I can't wait to read it everyday. Little girls are so fun, I have one fixing to turn 3. I emailed you a while back when I read your story in the Ark Bapt Mag. I'm one of Scott's college classmates. It was fun catching up on his life. I think you are an inspiration to me. I've started reading Power of a Praying Wife. My husband is great, but I need to know how to pray for him. Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for being a prayer warrior also. Congrats on getting to be a stay at home mom too! I long for that day, but I have my mom to help with Anna while I'm working.

I'm from Kingston, TN 30 minutes west of Knoxville. I love the weather her most of the time. I love spring when all the trees and flowers are blooming.
Today it's 71 and I want so badly to leave work and get my 2 year old daughter and just go run and play outside. The summers here are a little more humid than I like but it's what I'm used too since I've never lived anywhere else in my 30 years.
I just love to read your blogs and see what outfit miss Harper is wearing each day. She's beautiful.

Wow, Harper is such a doll! Well I live in Washington state, about 30 miles south of Seattle. Contrary to what everyone thinks, it really doesn't ALWAYS rain here. Lol, just all spring long... Anyway, my favorite thing about living in the Seattle area is that we have a little of everything. In under two hours I can be on the coast or in the mountains. I am half an hour away from one of the larger cities in America, or half an hour away from all the farm lands and countryside. It really is a wonderful place to be. I have always thought it would be neat to live in some other states, though, just to see what it was like.

Take care, I love your blog!

Hi Kelly ~

I love your blog! And Harper is so beautiful!

I am from Minnesota and it's my spring break this week too. But, it's chilly and rainy. Bummer.
I love Minnesota for all the lakes!
I grew up on a lake and there is nothing compared to being out on the lake as the sunsets! Also, Duluth on Lake Superior is an amazing place to visit! And, in Minnesota we have Caribou Coffee! MMM. Which is where I am right now working on my homework!
Minnesota is definietly not the beach but worth a trip someday =)

I'm from Tuscaloosa, AL - home of the Crimson Tide - great rivals!!!! Never been to a game there, but if I do I'll let you know! My children all 3 spent many a nights sleeping in bouncy seats, swings, car seats, you name it - whatever works!!!!

Great pics, as always!

I am originally from Chicago and now we live in south-central Kansas. The weather here can be insane- 70 degrees and sunny one minute to snowing the next! :P

The thing I love the most about the weather here is quicker spring and less winter (compared to Chicago). There weren't many early March days of sunshine and 70+ degree weather growing up like there are here. This past winter, I had to hear my parents lament about all the snow back home as it was quite mild here. I am thankful for that!

I am from Seattle, WA although I have lived all over the country... the south, the Northeast, the Northwest. While they all have their ups and downs I have to say Seattle is one of the most beautiful places to live! I think the combination of mountains and being surrounded by water cannot be beat!

I am living in Seattle, Washington at the moment. My hubby is military, so we move quite often. This is not my favorite place to live(although I'm hoping that will change once summer gets here and the sun comes out more often!). The best thing about it, I would have to say is the BEAUTIFUL scenery. The mountain views are amazing here!

Im from Alberta , Canada. I can say with most certainty that the good 3 feet of snow we have blanketing everything is NOT the best part of Alberta. I would say its the lakes. We have beautiful lakes... 5 of them all within 15 minutes of my house! also that Im lucky enough to be so close to the Rocky Mountains... sure its still a good 6 hour drive but its worth it! again ... beautiful. 6-7 months of Winter. not so much- I guess I have to take the good with the bad!

We have been living in England for the past 6 years. Really hard to say what my favorite thing is except to say it is generally not the weather : ) The spectacular countryside and the adorable villages would be near the top of my list. The upside to lots of rain is that it does make everything lush and green.

We moved here from Annapolis...love the Chesapeake Bay and a crab feast!

Congrats on the move up to the pack and play...my youngest was in a bassinet until her feet and head touched the ends...she slept so great there I was afraid to move her to the crib.

Hi Kelly! I'm from Washington. It's still cold here. Cold as in we got snow last weekend! I cannot believe it. Last year our last snowfall happened in June! I REALLY hope that is not the case this year. My favorite thing about living here is that my family all lives here. Otherwise I think I might pack everything up and hightail us down to California or somewhere warmer. I'm a summer girl!

PS. I LOVE how Harper's stuff has her name all over it. It's the cutest! As is she, but you already knew that!

