Change

I guess you can see I got a little blog makeover tonight!

Jennisa (go visit her here) did it for me! Change is always fun!!!!! She is great to work with so if you need a little change yourself - visit her!

Well - we have completed 2 out of 3 nights of child birth classes. I can tell you that I'm officially freaked out and scared to death. ha! As much as I love having her inside me and feeling her kick - she has to come out. YIKES! I'm just going to focus on getting to see her cute little face and finally finding out what she looks like and hopefully I'll make it. I can't believe we are almost there.

Tomorrow night we learn how to take care of Harper. I'm excited about that. I may ask for a remedial class.

I am worn out and going to bed. I'm about to chug some maalox and pray for sleep!

Your layout looks great...totally cute. And I was scared to death at birthing classes too...but I, Queen of I Hate Pain, managed just fine.

Kari said...

Oh man! Did I totally feel your pain {literally!! HA!} I was absolutely terrified! But, you know what I said about 5 minutes after she was born? " I could do that again!" HA! That surprised even me! I was horrified at the idea of labor and everything that goes with it, my water breaking, the epidural, the actual delivery part; but once you get pregnant, you have NO CHOICE!!! You know the phrase : It's either sink or swim? well, in labor, it's only swim or swim! But, just trust in the Lord and He will get you through anything. Once you hear and see little Harper for the first time, you will forget all about everything! I LLLLOOOVE the new blog!! So darling!

Kelly, you'll be amazed at how naturally motherhood comes for you!
Eat oatmeal an hour before you go to bed! That REALLY helps with the reflux/heartburn..My first baby was a hairy girl..and I had the heartburn bad...having to sleep propped up too..until oatmeal!

Lianna Knight said...

you will be fine!! the Lord is watching over you and that sweet little baby!

We, those of us in blog-land, are so excited to Harper too!

Robyn Beele said...

Your blog looks so cute!! Sorry about the reflux. I really hope that it gets better soon.

Kelly, I know exactly how you feel...with my first baby I kept thinking she can't stay in there but I am scared for her to come out!!!! But I kept telling myself it is how every person in the whole world got here!!! I did the first 4 naturally even..and I STILL thought about 1 day later, can't wait to do it again. It is the most amazing thing in the world. With my boy, I had a walking epidural which I'd highly recommend if you are scared...pain isnt' there, but feeling is and you still get the joy of knowing when she is born. You aren't totally numb. I am so excited for you!!!!

I LOVE LOVE your new look!! So cute...and so YOU!! Amazing how God made our bodies to survive the pain of childbirth and want to do it again...I did it three times and would love to have done it FIVE!! You will be telling new moms your story too...can't wait to see Harper!
P.S. Had two natural births and one epidural. Epidurals rock...I'm just saying........:)

duchess said...

It's easier than they make it seem & by that point, you really don't care what they have to do to get her out.
You'll be fine!!

The idea of childbirth freaks me out! It will be totally worth it in the end when you get to see your little girl's beautiful face!

The new look is perfect for your blog! She did a great job capturing what you convey-joy and laughter. About childbirth...I completely freaked out about 3 weeks before my first baby...totally normal! I finally calmed down when a mentor (who happens to be a labor and delivery nurse!) sat me down and said, "This is the most spiritual experience of your life coming up. Never before have you seen or felt the immediate hand of God in something like you will in this process...only He could have thought if it! He will guide you, the l and d nurses will tell you what to do, and that sweet baby will be there before you know it." I was pumped! Then after my pep talk I had an emergency c section :) God's humor is never-ending.

Love the new look....and if you can make it through the classes with out anyone passing out, consider them a success. Jim and I survived ours, but the couple in front of us...not so much. Concussion, anyone?

Love the new look. I don't think you need a remedial class - remember that when the time comes - you'll do things exactly as they need to be done for Harper and for you. When you feel unsure - that's when Jesus will step in and help.

Don't be scared! Labor and deliver is really a lot calmer than you probably think. And, it's also very surreal. I was a little nervous when I was going into labor with my son, but it was really a wonderful experience for me and I'm sure it will be for you also. My prayers are with you. You'll love being a Mommy!

Oh I love this new blog look. I especially love that it bolds/highlights the links that you frequently visit so you can easily find them.
I remain much more scared of the next 18 years...oh who am I kidding, forever until I die, of taking care of my kids, than I ever was of childbirth. They have epidurals and C-sections and people that have trained for years and years who are at your beck and call to take care of you when you're getting that baby out. Unfortunately, no one but me got to listen to the wailing that ensued on Tuesday night when I told Lowrey no cheering at the basketball game on Saturday since she acted silly at practice and was not respectful to her coaches. I think that one episode of parenting lasted longer than my labor with Annie. And while I don't remember much about my labor with Annie, this felt much more painful!
Seriously, I know you're going to do just fine. I mean, why would you go through everything else and then wimp out then? :-)
Love you!
K

We start childbirth classes in January. Ours go for 5 weeks (2 1/2 hours each). I am excited, but I'm nervous, too.

