I went to a small little Baptist College, Ouachita, and one of my very favorite things we had each year was called Tiger Tunes. I think a lot of schools have something similar called Spring Sing or something like that. All the "social clubs" (we didn't have sororites/faternities) put on a 6 or 7 minutes show at this event during Homecoming. We picked themes and had outfits and danced and sang and changed the words to popular songs to fit our theme.
We practiced for WEEKS and WEEKS each year and it was a great bonding time and always very competitive with the other clubs.
This is the year we were baseball players and we won! I am one of the only two girls NOT wearing a ball cap. ha!
And then my senior year we were astronauts. We came in last place I think. ha! There were always so many good and funny shows. This week at OBU is homecoming and Tiger Tunes. It's the 30th anniversary and I love to think of my favorite ones while I was there. Did your school do anything like this or if you went to OBU - what was your favorite theme????
Shout out to my tri chis - they are sailors this year and I hope they win!!!!!
Tonight I met Julie at Abuelo's and it was fun to catch up and visit. She is the sweetest person! She is here for all the big craft fairs going on in NW AR this weekend. I'm ashamed to admit I have yet to ever go to ONE craft fair and I've lived here 13 years. Maybe next year..........
(Thanks for all the compliments on my dress - I have to give credit to my BFF Laurie for donating her maternity wardrobe to me. I still have yet to buy one thing but two pairs of pants. I've figured out you always think maternity clothes are SOOOO cute until you are the big girl wearing them. ha! )

I was an ADPi at UT Chattanooga and we had a themed variety show called Greek Show every February. My favorite was the year our sorority turned 150 and we did "ADPi throughout the Years" We had 15 minutes to do dances from 1920s-2000 (each decade our chapter had been at UTC). It was great and we won!
I love the dress you are wearing in your picture from tonight! Very cute! I'm glad you had fun! Hope you have a great Babymoon!
My school never did anything like that...but I was a Zeta at Bama and we did some stuff like that during Rush. I didn't really enjoy greek-life that much and by my senior year was totally not involved! Your school sounds so nice! :)
Kelly,
I love that shirt on you!!!!!!
You are always so bright and cheerful! Yea for craft fairs....
Hands down, the year of the cow was the best...the BEST!!
I had lots of fellow missionary kid friends go to OBU.
I remember my roommate practicing for Tiger Tunes!
I'm jealous that y'all have an Abuelo's! I've eaten at one in TX with Heather, and it's a yummy place!
I love Tiger Tunes!! I'm posting pics tomorrow of the shows I was in. I wish we could go this year!
Tiger Tunes was maybe my favorite thing about OBU!!!
Hey, cute dress you're wearing in that pic!
I went to War Eagle three years ago for the first time, and it was really great! I found some neat stuff! You should go!
All of my girlfriends that went to OBU can sing so well...it must be a requirement to go there!
My friend, Jamie used to tell me about Tiger Tunes...looks like fun times. :)
Craft fairs? As in plural? Ooooh, I would love that! Is it worth making the drive from Louisiana?
We didn't have clubs like that at the college I went to. It was a small nursing satellite campus of the main university. I bet y'all had lots of fun, though. The pictures are great!
I grew up in Searcy, not far from Arkadelphia and going to Spring Sing was an annual event for my famly.
Also, i went to another private Christian university where we had Sing Song every year. LOVED IT! We were Minnie Mouse one year, Jesters one year, and mechanics one year. College events like this are so much fun...but so hard to explain to those who never attended small, private universities (same goes for explaining "social clubs" Ha!).
By the way, I love readng your blog because you talk about Arkansas (and the Hogs!) so much. I live in Texas currently and sure miss AR!!!
You look great! I miss Abuelo's - yum! Our school didn't have anything like Tiger Tunes, but I went to a bigger school and we had Sororities. Tiger Tunes sounds fun.
At Auburn we had Greek Sing. It was always quite a show :) Great pictures :)
I am headed up that way this weekend for War Eagle, cant wait it is going to be a girls getaway weekend for my mom, best friend and I.
We did Sing at Baylor. I was Sing Chair my jr. year and it was the most stressful semester of my life! Our theme was around the world that year---chinese ribbon dancers, Flamenco dancers from Spain, Russian dancers, USA tap dancers, etc. It was fun---but LOTS of work!!!
