It's Friday!!!!!

Do you see this picture???? This is my bit of happiness today!

I have to be honest - we have had a ROUGH week. Harper sleeps pretty good at night and I'm so thankful for that but there are NO naps during the day and if I'm not nursing her - she's SCREAMING. It's been wearing me out.
So I am doing a couple of experiments. First off - I think she's been hot and miserable so I'm not bundling her up as much and I also took her off her reflux medicine last night and today. My pediatrician said I could wean her and from some things I've read - that could be what's making her fussy.
Now I don't know if that's why or not - but she slept SOO good last night and then she took a nap this morning. I just had to take a picture. (She has aquaphor on her head - that's why it's shiny - I'm taking another suggestion). ha!
So for two hours while she slept this morning, I zipped around cleaning as much of my house as I could. It felt SO good to get some things done. I've been watching a LOT of TV lately and I saw a commercial for this pledge multi surface cleaner - so I got some and tried it today (I promise I'm not doing a commercial for them) and it was great because instead of carrying around a bunch of cleaners - I used this to dust and clean glass surfaces too. Do ya'll have any cleaning secrets when you only have a very limited time to clean????

I've been watching so much TV that I'm close to ordering a lot of things off of infomercials. Like the snuggli blanket or these "bump its". They just might me the secret to good hair - what do you think??? ha!
Do you know what this is??? An EMPTY laundry basket! Praise the LORD I have caught up for the first time since Harper was born! It's a GREAT day! (Can you believe I took a picture of that? ) ha!
And here is the happy baby! She has been SO sweet today - smiling, no screaming! She is SIX weeks old today and I love her more than I ever imagined I could!

Have a good weekend everyone!!! Love all of you!

Maybe it was the med that was making her cry! And if you really want a snuggli, check out Walgreen's. Would save you postage and any other fee they can tack on.
Turn to our only refuge! Praying!

If Aquaphor works for you, try regular ole vaseline. Our doc recommended it after every bath and it works and is much cheaper. As far as cleaning - MAGIC ERASER!

Such a sweet girl!
I absolutely would keep the warm clothes and blankets off of her -- overheating a baby is far more dangerous than having them be a little cold. Doctors recommend having them in whatever you're wearing and comfortable in:) My baby girl sweats like crazy when she sleeps in my arms - I always feel so bad, cuz she seems so miserable! I think it's just my body heat against hers, because I'm sure to never overdress her (and probably go too far the other way sometimes to be honest!)
Again, such a sweet face - I love checking in on the blog and seeing that beautiful girl doing so well:)

she is so cute! and I am just going to admit that I have seriously considered ordering the bump it! the part in the commercial where the girl does her hair half-up and it looks perfect - ya, I'm convinced I could get my hair to look that perfect if I only had a bump it!

I bet Bump it will send you one for free. You are free advertising for them LOL. I never even heard of it until today. It must not have reached the east coast yet? A sleeping = a Happy mommy!

i STILL am guilty for over-dressing my children!!!!!! its because the older we get the colder we get.. but they are ALWAYS hot.. i just dont get it. It can wear a mama down with a screaming child.. to the brink of breakdown! THis too shall pass, beautiful mama!! Shes looking more like you i think, and i just want to munch on those chubby little cheeks!!! Glad you tried that multi purpose cleaner.. i've been itching to buy it.. i use windex on everything.. it really does work - lol. that and the magic eraser- have a great weekend

Love the last pic. Glad you're getting some things accomplished. Can't wait to try the Pledge.

The last picture and what you wrote under it reminds me of something that I have thought many times since my 13 month-old daughter was born - I never knew how much my mother loves me until I had a daughter of my own.

I used to overdress my first one until I realized thats why he was fussing. He is so warm natured and I just didn't know that at the beginning.
She is a doll!

Kelly!!!
What a great post today! I have been praying for Harper since you went in for delivery (that's when my girlfriend Twittered about you! Is that a word? :-)) I haven't commented until today...

Thanks for sharing all that is going on with your family! You make me smile and laugh ALL the time!

I am still praying for blessings to reign over you, your sweet hubby and Harper!

