In the town we live in, there is a main road that is lined with old houses. They are all so neat and the road is lined with trees that are so pretty when they are green in the summer and in the fall when they change colors. Twelve years ago - when I first started working in my town - I fell in love with this house. It has always been my favorite house in our town and every time I drive down that road (which is often) I look at it. Scott likes it too and we have always said if it ever goes up for sale - we are buying.
Well - as I drove by this weekend - I noticed there is a "For sale by owner" sign in the yard so I called Scott to tell him we have to buy it! But of course - I'm kidding. We love our house we have now and I have absolutely NO desire to move any time in the near future (if ever). (as if we could sell our house in this market anyway). Besides, I don't even know what this house looks like on the inside - it could be horrid. I'm very tempted to call and ask to look at it. But as much as I love "looking" at old houses - I'm pretty sure I have no desire to actually live in one.
But it's fun to think about! :-)

I've always wanted to buy an old house, gut it and remodel the inside....but my husband has NO desire to ever do that. That was until I watched my parents remodel their kitchen this fall. NO THANK YOU!! I don't think I could handle the mess and stress!
Ha! I actually lived on that street (West Central) growing up... It was fun! I have always loved that house too!
I drive down that street every day on my way back home, my school is right across! I am crazy about those houses! My "dream" home is across the stree a little more west! The white house with black shutters, I tell chad all the time I have to live there one day! Even if i am just staying the night and pretending!
Oh that's a beautiful place! Those older homes have so much character I think! I'd love to see this house in springtime! I'd call and go look at it--just out of curiosity!
I am a new blogger, but I have been reading yours for a while...I love you design style and your love for the LORD!
Oh what a classic looking house. If I were you I'd give a call and go look at it. Sometimes it's the not knowing that is actually what you really like........this way you'll know and it'll be something that you won't say, 'if only we had....'. I had a close friend that also loves old houses and she had the chance to buy one she had ALWAYS wanted, but when push came to shove, it wasn't as great as she had thought. She now is glad she had that chance. LOL Keep us posted and maybe sneak a camera in to get some shots. LOL
OK, that house is in my top 2 on that street. it was my top one for a while, but now I like the green one down the street toward the church with the snowflake christmas lights that are still up :) I would go with you to look at it, I've been dying to see what it's like inside.
Kelly!
I love all the houses on West Central! Did I ever tell you that my Mom grew up in the house that's right by our church? My grandparents lived in the blue one with the pretty white trim that has recently been painted and refurbished for many wonderful years. :-) Also, my parents bought and refurbished a house on West Central just a couple of houses down from that one (both very close to your favorite). It was so old that during the renovations, they found a hiding place that was used during the underground railroad/civil war time period. Really cool! I'll have to point it out to you some time. West Central is one of the best parts of our town!
Ok it's time to be a little Private Investigator.:) I think you should go look at it. Plus I am dying to see what it looks like on the inside too. It is way cute!! I miss Bentonville! That is such a great place. At least I have a reasont to come visit. :)
Those big old houses are so grand and beautiful. There are a lot in the downtown part of our city. I've always told Charlie I'd love to live in one someday, but hate the up keep. Can you imagine if the walls could talk?
Oooh! That's gorgeous. I lived in a 100-year old house for 5 years. It was fun, but we bought new the next time. Guess that tells you what it's like to own an old house. ;-)
(I stopped over here from Jennifer's.)
I adore old houses! We live in an old cottage style home and when we move (maybe soon) we will hopefully move into another old houses. Yes, old houses have their quirks but I am a sucker for the character they offer! So go look at it already!!!!
I know exactly where that house is, and we love it too! : ) You should call and just let us know what they say! : )
You totally have to call & go on a tour! (of course, please take photos so we can see it too!)
I love the look of old houses, but I don't know that we could ever live in one unless it had been completely renovated and modernized. Justin isn't much of a handy man-ha!