Hey Kelly, I am from Wayside, Texas sort of. It is about an hour south east of Amarillo and there are about 30 people that live in the Wayside area. We have a post office in the one pump gas station (that actually doesn't even carry gas anymore! ha!) and other than that we have houses and farms. I actually live on a camp property. I have been going to camp here since i was a little girl then I worked out here in the summers, my husband and I met out here and now we live here and work here with our son! We LOVE it here! I feel so lucky to be here. The down side is that everything is at least 30 min away, but you get used to that. The Palo Duro Canyon is about 100 yards from our front door and you only have to see one sun set here to fall in love with the place!

I'm from Chicago. It is Spring break here too. For this momma, it means less break:) My four 1/2 year old is home from pre-school this week and my one year old is loving it. So far, for day one of break, we are having fun. My favorite think about Spring is watching the trees turn from stark to beautiful, but I miss watching the Kudzu emerge in the South (I used to live in Atlanta).

Blessings to you and your adorable Harper. I have loved seeing her recovery, your faith and the blossom of a SAHM. It is the hardest job you'll ever have, but I promise you will grow so much as a Christian, as a human and as a mother. It is worth all of the sacrifice! Your entry about quitting your job made me cry b/c it came on a day when I was lusting for a job (any job). It brought me to my knees and made me appreciate what I have.

Thank you,

However, anyone who lives in Iowa knows how the weather can change, there is rain/snow forecast for Saturday!!

Hi Kelly, Cute pics of Harper!

I'm from Oregon, 30 minutes from Portland. I've lived here all my life. Never even lived outside of my county!
I could say I would love to move to a different state just to say I did but I don't see that happening.

My favorite thing of where I live would most likely be that we live close to a major city, an hour and a half to Mt Hood for snow fun and an hour and a half to the ocean.

We are in Central Texas and this is the nicest time of the year here. It is 79 today, just beautiful outside.

That is so funny, Bentley is also sleeping in her pack and play. Since she was born she slept beside by bed in her bassinet. Since Bentley is so small she finally out grew it at 6 months. I don't think she is too much bigger than Harper.. Bentley is 13.4 pounds right now. I was too scared to put her in her room so I pulled out the pack and play and placed it beside my bed. And she will be there for a while.. with surgery soon appraching.. either that or I am going to have to move my bed in her room. ;)

Love the pictures, she's a doll!

I am a military wife and I can honestly say I have loved every place we have lived-some more than others, of course! All 7 of them! Currently we are in Abilene, TX and what makes this place so great is the people! Friendly, caring, conservative and fun! This summer we'll move to location #8-Washington DC!

Harper is such a doll and I am so thankful our prayers were answered. By the way, Little Rock was our home for 4 years and it's where my almost 11 year old was born. It was a fantastic place to live!

Currently living in OH, but a born and raised (and always will be) a Minnesota girl at heart!

I love OH because of how honestly nice everyone is. Sure, I work in probation, so not everyone is nice to others, but when we moved here, we felt instantly welcomed and at ease.

My favorites of MN are: the water! (you don't realize how much it is a part of your life until it isn't there...) and knowing the highways and backroads for everywhere to go! (also that fam and friends are there!)

love your blog!

I live near Albany, NY. And my favorite thing about being up here is the summer and fall. Summer up here is A-MA-ZING! That's how it gets me to stay. I'm all, NY I love you in the summer. And then we have yet another love affair in the fall. The candy colored leaves and crisp air and blue skies. Then winter comes and NY and I totally un-friend each other on FB, so to speak. And then....summer....we make up....and the cycle continues!! :)

I could do with out the very cold but It's worth it seeing a beautiful white Christmas, or watching a toddler experience snow for the first time. Also I love that we live close enough to downtown Chicago to just drive to a Sox game, or to Navy Pier or something like that. Buy we also live far enough away to not be in the "city."

This is my first time to comment. I've been lurking around since I read all over the blogging world about praying for Harper while she was in NICU. She is adorable and I praise God for answering prayers.

To answer your question, I like in Springfield, Oregon where the weather has been very mixed lately. We had some beautiful, sunny, warmer days and then a lot of rain and now just cold. However, my favorite thing about living here is that I can drive about an hour or 2 in any direction and either reach an ocean, a mountain, a river, or a desert. If you're outdoorsy at all (which I'm not, but I can appreciate God's handiwork) then you can experience it all in its full glory!

I would actually love to move back to FL!

How sweet is that Harper all ready for her walk?!
I live in Marshall, a small town in far North East Texas. I love the small town feel that's full of southern charm.