Much love,
Dedra

Such a beautiful baby. I'm glad all is well. I'm sorry if I come across the wrong way, but I saw that Harper just had some shots. This is just some info that I'll pass your way. I wish I had come across it, among the other research I have done, a long time ago. I urge you to visit www.vacinfo.org and www.drcarley.com These were two very helpful websites for me. I know sometimes people don't want to sound as if they're being pushy or in your business but I wish someone would have just dropped a bug in my ear years ago or even before I had kids. Once you have kids different things seem to matter more. They are your entire life and you would do anything for them. Again, please don't take this the wrong way, I just care for your baby and your family. Thank You!!

My son had horrible reflux when he came home from the hospital. We had lots of problems until we took him off of the medicine they gave him and quit mixing his formula with rice cereal. All of the sudden he was an angle. Definately seemed like the cure was worse than the disease! Good luck!!!

She gets more beautiful with each post! I am so thankful that you had a better day. I had a rough baby (my 3rd) and she wore me out!!

Here's a bit of wisdom that my mother told me when my son was a newborn. The first six weeks are the toughest. Especially if they're not nappers or not sleeping well at night. But somewhere right at that six week mark, a mother & child just really *click*. It's almost like a six week learning curve for both of them. Sounds like you've hit that point! :)

I'm really not a stalker, but if I lived on the other side of the state I would so take a turn holding Harper while she's fussy. She's beautiful (future Miss Arkansas for sure. Congratulations on getting some sleep. Have a wonderful day enjoying the princess.

Too cute! We used dandruff shampoo on Noah's baby acne, and I washed everything he touched with dreft, including towels, and my own shirts. Don't worry, it will clear up soon!

Be careful with the cleaning products. My pediatrician told me since I'm nursing that I can't handle or use any cleaning products because they absorb through the skin and that I can't pump gas. Wear gloves

I do believe that you take such good care of Harper I'm surprised she doesn't sleep in a bed of rose petals!!!

Hi, I'm a fairly new reader and love your testimony! So thankful your miracle is doing well.
I wanted to mention to you that I had to really limit my dairy intake with all of mine (6) while I was breastfeeding. At least till age 10-12 months. They all seemed to be lactose intolerant. The spit up and tummy aches were incredible! But when I layed off the dairy, they were fine and not as cranky. This has probably already been mentioned to you, but I thought I would shoot it on over to you just in case it hadn't been mentioned. There's also something called Gripe water. I have never used it, but is suppose to work well for babies who cry a lot. Have you tried a sling? Just some random thoughts. Blessings! Lisa

I know you say she doesn't like to be hot but if that doesn't turn out to be the reason you might want to try one of those Miracle Blankets. Swaddling worked great for me as long as I left his hands outside of the blanket. But he did love to have his feet tucked up and swaddled. She's so adorable. I love all her hats and bows.

Girl the Bump it thing is so neat. Its really easy. I use mine sometimes when I want a poof!

I always tried to focus on one individual cleaning project whenever Grace was little and napping. I would shoot for one room or task each nap and only work on it so I wouldn't stress out if I didn't get a ton of stuff done. At least that's how I justified it I guess!!!

I can't believe she's already 6 weeks old! She just gets more beautiful everyday!!

Enjoy sitting and nursing. Too soon you will be chasing and picking up after her and yearning for these days.

One of the news stations in my town did a "Does it work" segment on the BumpIts and the girls who tested them said they worked and their hair looked really cute. I've debated ordering some, too! :-)

Harper gets cuter all the time!

there's a great book called "Your Fussy Baby" by Mark Weissbluth. Just FYI. But sometimes just getting past that 6 week mark can make such a huge difference!

Kelly,
Don't buy the bump its they are a waste of money and do not work :( I feel for the trap and now I am out $20 some dollars. So if you want to try the ones I purchased I can send them to you. :)

Hi Kelly,

I've been following your journey for a while....so thankful that Harper is home.

I'm a grandma of 3, soon to be 4, and struggled lots with housework when I was a young mom....I wish I I just discovered her last year. So you may want to check her out at flylady.net. She is such an encouragement to me in my goal of keeping a peaceful home.

Much love,
Audrey

She's precious!
I also LOVE the Pledge multisurface and have been using it for years.
As for the bumpits...I fell victim and ordered them. They hurt, as I could feel the little bumps stabbing me in the head, and you could see them through my hair unless I teased it a lot and used a ton of hairspray...so my advice is to save your money!

pinkmommy said...

Oh she is so cute. Do you get tired of hearing that? :)

Rachel Ray tested out the bump its and they said they worked really well. I am thinking about ordering them too!