The Proctors said...

I love the new look!! Don't worry about labor...the epidural is your friend!! Once you get that, it's a breeze...really! I enjoyed labor both times so much! Seriously! I had so much fun with the nurses and everyone in there. It really isn't bad...just try to relax!! You will do great!

Heather said...

I LOVE your new header and blog look!! I was the same way...but I promise that even in the labor....God will do "abundantly more than all you ask or imagine." It's normal to be scared...but He is right there in all of it!
I am getting more and more excited for you to meet Harper and be a MOMMY!
P.S. You are NOT remedial!

Such a cute new layout!!!!

Kelly,
Yes, Baby Harper has to come out, but once everything is over you will forget how hard it was. I think that is the blessing God gives us through child birth. As women, we are SO very blessed to be able to experience it. The Lord will bring you through the pain. The other great thing is that you and Scott will bond amazingly during the process. God bless you...I'll be praying for a safe delivery for you and Harper.

You are too funny! I have thought the exact same thing each time with mine - "Ah! They have got to come out!" But what better gift to receive after such hard work than your precious Harper! Just get that epidural and you will be good to go! ;) I can't believe she will be here SO soon!

PS- I love your new look!

Cute new blog look!

Epidural.........that's the key! LOL They gave it to me too late with my boys. So I asked for it earlier with Shelby and it was a breeze, honest. :)

Have a blessed weekend!!!!

I love the new blog look! It's so sweet and cute! And don't worry about getting Harper out...if you come in the labor unit kicking and screaming ;) then they'll get you an epidural as fast as they can!

There is nothing to be scared of, you are gonna do great!! And you're right, even women with difficult labors will tell you it was all worth it.

Hi Kelly! I'm going to admit to being a blog stalker on your blog. I love your story. I had a miscarriage last year and can only imagine what you have had to go through, b/c I was able to get pregnant the very next month. My husband is a college coach, so I love football too and love that you love football so much! I've also used some of your recipes... my favorite is the green beans, potatoes, and chicken.

Labor is not bad, just get an epidural as soon as possible. Good luck... can't wait to see pictuers of Harper. I have 2 girls and dressing them is so much fun!

Your new blog look is really fun!

You know, we went to those classes and OH HOW I WISH I would've taken 30 minutes of my time to read up on c-sections instead. I hadn't even thought that was a serious option and when after 13 hours of labor, Graham had to be delivered that way I was scared to DEATH! I just wish I had mentally prepared myself and known that it could go either way, and either way it would be okay. The more you know the better!

I had a dream last night that I was away from the internet for a few day and you HAD Harper!!! When I returned to "blog world" she was already a week old. How funny is it that I had a dream about someone that I dont even know?!?!

It looks so good! That's one of the things I asked for Christmas: money towards a blog makeover! Hope you were able to sleep well and you should share the tips on what you learn at tonight's class! Happy Friday!

Jill said...

Love your new blog design! It is true that they say the memories of pain fade with time. For me the laboring part was pretty good (get the epidural ASAP!)...the pushing is what got me. Have you tried Gavascon for hearburn? The chewable tables are THE BEST and work so much better than Tums.

So, so cute!

When I took the class, I cried during the CPR part because the idea of a baby dying made me so sad! Seriously!

Love the new look, have fun tonight!

Just remember if it were THAT bad, every woman would only have one child!! The fact that most women have more then one baby means it must be worth it =-)

Love the new header!

Love your new blog look--super cute!

Don't worry--I'd almost bet that an hour after delivery you'll wish you could re-live it because it's the neatest experience in the world! Just pray that your epidural goes in perfectly, then you'll be all set!!! :)

I love the new blog look! It is so cute! You will do great with childbirth! I would give you advice but I don't really even know what it is like because I had to have a scheduled C-section b/c my little girl was breech. So..I'm sure I will be needing some advice from you for my second one, Lord willing! Well have a great day and I hope the indigestion and heartburn gets better! I had it horrible too, so I can relate! It is amazing how it is automatically gone after she is born! Yipee! :)

LOVE the new look! I wrote out verses on notecards and had them to flip through the day I gave birth. Also I taped some to the wall to look at while I was pushing and it helped calm my fears and stay focused!!

my husband was the one to put delivery into perspective for me. he reminded me that in the grand scheme of my life, the labor and delivery process will be a mere blink. that helped a lot!

then again, that's easy for him to say because he's not the one going through it.

and turns out that's easy for ME to say, too--i'll be having my third SCHEDULED C-SECTION with Baby #3 in May, so i have no experience either!