Hi Kelly~

Another blogger friend from Georgia:-) My husband is in the Air Force and we are currently stationed at Robins AFB, GA. What I like most about living here is, we are centrally located and we can in TN, AL, FL or the Carolina's within a couple of hours drive.

Hi Kelly!!

I live in "Colorful Colorado!" Although, at the moment, it is not very colorful, mostly brown and gray. I live on the Front Range, just North of Denver and I would not want to live anywhere else!! Colorado is so beautiful and while the weather is super unpredictable 90% of the time, I would not change a thing! The people who live here are super nice and we have a fairly low crime rate--great for raising a family!! Hope you had a great weekend. Harper is looking beautiful, as always!

If I just get to see a picture of your sweet baby everyday,I am a happy camper. You bless me.

I live in Shreveport, La....love it here because that is where my kids and grandkids live....reason enough

Be sure and stop by my blog. Though I am relativity new to blogging, I am loving all my new friends. I am giving away my first EVER BLOG PRIZE and its a good one.
I own a gift basket business and it is the most requested gift over the last 15 years. It is a $100 value and from the comments I have already received, appears to be something a little different and something anyone could use. I am posting later tonight that I have decided to give 3 boxes instead of just one. For all those that read down a couple of posts and read about "My Girl" and "My Boy", and leave a comment their name will be added in the drawing 3 times. I really do want to bless some people!!! I want my blog to bless and encourage others. I have decided that giving is life at its BEST. The drawing will be Saturday!
Happy Monday!

I'm from Virginia... the trees are so beautiful in bloom right now. Our weather has been crazy though, a few weeks ago we had 6 inches of snow and 5 days later it was 80 degrees! Snow suits and shorts all in one week!

Hey Kelly! I am a new blogger and stumbled upon your blog one day. Your little Harper is just too precious! I live in south Louisiana and, hands down, my favorite thing about this time of year is CRAWFISH BOILS!! Yummmy, yummy!

I live south of Seattle. Halfway between Seattle and Portland. :)

The best thing about WA state is the summers and being able to see the green trees and mountains!

Hi Kelly! I love keeping up with your blog. I live in Athens, Georgia, home of the GEORGIA BULLDOGS (Go Dawgs!), which is only one of the many great things about it! We have great weather, lots of trees and flowers, and a ton of great parks! Come visit!

I am in East Texas. My favorite thing is all the huge pine trees around us.
My little boy would only sleep in his bouncy seat for the first couple of months. It took him several weeks to adjust to sleeping in his crib. Good Luck!!!!

Hey Kelly and baby Harper!

I grew up in the great state of North Dakota and now live in Superior, WI on the beautiful Lake Superior! My favorite thing is summer walks along the lake and the changing leaves in the fall. The winters get a little long, but glad that summer is around the corner! The first day of Spring...we made a snowman! Gotta love the seasons here!

I have to say that I love your blog and thank you for sharing your experiences with us.

I'm a faithful reader from Nashville, TN! You can definitely come visit us ANY time! :) I love reading about you and your sweet family (pup included)! A few of my favorite things about TN: beautiful farm land, the hills, and the beautiful colors of the trees!

Here in Central NY, I love to see everything come back to life. God was so thoughtful to give such beauty for us to enjoy. I have decided to dedicate my Monday blogs to all things Spring in NY. Hope you are feeling better!

Hi Kelly! Love your blog. Originally from Louisiana, I moved to Indianapolis 2 years ago and I absolutely love the seasons. In the south, you really do not have a season, but here in the Midwest it is evident. The city has a phenomenal paved trail that starts downtown and goes something like 20 miles north. On the first warm day it is flooded with bikers, walkers, runners, dogs, anyone/anything needing a kiss of sunshine.

Oh... Little Harper is so precious...

Well, I am from Brazil. I am originally from Curitiba, but I live in São Paulo right now.

I miss my hometown a lot. The thing that I miss the most are my family and friends (Yes, I am a little homesick these days ; ))

Hey Kelly, I'm in south Arkansas. The best part of living here are both sets of grandparents are so close and the super small school (pre-k - 12th) on one campus.

I am originally from Riverside California. Things I love about California where I grew up is the shopping, malls and stores EVERYWHERE! Being 30 min from the beach 30 min from camping and riding motorcycles, 3 hours from Vegas, 3 hours from Mexico. Lots and lots to do. And In N Out burger! yum!! What about you??