Go Tri Chi!!!! I'm actually going tonight so I can't wait to see the Sailors. I bet they will be so cute!!
Oh the memories ;)! I was an AOII at MTSU and each fall during homecoming we had Fight Song. The organizations would take the words to the MTSU fight song and put it to the theme of homecoming. SO MUCH FUN. In the spring we had All Sing which is very similiar to Tiger Tunes. I loved participating and I loved going!!!
So glad that you and Julie had a nice dinner. You look beautiful!
Hi Kelly! I love reading your blog since I also live in Fayetteville! I wanted to tell you that there are SO MANY cute baby things at the craft fairs! You should think about visiting the one at the Holiday Inn in Springdale or the one at the J.Q. Hammons center if you get the chance!
I went to Ouachita the first three years of college. I was an EEE and I did Tunes one year. It was SO much fun! We were little schoolgirls, and I was at the end in pj's and big slippers. It was a great experience! I wish I could go this year!!
I went to a small Christian college (Oklahoma Christian University) as well (for a year and a half, then went to a state school here in TX). We had Spring Sing. I haven't thought about that in years. I didn't participate though, because I had no time for the social clubs. I had to work 3 jobs to pay for the private school tuition. eek!
Brings back good memories though!
I attended Tiger Tunes my senior year of high school and it almost convinced me and Lee (Lockhart Morton) to attend OBU! It was SUCH a GREAT show! Of course Benton was already at Fayetteville so that was my MAJOR deciding factor! HA!
By the way...LOVE the dress you are wearing (in your picture with Julie). It looks great on you- fun colors and very flattering. And it's probably best you didn't go to the craft fairs this year. They have SO much cute stuff for kiddos. Most of which you probably already have. They will be around next year! And so will Harper- YEAH!
I can't believe it's the 30th anniversary of Tiger Tunes. I also went to OBU (class of '97). I was in OSF...Tiger Tunes was a lot of fun.
I love it when we were the ducks wearing bikinis. That was SO fun! I always loved Tiger Tunes.
My Mom attended OBU.. I'll have to ask her if she remembers the Tiger Tunes...
Abuelo's is sooo good.. And love the dress!
Oh - what a great astronaut picture you rounded up! Weren't we looking good!?! Those were fun (but tiring) times! Doug is meeting up with some of his buddies today for lunch as he drives through Arkadoo. Wish we could be there, too!!
That dress is so cute in that pic with sweet Julie!! It is a Harper dress with all that pink and brown! I love it!
My favorite tiger tunes was the year we were Pirates! go Chi Delta, I can't remember if we took 2nd or third that year, you know the kappa's won!!they always won, silly boys! just kidding. they did have some super shows. I haven't been back for a show in years! good times.
i was in a christian social club, too at the univ of north texas. we didn't do anything like Tiger Tunes, but i heard all about our charter chapter's "Sing" at Hardin-Simmons Univ!
and snaps for craft fairs...i hope to hit a couple this weekend!
I was walking through the mall last week and called my mom to tell her how much cuter maternity clothes had gotten in 7 months. She sweetly reminded me they were the same but they just LOOKED cuter because I didn't have to wear them!!
I am laughing out loud because I TOTALLY relate! I always think maturnity clothes are so cute or I think people look so precious in things...then I try on something or look in the mirror and all I see is the fat girl...NO really I see a large farm animal! But with each of those thoughts I try to give thanks because that means that our little one is growing and is healthy!
I was a DZ at USC (University of South Carolina) and we did fun stuff like that during Rush and Homecoming. I just have to say that I think you are "glowing" now :) You just look beautiful in your picture!
I've been to TT many times. My cousin has a solo in this year's tunes. I recognize Heather Holloway in that top pic.
Yeah for friends with maternity clothes! What a great way to save money...you look adorable!
Hi Kelly,
I'm passing on an award to you that was given to me today. I think you have a wonderful blog.
Have a blessed day.

I went to OBU for a couple semester and pledged EEE and we were Eggs the year I did Tiger Tunes. That was so much work but so much fun! I think the TriChis won the year I competed, actually.
Actually, we came in 4th place. It just seemed like last place after winning the year before.
