Bigmama has a story today about a run in with an angel. It reminded me of my own story of an angel. I do believe that they exist and no one will ever convince me that my own experience wasn't real.
The first winter I lived in Fayetteville after college it snowed a lot. I've never been a good driver (I had had 3 wrecks just that year) and combine that with ice and snow and you don't have the best equation. I worked at a bank about 20 minutes from my house. One day it had snowed hard and when I left that night the roads were really slick. I started home and things were going okay until I came to a hill. I started doing 360's all over the road. Which the first miracle is that in 5:00 traffic on a busy road - there were no other cars around for me to hit. I kept spinning until I finally slid off the road facing the opposite way.
So I did what I thought was the normal thing.....I dialed 911. Thank goodness for the lovely big black bag phone my parents had bought me when I graduated. I clearly remember the operator laughing at me. "We can't help you - there are tons of wrecks out there. The police don't have time to help you - you need to call someone". So I sat there and cried and prayed because the only person I really had to call was Laurie and what in the world could she do? So I started trying to figure out how long it would take me to walk home in the snow or if I should just sleep in my car and die in my sleep. And then there was a knock on my window. This man stood there and said "do you need help?". There was nothing much around where I was and I never saw anyone walking near me. He got in my car, turned it around and got me pointed out on the street. I told him thanks profusely and got in my car and thanked God profusely and when I looked back - the man was gone and there were no cars near nor was he walking anywhere and if he was - I would have been able to see him.
OH yes - God does send angels to watch over us!

What a neat story! Yes, I was a child bride! : ) We will be married 7 years this Spring, and it already seems like a lifetime ago. Thank the good Lord He had a plan for us. I'm sure we are a rare statistic. : ) Love reading your blog!

Kelly, I have actually told this story to Mario before because your dad shared it with the church right after it had happened. I have always remembered it and think about it often. I love to hear angel stories and believe 100% that God gives his angels charge over us! ("For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all of your ways" Psalm 91:11)