I live right in the middle of New York City and love it. I love the museums, theater and just walking and looking at shop windows. I grew up in CT and loved the autumn most of all! Changing leaves and pumpkins and each view prettier than the next.

Hi Kelly! I think this might be my first time posting here...

I'm from Southeastern New Mexico. My favorite thing about living here is the amazing Mexican food and the mild winters.

God Bless you and your beautiful family!

What a cute bag and blanket! Harper looks so sweet all the time...so hard to believe she could ever be "screaming her head off!" Bless her bitty heart! I live in a small town outside of Atlanta...I love that I get the small town feel by knowing people (in just the five short years I've lived here) in town and yet I'm 20 mins from downtown Atl. Best of both worlds, I guess! And of course, I love living in the South. I don't ever even want to THINK about leaving. If I could live anywhere else though in the world...I'd move to the lowcountry. Other than that, I love it here!

Sweet Kelly ...
I'm from Houston, TX and I must say one of my favorite thing about my city is Tuesday night Bible study with Beth Moore (yeah ... I know I'm spoiled!) I also love when the rodeo rolls into town (won't be back until next February) and queso and chips from Escalantes. I'm not a native Houstonian, but I am so proud of how my city opened her heart to the people of New Orleans after Katrina. They showed the world how important it is to love on those who need it the most.

I'm from Montpelier, Vermont. I love to snowboard in the winter and kayak in the summer :0)

Little Harper is looking might fierce and is on her way of becoming a diva! LOL!

I'm Analiza and I'm from Canyon Country, California. I'm about 15 minutes away from Six Flags, Valencia. I love where I live, it's a mini suburbia (track homes), our weather is perfect (especially today, clear skies, light breeze 70 degrees f.) You can come visit any time!!!! Hee hee! Santa Monica Pier and Zuma Beach are about an hour away.. worth the drive though :D Another great thing about living in LA is that you will almost always see or meet a celebrity and they are so much more down to earth than one would think.

Praying on my knees for Stellan as well.

We live in TN, near Amish Country. I love it because we're not too far from Music City, but not too far from AL either. I love to travel to the Amish in the summer and buy fresh veggies... and stare in wonder! They amaze me.

Hi Kelly! I am from Gordo, Alabama (very small town close to Tuscaloosa). My husband and I currently live in Mobile, AL but will be moving closer to my hometown very soon. I love being from the South!!

Praying for Stellan!

Hi - I live in Oregon and what I love about Oregon is that things stay green here even into the summer months! I also love that we live right between the mountains and the beach and a short drive will take us to either. I found your blog when Harper was born and people were posting it for prayer. So glad she is doing well. I have a sister that live in your neck of the woods when they are on furlough and have visited the area before.

That first photo of Harper is just so stinkin cute.

I am originally from PA, but like to refer to myself as a southern girl (it all started when I went to Harding down in Searcy, AR and just fell in love with the south). My husband is in the military and so we have lived in Tennessee and Seattle and we just moved a few weeks ago to North Carolina. So far the thing I love most about where I live is how close we are to family and the ocean. It is the best of both worlds.

I'm from Texas...about 30 minutes southeast of Houston. I love Texas...hate the heat...but can't imagine being any place else. I love the bluebonnets along the roads in Spring time!

I live in Southern Indiana, in a town known for its cliffs and water falls. I love hiking (umm..walking?) in the park behind my house in the spring and fall--when the trees are blooming and the waterfalls are running...and when the trees change. Moments in that park are some of the most peaceful, it's so beautiful, and such an awesome reminder of God's faithfulness and majesty.

I am from Augusta, GA and right now I love my hometown for the Masters! I am not a huge golf fan any other time of the year, but right now it's hard not to be!!! Plus, the weather is GREAT! Not too cold, not too hot! It's wonderful! Plus, our spring break is right around the corner (it's the same week as the Master's). I am a teacher so I definitely look forward to spring break!

Harper's precious, as always :)

We are in Ringgold, GA, which is in NW Georgia about 5 miles south of Chattanooga, TN. I have always lived in Chattanooga until we got married and found a home we loved in a great location in Ringgold. The best thing about where we are is the beautiful river, lake, and mountains. There is always something to do!

Well, you already know where I'm from but I'll put it here again:) I am from a small town called Santa Maria on the beautiful coast of California. We are so fortunate to have beautiful weather mostly all year round. I only have to drive about 20 minutes to get to the beach. We are so spoiled. It is the only place I've ever lived and I don't think I'd like to live anywhere else!
