11:30 Saturday
Praise Jesus for He is good!!! Scott just called to tell me that he just went to see Harper and the nurse said she is not even on the list for bypass (ECMO) because the doctor thinks she is responding so well to what they are doing she may not even need it. We were told in not so many words yesterday that she may not survive at all and because of so many prayers all over the world - she is improving hour by hour. We have had so much kindness shown to us over the last 24 hours - I can not even begin to tell you. Scott has had several people that we don't know but who read our blog come to see him and even brought him things. He just called me crying because he couldn't believe the kindness we have been shown. It's so overwhelming. Our whole family has cried so much because of the overwhelming kindness of friends and strangers. It certainly has encouraged us to do more for others ourselves.

5:30 a.m. Saturday
I realize I should be sleeping but it's just not coming and you know how hospitals are - I get woken up every minute anyway. The doctor from the neo-natal unit in Tulsa (yes - it's St. Francis) called me at 4 to let me know Harper was there and she was stable. They are running tests on her heart and her brain and doing a few more things before they can start the bypass. Shortly after - Scott and his parents got there and they got to see her again. I have to say that I have never loved my husband more than I do right now. He has been my rock. We have shed more tears in the last 8 hours than we probably have our entire lives but we also know that we want God to get all the glory and praise and honor in whatever happens in our baby's life.
I have such a peace about her being in Tulsa and it was just confirmed to me as I read the comments and a nurse from pediatrics said the nurses there had already been praying for us. And I just recieved an e-mail from someone who went through an almost identical situation and her daughter is now a healthy 3 year old. Thank you Jesus for sending me all of these encouragers and prayer warriors. It is NOT by accident that so many of you have found my blog and are now praying.

12:30 a.m. Saturday morning

Change of plans - AR children's hospital was all booked up so they are about to fly my baby to Tulsa. They are going to be doing a heart/lung bypass on her and the last time we spoke with the doctor - he gave us more hope. Her heart is just fine. She has pneumonia in her lungs and it's just very, very serious. We were able to go up and see her and touch her. They have her put under and paralyzed so she can't move so they can treat her. But she's just beautiful. She's BIG - but beautiful! ;-) I told her we have so many people praying for her and she is going to live and come home to wear all her pretty monogrammed dresses.
I have been sitting here crying about all the people we have praying for us. I can't even begin to tell you what that means to our family. It was what is keeping me from completely falling apart right now. I have comfort in my Jesus. He will never leave me or forsake me. I don't know what His plans are........whether we will be able to keep Harper on this earth with us or not - but I know that I know that I know that He is good and He loves me and He is holding my hand right now.

That's just amazing news! God is good!!! Don't worry about when you should and shouldn't be sleeping. When my daughter was born at 26 weeks, I didn't sleep much that first week and a half. Too much adrenaline. I was so tired of people telling me that I should be sleeping. Sleep will come when it's time. In the mean time just try to remember to take time to eat and stay close to Scott. If you are able to pump breast milk, that is an excellent, excellent way to help Harper. Most NICU's allow you to pump by the baby's bedside with a screen. God will give you the strength you need. Your faith and your family's faith is truly awe inspiring. Thank you for sharing with us. Continuing to pray!

Kelly & Scott,

I am praying for sweet Harper down here in Alabama!! I follow your blog like a maniac and even though I don't know you personally, I feel kinda like I do! I am praying that God lifts both of you up during this time and surrounds Harper with His healing powers. I know how hard it is to have a little one in the NICU. My son was there for 6 1/2 weeks before we got to take him home (he was born 9 1/2 weeks early). It is a very long and lonely road sometimes when your baby is not well, but rest assured that our God has a plan for lil' Harper! Sooooo many people across the world are praying for her and for you both! You seem like such a genuine person and someone I'd LOVE to be friends with! You are going to get through this, girl! And your baby will too! We can't always predict how things will go in childbirth, but know that God had all of this in his plan. She is exactly where she needs to be to get better and you will be taking her home soon!
Love,
Rhonda & Baby Luke Smith

I was on my knees last night praying for precious Harper and am now sitting here reading your latest blog with tears of joy in my eyes. Praise God....He is good all the time! We are in California and had a similar experience last year. My one day old grandson was rushed to a children's hospital about 3 hours from us in the middle of the night. They wanted to airlift him (due to "abdominal obstruction)") but it was too foggy so they had to go by ambulance. My daughter could not be released until the following morning which was so agonizing for her. Baby Parker's pediatrician calls him his miracle baby because we were told 99% of babies admitted for his "problem" have to have surgery. When they inserted the dye to find the obstruction, there wasn't anything!!! He was tested for everything imaginable while there because they just knew there had to be something wrong. There very well could have been but we are convinced prayer healed him!!! Parker's pediatrician (a believer by-the-way) said in his 30 years of practice he's never seen "nothing be wrong!". We were blessed with excellent doctors and countless friends and family praying non-stop for him. I pray God continues to heal baby Harper!

Please bring peace and comfort to Scott and Kelly. Please give wisdom to Harper's doctors as they make decisions about her treatment. And please bring a miracle in the lives of this family by giving Harper complete and inexplicable healing. Thank you Daddy-We love you and believe in Your powerful name.

Kelly,
I was just up at the hospital a little while ago and your mom (or MIL?) told me I should drop you a line. I really am serious that we would love to help you guys in whatever way we can! Just let me know, I left my phone number on the card that I left with Scott. We are still praying for you guys!

Praying for Harper in Pa! God is good and I just know his hand is on little Harper right now. My little girl was extremely sick in the hospital at 2 weeks old and the Lord kept reminding me of that verse that says "Perfect love casts out fear." I was so very afraid for her life, but God's love for her was perfect and that gave me peace.
God loves your little Harper even more than you do which is such a comfort to know! His plans are for her good!

Thank you so much for taking the time to keep us all updated on God's progress with Harper. We never know what God is actually thinking when things happen...we just have to trust that he already has everything planned. I am just so thankful to find that his purpose was to remind all of us that love and prayer truly CAN and DOES make a difference in our lives. In high school I always knew there was a special glow to you - I didn't find out until years later that this glow was actually your faith shining through. It is clearly evident that Harper is a miracle from God in so many ways. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful news!!!! I'll continue to pray for you, Scott, Harper and your family.

The same thing happened when my daughter was born three years ago. She had bad pneumonia and a terrible infection and was just as sick as she could be. We were so afraid that she wouldn't make it but we prayed and our family and friends prayed so hard. We just had faith and as silly as it sounds, as soon as I gave in to faith, I felt peace...it was all in God's hands. She was home in 5 days from the NICU. The doctors all said there is definitely something about the power of prayer.
I know that we do not know each other, I came across your blog from Suzy Harris's whose blog I stalk :) but I will be praying for you and baby Harper.

Kelly,

My family is praying for you guys. We know exactly what you're going through ... all of the emotions and anxiety. When our first daughter was born she had similar breathing issues, and we were forced to take her to a different hospital than where my wife had delivered her. I praise God for His infinite care for His little ones and that Harper is doing better than expected.

Please be assured of our interceding on your family's behalf, and remember that our God is able!

In His Name,
Jamie Staley
